Barbora Krejcikova vs. Viktoriya Tomova | 2026 Athens Round 1 | WTA Match Highlights

2026 started very slowly for Barbado Kojíková but a decent grass swing which saw her reach the final at Den Bosch could be a sign that things are looking up and that's for Victoria Tomová. Well, she was a top 50 player not so long ago but things have been very tough lately and the Bulgarian now sits outside the world's top. Kojíková lost to Mukova in the fourth round at Wimbledon. Oh, there's the forehand. You do not want to give Kojíková time on that shot to break straight back. Yeah, you felt Kojíková. There was no doubt once it landed on that forehand. We're disappointed. Both break points were lost through her own mistakes. Yeah, nice touch. That's better. The first drop shot earlier in the match. Oh, that's more like it. That is what Kojíková can do on the forehand. Kojíková gets the job done. She will be delighted with that. Real character in the breakdown early on but came back well. Sees off Tomová in 41 minutes, six games Well, maybe the backhand is the way to go for Kojíková. Tremendous. Tomová has been very good off her backhand. Well, again maybe that loss of service. Lovely touch. She was broken but her response has been tremendous. Now with a very calm forehand. Good serve. Break point saved. And with the trademark forehand Kojíková gets the job done. Straight sets. Not always straightforward. Moments of class there from Kojíková. Enough to get her over the line. Victoria Tomová certainly provided plenty of resistance and certainly a Kojíková moments of concern. The third seed is through to the second round here in Athens. 6-3, 6-3
