AI GeneratedKeanu Reeves provides an exclusive tour of Arch Motorcycle, the custom bike company he co-founded in 2011. The discussion covers the transition from building high-end custom machines to competing in professional racing, the challenges of technical development, and the philosophy of passion and humility driving the project.
Welcome to Arch Motorcycle.
We'll go like there and then we'll come back here with the magic of editing.
Come on, Arch Motorcycle. Come on, let's go.
Authorized personnel only.
So this is our motorcycle racing department.
Yeah, racing.
These both were built for you.
It looks like you're comfortable, like they fit you.
This motorcycle is so amazing to ride.
It's so wonderful.
Keanu's need for speed is legendary.
He's been riding motorcycles for 40 years.
Now he's revved up giving ET an exclusive tour of Arch Motorcycle,
the company he started back in 2011 with partner Gard Hollinger.
We're not talking mass-produced machines here.
Arch only makes a couple dozen custom bikes a year.
And so everything that is worked on in here also has the pink moniker.
The pink.
Why did you go with the pink?
Arch Genta.
Oh, Arch Genta.
Arch Genta.
I mean, pink is good.
That's where it started, but then it turned into Arch Genta.
It developed into Arch Genta.
Let's go.
Come on, let's go.
There's more.
This is the motorcycle where it all began.
What's bigger?
The thrill of an award show or a motorcycle?
I wouldn't know.
I haven't had that many awards.
Come on.
I'm not the award guy, but I do have some motorcycles.
Maybe someday you could ride a motorcycle to an award show and get an award.
Yeah, sure.
That'd be a good day.
The award Keanu's after these days?
That'd be a racing trophy.
The guys started the Arch Racing team last year, making their competitive debut at Daytona
at the Moto America Super Hooligan Championship Series.
To be or not to be racing?
That is the question.
We did good.
Season one.
Yeah.
Our first season.
But this is our second season.
I mean, I'm just gassing.
We're doing it.
What is the difference between being the rider and now being the owner and having to watch this?
We have common goals, but we worry about different things.
What are the things that you worry about as the owner that you know no one else?
Well, you want to make sure you have a safe motorcycle as fast as it can be and provide
good teamwork.
I think everyone has the same goal in mind.
It's our engine.
By the way, what's the goal this year with the bike?
When you go to Bike Week, what's the goal?
Because last year was top 10.
Was it?
Yeah.
No, you said that.
Last year was first getting there, but not top 10.
Was it?
Yeah.
Once it started, you said top 10.
I don't think we've moved on.
We made first for top 10.
You did.
We still want to get there.
Yeah.
Number one, but then this year, maybe some podiums.
We don't stand a chance.
Why do you say that?
Because I know more about the reality of the dream.
Listen, if we talk about the dream, think about some of the movies you've made
with the dream, right?
You're right.
Come on.
Replacements?
Come on.
Pain heals.
Chicks dig scars.
Glory lasts forever.
You're right.
Right.
Podiums.
Get there.
If you get on a podium, we get to come back.
Awesome.
We get to hold the trophy.
Okay.
And we get to...
Oh my gosh.
That's a good day.
Right?
Yeah.
Maybe next year.
What keeps you up at night as you think about something?
There's so many development and parts and just time, testing.
We don't have enough time.
Don't get enough testing.
I mean, if everything went smoothly, I'd be standing here going,
Yeah, man.
Champagne.
We're going to do it.
Podiums every race.
But the reality was we had to get the thing and we waited for this and we do that.
And this broke and we did this and we don't know.
And ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
There's no cushion on the seat, man.
No, it's not really built for comfort.
It's built more for speed.
Yeah.
Now, Keanu and Gard are sharing their professional racing experience in the six-part docuseries
Hooligans The Arch Racing Project, premiering July 12th on Samsung TV Plus's flagship channel,
STN.
For fans, it's a much more personal side of Keanu than you're used to seeing.
We get to see a lot of you that we normally don't get to see.
How much do you like giving up and revealing this much of yourself?
It's awful, but it's a wonderful sacrifice to...
No, it's not a sacrifice at all, but it is awful.
But it's also, you know, it's fun.
I mean, I'm really grateful and appreciative for what we're getting the chance to do and
for everyone who's joined us and working together and the storytelling and what we're
doing.
It's just, I think it's cool.
Compared to what we see in Hollywood, you're a humble, kind of regular guy who doesn't
want the spotlight on a lot.
Yeah.
So how is it now?
You know, everyone was really nice.
Like when we went to the first race in Daytona, that I think was such a wonderful surprise
to us.
It was just how we were welcomed to the sport, to the paddock, to racing, not only by fans,
but also by the teams.
You know, everyone was like, cool to see you, glad you're here.
You know, you were bringing some positive energy to the series and to racing.
And, you know, hopefully that remains true for the second season, you know?
So that was cool.
You know, you look at what the guys have done with Wrexham, how they built it in, and so
many sponsors have come on and they're building a monster.
Yeah, it's so great.
Do you see that?
Good job, you guys.
Wrexham's awesome.
Do you see yourselves in that way?
Hopefully.
Really?
Yeah.
Are you the Robin Ryan of motorcycles?
Really?
Well, I mean, in a way, I think we were inspired by their storytelling and how it brought some
attention to soccer.
It doesn't matter if you're Keanu Reeves.
It doesn't matter.
No one's giving you any favors.
People believe that when you guys show up on the scene, right, you have this mystical,
magical bike and just you can write checks forever.
Huh?
Wait, what?
What?
Is there someone?
Who has that?
Well, that's what I want to know.
That's what I want to know.
Because that seemed to be how everybody was.
They were like, we haven't seen this bike.
And they have Keanu.
Oh.
They're writing crazy checks.
They can.
Oh, crazy checks.
There were no crazy checks.
No.
Crazy dreams.
Yeah, right.
Crazy hopes, aspirations, crazy talent.
Crazy.
Good crazy.
No, I mean, with the racing program.
Yeah.
We were trying to get sponsors.
Yeah.
So we had some sponsors to help us out and some support, which was cool.
You guys love to say, we're going to die.
So let's have fun.
We're going to die.
So let's have fun.
I want you to explain.
That's a t-shirt.
It's like, yeah, your time is limited.
And if you can, try and enjoy the time you have here.
Have fun.
But also, you know, be good to each other.
Do your best you can, you know, like all of that.
Because this becomes a wrap.
What do you hope is the legacy of this team as you build it?
It's an American motorcycle.
It's made, you know.
It came from out of nowhere.
Right.
And they had big dreams and they eventually won a championship.
Art racing from rags to riches, from the beginnings to the trophies.
