Hi A.D. We are David and Isabella Grutman. Welcome to our home in Miami Beach. Come with us. Come on.
So I'm obsessed with landscaping architecture and my wife is Brazilian so of course she wanted
Raymond Jungles, the best of the best. I mean he's the number one landscaping architect in
the world. It's Miami so of course the weather's a little tropical today but it's Miami and this
is what makes it so special. So the first thing that I want is like to build this tropical island
that's jungly. I have bananas here that I'm very proud about. Yeah very proud of the flowers. I just
wanted to feel like closer to nature. One thing that's really important to us is our fish. One
fact about Dave is that he comes and he sits and feeds the fish every single morning. I never thought
I would see this from him. I love these fish. They're my friends. For me it's always been a dream to have
a koi fish pond and to have water at the front door is a feng shui thing for wealth. So this
art piece is by Prune. She's a friend of ours from France and it's called Tree of Life. It just comes
all together. All the landscaping with this art piece was just perfect. One thing that's really
special about our garden is we have a bunch of Ai Weiwei raindrops throughout and my bananas. Very
special items. It makes me feel like I'm back at home because my dad used to have bananas on his
backyard. So actually I text my dad all the time and I'm like when are they going to be ready? When
I didn't know the process was so long but it's going to be worth it. I'm very happy about it.
Now let's get out of the rain because I have to dry off myself. Let's go.
Everybody thinks because I'm in the hospitality nightlife business that they're going to come to
my home and there's going to be a disco ball hanging and moving lights and loud music and
everywhere. But this is where I come to relax and be with my family and decompress and the
whole thing. It's grounding too. When we get home, when we get out of the craziness, we are grounded.
God knows I need grounding. With a big house like this we love to have like a casual dinner but I
wanted something grand too. And that first item that I looked at and I loved was the chandelier
by Stuart Hagarth. And I was so in love with it and it took me a year to convince you. I mean there
were some back and forth for sure. I think what's so interesting about it is it's espresso cups and
dessert bowls. That's what I love too. To like go to a vintage market in Paris and get little cups and
things like that. So when I saw this I was like it's so me and it's so gorgeous. We're now sitting
on one of the coolest pieces of furniture we have by Cosas Lambrides. It's a collage of many
different materials and stuff like that. Our cat kitty. I don't allow her to sit on this chair and
she sits and stares at me like you're not taking me out of it. Yeah you guys have like a full war
going on at all times. It's a full thing but we love her anyway. She's so cute. Do you want to talk about your
obsession with First Dibs? Dave buys so many bowls around the house. So they're like little glass
candy dishes and stuff like that. And I'll show you some examples throughout the house. I think
it's going to be something big and amazing and it's it's this big. Because I don't know understand
centimeters to whatever but it always comes the wrong way. Like a kid doing Christmas waiting
for that package and when it gets it could be like this small or not.
This is our show kitchen. It was really important to us to have a kitchen
that we actually have the cooking that goes on behind. It's for me to look pretty. It's for me to
look pretty right here. Pretend I cook. I don't cook that much. So this is all I need. It's nothing.
We wanted to do something different for the backdrop. We didn't want to just have again
you know subway tiles or this or that. We wanted to do something special and different for Miami.
You guys remember the First Dibs obsession? So this is one little example that he thought
it was something huge. I thought this was going to be a massive thing on our countertop. But again
it just fits in the palm of my hand. This is my favorite. It's the Haas Brothers salt and
pepper shakers. These little animals. Aren't they the coolest? They're so cute. I mean I love these
too. And all those things we actually use them. So the glasses. I have my favorite olive oil here.
So a lot of it is just for the show kitchen. I just want to be clear with you. I mean I have my
honey here. I have my salt and pepper. I have all the stuff. The show kitchen of course same
situation. I have zero input on what goes back there. But you still try. I try. I try to sneak
stuff in here and there. And the next day I come back and it's gone. I catch it. Otherwise it would
be just balls and knickknacks. It wouldn't be curated. I like things to be curated and organized.
So this is our TV room. And I picked this Edra couch from DDC. And I wanted to have it super
comfortable. But we have four wars about this couch. Because let me tell you the couch bends
so it could go up or go down. And either I want it bent and she wants it up. But it's nice because
when you're laying down you can just put your arm like this. It makes it comfortable. But I have to
tell you it's the coolest couch. It's a great couch. I don't know about you guys but my wife
and I are obsessed with Benihana. So what we wanted to do is to have Benihana in the house.
But we still wanted to be chic. So we built this amazing travertine island. It's travertine all
the way around. And it's sculpted. Another thing that's very special about this room is the indoor
grill. We're in the hospitality business. So we want to feed you right away. This kitchen being
so close to the TV room that people could watch the games. You know could come and just hang out
and relax. And to have it so close to each other. And also be close to the pool. For us it made a
lot of sense. Cesar Molina our architect designed it in a way that every room has a view of this
amazing bay. And I love the fact that no matter where you're at you could see the water. And not
just the swimming pool but the actual bay. I wanted to design with the designer a room for the kids
that it has a lot of space for them to use their own imagination and play. So it was very important
to have this main area empty. But also like little chairs for them to chill, read a book and things
like that. And we also wanted to create something super fun for up there. The girls had a lot of
input on designing the space. They actually curated and customized all the cubbies. And I
think it's really special the girls have their own space while we're doing stuff to have their own
time. What's so special about the bed is you know we saw that Lenny Kravitz did a photo shoot on a
bed just like this. So we asked Lenny Kravitz can you please help us find this bed. Lenny besides
being a musician is also a designer. So we reupholstered it into suede leather. The room is
so wide we didn't want to have multiple TVs. So what we did is very James Bond. We put a railing
and the TV comes to you. It's like magic. It's pretty cool. No? So we are in our balcony outside
our bedroom. We love to sit here and have coffee. But as well like here's where I come to meditate.
Sometimes we get dolphins and manatees here as well. And they're crazy. I'm obsessed with manatees
and there's so many that come around. The dolphins go crazy. And what I really love is on top of our
gazebo we have a wildflower garden. Most people put astroturf or whatever. Here we have a wildflower
garden and I love it. And now we're in our primary bathroom. And my main inspiration was actually a
Celine store that had this beautiful green onyx. And Arca actually found it. And I was so happy
when I saw it because it didn't have so many veins. It was more like a subtle green. And we put the
green all over. And then here we are sitting actually on a vintage Sergio Rodriguez bench.
It's a Brazilian designer. Of course. Of course. And that's a Brazilian little chair over there as well.
And I think what's great is we have two separate toilets. And we have two separate showers, but you
never used your shower, which I don't understand. You're always going on my side. Why? Well because
you always have the fun products on your side. So maybe I should move it all to the other side
Now we're in the gazebo, which is really part of our backyard. Where everyone starts their day
and ends their day is right here. It's where we like have a little glass of wine with our friends.
We'll do like cocktails before dinner. This is like also where you take naps. You take a lot of
naps here. This is the best place in the world to take a nap. I'm not gonna lie. We designed this
also based on like me thinking that I can sit down and enjoy myself, but also be watching the
kids in the pool. Ray Corral did this insane mosaics, which is so beautiful and it's green. So
you can see the pool. It looks like it matches the water. It's the main thing. I want to like the pool
to just blend in with the bay. It just makes everything in synergy. So as much as we love
hosting. It's a rainy day and we want to get comfy. So let's go. Bye. Bye Aidee.
