Morning! Well we slept pretty well here didn't we? We did. And it's a special day today. Somebody in this room is 56 today. It's not me. No he's older, by a year. Right, had a lovely morning this morning. Thanks for all of the birthday wishes so far from friends and family. It's been really lovely to read there this morning and Gary got me some lovely presents including these little earrings. You can see they've got mountains on them. Love them. Anyway, we're ready to set off and today we're going to celebrate my birthday in Lake Louise aren't we? Yeah we are indeed. We've got a table booked at the Fairmont isn't it for lunch? Yep, the Lakeview restaurant in the Fairmont. Now we're not going to be doing loads of filming today. There's a couple of reasons behind this. Firstly, as soon as it gets to 12 o'clock and it's like a reasonable hour I'm going to be getting myself a massive cocktail and I'm not very good on camera but secondly I want to kind of really enjoy the day as well. So we've just pulled into where Lake Louise is and we've just seen the sign saying Lake Parking's full. Not sure we can park up there. We've got lunch booked for 12.30 so we've got time Babs, we've got time. Heading up to Lake Louise and there is a bear. We've just seen a couple very very carefully walking carefully backwards to get away from it. Here he is on the side of the road. He's just eating look. Spiky. They look terrified that young couple. Gluttering and God I would be terrified and all. We've just seen a bear anyway so that's quite good but we're really worried we're not going to get in the car park aren't we? I'm sort of shimmied. Is she saying there's no parking? Why didn't you ask? I'm just wondering what to do. I don't know. Gary doesn't know why we can't park in there. Seems like there's loads of parking but we can't get parked here. She's on about like go down and get a bus up or something. We're on our way back down. The bear is still there but now we've got a bear jam. We've got to try and see if we can get a taxi. Come on. So we're sitting on the bus now. We've got to the visitor centre and we've managed to park the van quite quite just around the corner opposite a hostel and then you can get the bus and it's two dollars each isn't it? Yeah. So we are late for lunch and we're just hoping they'll hold our table. Yeah we did send them an email so. I don't know if they'll have got it. Well we finally made it but they gave away our table and we booked this table I kid you not and we had the window table that I've always wanted and we had it booked and because we were late they gave it away so anyway we've got a really nice seat outside on the patio but it's a little disappointing when something you've always wanted to do never mind. So you can't say better than that they have given us a complimentary birthday cake I've just noticed so so that takes the sting out of it for us. This is what we came for this is the view and uh cheers here's the champagne that was nice. We're a bit too friendly here right by the tables. So ain't she if you come in here make sure you've got a few dollars on you if you're not insane. So we've gone for I've started with a cocktail courtesy of my sister who sent me cocktail money that's the kind of sister you want right also my mum sent money so mum thanks for the lunch thank you very much but it's proper pricey so we're getting a couple of starters I'm getting a full cocktail he's getting a scotch egg and then you get this rotisserie chicken apparently you can choose all the spices so we'll show you what what that comes out like but the staff honestly couldn't be nicer. We just still can't believe how gorgeous this is and apparently it was frozen a couple of days ago wasn't it? Yeah and it's not often this blue apparently. Gary has to sit this side because it's easier for me with my neck but there's a there's a heater right behind him that smell of chicken might actually be mine. Oh they are doing a little bit of renovation there though. So I'm starting with the prawn cocktail which is four giant prawns and Gary's got a scotch egg which also looks amazing rotisserie chicken and caesar salad lunch absolutely lovely we've had a really nice time photo like the instagrammers do of my cocktail look at that it's crazy nice isn't it so the old chipmunk has got brazen and he's there look i've got me a scarf on now because the sun's right in my head so anyway chin chin i don't how many is this i don't even know look me up a few happy birthday like indy sharples now so okay so a gorgeous moments just happened to us we didn't get the table we bought because obviously we'd come in 10 minutes late and they'd give it away however we've outstayed the people who were and gary who said everything comes to those who drink enough cocktails so we finally got the table that we originally bought that's the view i mean the view was spectacular from the balcony i really wanted to be by this window in a really weird way and that's what we've got it's been a perfect birthday literally had the loveliest birthday ever and gary's just given me a surprise birthday present like another pair of earrings so i said choose between these two earrings that i'd like and he got both of them and then just gave me one it looks like we've been engaged because he gave me a box you know like we're already married but i'm sure everyone is like oh he's just proposed oh dear we're all emotional and just loving it aren't we it's wonderful so this is the hard-sided campground at lake louise and i think i don't know how much it was it's full electric hookup isn't it we think we're not 100 sure well she did say if you you know you can collect wood just before she said the site didn't she yeah before site one but we've already got some wood to be honest we're in pitch 96 so i don't think this is as as big as the one we were in last night but it certainly looks pretty nice you sure it's this way yeah yeah it's this way 72 to 189 so there's a good few pictures on here so this was our pitch last night down in lake louise rv park this was quite nice actually we had a gorgeous little fire going here the sun's out like mad but the pitches are right next to each other these are like pull through ones so you've got one here and then there was another motorhome just here uh and i could see the lady brushing her teeth first thing this morning i'm sure she didn't really need me nosy and i didn't mean to but apparently there's loads of bears in here so i'm kind of uh keeping myself to myself in the wagon you're only allowed hard sided vehicles here another campsite with free wood so they have a nice pile you can stock up it's a brilliant campsite this so just through there is the rocky mountaineer lots of people i know have been on that cost a fortune by all accounts but it is apparently magnificent it'll take you all the way from banff to whistler i think look there i wonder if it's really