Thereās a quiet crisis hiding in plain sight, and it has a lot to do with what young women have been taught to believe about themselves.
In this episode, I spoke with Freya India, whose work has been striking a nerve. She argues that social media hasnāt just changed how young women spend their time ā it has changed how they see themselves, how they relate to others, and even how they view their futures.
What looks like self-expression on the surface can become something much harsher underneath, with that constant pressure to perform, market, and optimize the self.
We also got into something that is still too hard for many people to talk about honestly: p--nography and the way it has quietly reshaped expectations, intimacy, and relationships for an entire generation. Freya makes the case that this isnāt just a private habit or a personal vice. Itās part of a much larger pattern that affects how young people form attachments, how they trust, and how they imagine love itself.
What I found especially compelling is that she doesnāt reduce this to a simple political talking point. Instead, she connects social media, family breakdown, self-worth, and vulnerability into a bigger picture that feels both unsettling and deeply important.
Itās a reminder that if we want healthier relationships, stronger families, and more resilient young people, we have to be willing to talk honestly about the forces shaping them.
