hello welcome to my side yard garden my name is Vivian and don't forget here at lively garden
we encourage you to grow your own food the organic way. I am harvesting some tomatoes so we have the
yellow pear and we also have the red one i think that is roma. I'm also uprooting the whole plant
i have been away for a few days and most of the plants are not looking so good because i didn't
have somebody to water them and also we've been experiencing a lot of heat i think i've said this
so many times that i live in a semi-arid area so it's always hot and we've not seen rain for months
i want to plant some cucumbers i don't have any cucumbers growing in the garden
and i've been consuming a lot of them so apart from pickling i've also i've also been using
cucumbers for detox so i usually mix i blend cucumber, aloe vera, mint and then i add lemon
and i've been loving that detox but i've not done it for a while now because i don't have
cucumbers in the garden and since i want to continue with that thing which i started
then i need to always have cucumbers in the garden. Now that we are done with cucumbers i have this
pepper plant i bought a while back but i've noticed it is not growing so well so i'm transplanting it
so where i had planted it we have a lot of wine berries and they've somehow shaded that bed
so it has not been receiving enough sunlight so i'm bringing it to this other side to see if it
will grow better. This bed is my latest addition and i started with planting pineapples but
pineapples do take a lot of time before they mature so i decided to also plant ginger, garlic
and fenugreek. This is tangerine and it must be loving the soil so far because we have some new
flowers and a lot of new shoots and i'm so excited and also as you can see we have some roots on it
planning a garden is not always easy here i'm deliberating i'm trying to figure out what plant
i should remove and where i should place the new plants which i have and it took a while before i
figured it out. After a while i somehow figured it out and i decided to remove all the pepper plants
from the raised garden bed to the grow bags so here i'm removing some old soil which was in
grow bags and i will mix that with manure add some sand and maybe some calcium mix that up and then
put back the soil in the grow bags and then i'll be able to plant my peppers. I've managed to fill
up five grow bags with soil and i'm removing some stones because our soil has a lot of stones
in it. You heard me mention calcium and this is what i was talking about this is a mixture i made
myself i crushed i blended some dry eggshells and i managed to come up with this powder so this is
what i'll just sprinkle and mix up with the soil. I've already placed my pepper plants in the grow
bags the pepper plants are not seedlings these are old pepper plants which i've already harvested
from and i decided to remove i usually do this after i harvest i just cut off all the leaves
and some of the branches and i notice it helps to encourage bushier and healthier growth and this
will also stimulate new shoots and lead to stronger branching and improve future fruiting
and you're going to have more peppers. So after i removed the bell peppers and planted them in the
grow bags i decided to plant some onions on my left side so i planted two rows of onions and
in the middle of this bed i'll be doing carrots and then on the on my right hand side i'll be
planting some habanero peppers. Jalapenos are one of those things that are making me extremely
happy. I read somewhere that a healthy jalapeno plant can produce 20 to 40 peppers and i think
i can say mine is healthy because i think i have more than 30 peppers on one plant they are doing
so so well. I can't believe i'll be harvesting my first ever orange from my garden. This is amazing
it looks so nice and i'm encouraged to continue planting more citrus. I don't know when to
pluck it i think i'll just wait for it to drop and i'll just pick it from the ground like i always
do with my passion fruits. This is a red plum i was told it might not do well in my area but so far
i'm loving the growth it has definitely grown taller and also i can see we have some new shoots
so i'm very very optimistic that we're going to have fruits from these plants. Our next fruit tree
is an apricot this is not very common i actually have never seen an apricot fruit tree i also don't
think i've ever touched an apricot fruit i've only seen them on socials so i'm also excited
to experiment with this one and it's also looking so so nice we have more branches
and i'm excited i hope we get fruits from it i'll just continue taking care of it. I've had this
lemon plant for almost two years now although it's not grafted so i don't know how long it will take
before we start having lemons