hot up the top have you been on the rocky mountaineer tell us what you think we're not too far off canyon hot springs now which is where we're headed just entered into the glacier national park this is absolutely beautiful this goes all the way down into the states doesn't it love and it's stunning so this is rogers pass we stopped here before we remember this don't we now we've got a great picture of the van next to the flag there yeah we did isn't there like a a fake pair of trousers or something you can stand up with yes but there where is it oh there it is gary the fake trousers gosh this is weird because we were here in our own motorhome last time we parked over the other way it's almost two years ago exactly that we were here isn't it in the motorhome it's amazing it's a great place to stop you too can put your legs in there and be an explorer but look at that doesn't look like your average roadside stop does it and they've got an interpretive center in here and if i remember rightly there's loads of stuffed animals apparently they've all closed down for about a year the guy says they're doing some renovations aren't they so if you do stop here you'll be able to use the loo but that's about and you can put your trousers on just stunning the road works we've just seen a digger that was right on the edge here but these guys working right on the side of the hill as well i'll tell you what they're earning the money look at that digger right up there it's like tilted on its side so there's a logging vehicle in front of us we're trying to keep our distance because we've seen bits of wood fly off it not like the entire log or anything but enough to make us think oh crikey there's a lot of work going on here so we're at the canyon hot springs rv resort and we've booked in here for the night and we do remember passing through here we didn't stop here because i think we wanted to get on the last time but anyway we're booked in here for tonight and they do have a swimming pool we understand and there is hot springs somewhere but we think you have to pay extra for them it's not that well rated on google maps for some bizarre reason but it does look really nice and we really need to do our laundry as well gary's down to his last pair of knickers aren't you i am yeah well the other side of my last period oh stop it that's disgusting i was only joking yuck okay you're right though i think we did drive in here and they didn't have any space or it was too expensive because we was on a mega budget we're still on a budget but not as bad as if we were there's a gift shop and a cafe as well gary and mineral pools oh where are you going to oh it's up the office is up here is it did we it was a bit steep in it oh god hopefully the laundrette is working oh right okay yeah there you go this is what it looks like they've got coffee i think as well so this is what it looks like it's really quite pretty i think the pictures are quite close together but they're not mega on top of each other actually no they look quite spacious we've got a back in up the back here i don't think we've got a fire pit there's only a few with a fire pit there's a couple around that side that seem to have one and then these are the pull-through pitches it's quite empty actually so gary's just gone down to the laundry got myself a little bowl of crisps and the neighbor just knocked round i don't know can you hear that train that's constant anyway that aside he says and do you mind if i fly my drone behind because there's a bear and we've seen a mother with two bear cubs and we'd like to play the fly the drone to film it it's like no that's okay but i thought what we're right behind where we're parked there's a mother bear with bear cubs we've got to be very careful right we've come down to the pool haven't we we're not going to obviously film loads of the the hot springs now it's boiling hot as well so the weather's at least 25 degrees celsius isn't it today it's roasting so we're gonna have a quick hour here and there's um but it wasn't it didn't come with the campsite you've got to pay separately yeah it's 16.50 per person plus tax yeah so it's about nearly a tenner each well she's just shy of that about 8.50 but we thought it might be worth it so our only chance to come to the hot springs but it's more like a swimming pool that's really hot i'll show you here we are there's the small pool i'm not going to really show you the other pool this is just normal sort of pool size but there are people in it so i won't show you that but just check out that lovely little view and uh got a couple little tables and chairs there's quite a few rules i'm not allowed to wear shoes and all this but they sell sort of ice cream so i might have some of that in a bit there's the pool from the outside but just check this out they've got three hummingbirds feeders up here and they're all coming around there's some beautiful plumage there's actually a bear in the camp this morning so we were going to go for a little stroll this morning i'm going to give that a massive wide berth literally in the campsite i'll tell you what i feel like wherever we go there's bears gary yeah we seem to attract them at the moment wow look at him just wandering around just wondering off there see if we can get anything from them look at that gosh god wow look at that he actually even knows how to get in them now oh you're kidding me they're not secure enough are they got one brave camper going out with his camera trying to catch the bear i won't be following the bear careful he's hungry no look in the bins check out somebody else's campsite well morning results are in for the campsite aren't they gary yeah well we slept all right to be honest but it's proper pricey isn't it how much was it gary 75 dollars 75 dollars for one night and that didn't even include going into the hot springs did it no and the hot springs is all part of the campsite it's not like you have to go anywhere for the hot springs it's on the campsite you're not allowed in it unless you pay an extra 16 dollars 50 each no now worst things gary you went to get a shower this morning what happened so it went into the shower lovely new shower block but all the sport all the doors to the showers are all boarded up they've got they've got boards nailed literally nailed across they might have known you were coming to be honest but i mean it might be to stop the bears having a shower really to be honest we had a great time in that you know we saw the bears and we i really enjoyed the hot springs to be honest it was worth the money for me i slept so well the train's super loud but i didn't hear it in the night no but wow it and it shakes the van we're on a really unlevel pitch uh and there was lots of mosquitoes last night so we kind of had to stay in so all in all would i stay here again no no but i did enjoy the hot springs thanks for watching everyone join us next time for
