Another Proof That Raphael Was a Genius

In 1505, Raphael painted this portrait when he was just twenty-one years old. For more than five hundred years, it has been one of the most mysterious works in the history of Renaissance art.

What most people do not know is that the painting we see today is not the painting Raphael originally created. Beneath the unicorn, there is a dog. And for more than two hundred years, both were hidden under layers of paint that transformed the entire work into something else entirely.
