2025 BMW X5 - "Eye" Spy Some 2025 Updates to BMW's #1 Selling Luxury SUV!

What's going on youtube? Long one of the best-selling bmws the x5 has long also been one of the best luxury suvs money can buy And following a refresh last year bmw is continuing to make some updates for 2025 So do these changes continue the x5's momentum? Well, let's go ahead and find out So let's get things started here with our spec dump Now today we have the mainstream version that most people buy This is the 40i model which is using a three liter turbocharged inline six cylinder engine with a 48 volt mild hybrid system Power output is 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Now. There's a lot of other versions We'll talk about those later on in terms of your transmission though You have an 8-speed automatic transmission and our combined fuel economy is 25 Now like drew said we're talking about all those different versions in the test drive on that test drive We're also going to be doing things like getting our signature sound level reading going 55 miles per hour Additionally after that we're going to be talking about two new elements. We're integrating into our reviews predicted resale value and reliability So you'll want to stay tuned for that But let's go ahead and close up the hood because a big part of this luxury suv experience is the exterior as well as the interior Now like we mentioned at the beginning this x5 just came off of a extensive refresh last year So you are going to see those same design changes continue on for 2025 Up in the front. They did revise this look but they didn't go to like a supersized kidney grill or anything like that It's still a normal size look here. We've got the silver finish. This is the m sport though So down here on the lower part We are going to have the more aggressive design with the gloss black finish You can match this as well if you choose the shadow line package Now moving it to our headlights. You are of course going to have standard full led headlights We have the available adaptive led headlights. So as you can see very advanced look on board We also have the new daytime running light and turn signal indicators that fade in and out now before we move from the front I do want to mention something you do have an available air suspension on board and one of the new things for 2025 is the fact that you can now option that on to the entire lineup So if you want the air suspension, that's now going to be an available choice for you Now, of course when we come to the rear design the x5 has always had that just clean Classy and signature look that does continue this year. Yeah, I love the way this vehicle looks as far as some of the design elements We have a spoiler up top integrated wiper that is exposed and then let's look at our taillights now BMW revised these quite a bit last year for the refresh and let's see if all the elements are led So we have an led brake light portion led reverse light and then we have the fading kind of dynamic turn signal indicator So all the elements are led. I like that That's a thumbs up and down here at the lower diffuser area since we have the m sport model That's going to mean we have a little bit more of an aggressive diffuser They're all going to have the integrated exposed exhaust outlets though So I really like that and tow rating is very impressive with the x5 7200 pounds Now as we move on to the wheels You probably don't need me to tell you that you've got a wide variety of selections as you expect from bmw We have one of those selections. This is a 20 inch alloy wheel We could upsize these as high as 22 inches if you prefer something a little bit larger But I do like the contrast design on board Now we've got a color contrast accent over here As we come up to the mirrors, these will be fully loaded with all the features including auto dimming and power folding Now here at the side of the x5 we have that signature design and as far as the overall vehicle length That's 194.2 inches. If you choose the m sport model, that's where you're going to get a few special design touches Namely all the wheel surrounds in this lower piece are going to be body color I do like the classy look of that and all of your window surrounds and your roof rails are going to be blacked out Now let's talk about your safety systems because this is an area of change for 2025 So you do still have the driver's assistance package available, which is going to include the new highway assistant Which was added last year for hands-free highway driving at speeds of up to 85 miles per hour But new for 2025 bmw is adding the i lane change assist this was something that debuted on the 5 series sedan and now you can just Look in the mirror and the bmw will go ahead and switch lanes for you without you actually even having to use the turn signal Indicator so very advanced safety systems with this new 2025 x5 But guys that's going to wrap up the exterior. Let's dive into the inside But first if you're new here, we're brothers and we've been reviewing cars since we were 12 and 16 We may be young but we love cars And we'd love for you to subscribe to be a part of our car confections family Let's learn a lot have some fun with all the latest cars All right, now let's go ahead and get inside first, of course, take a look at the key fob We have that newest bmw key fob design. You do have standard smart entry You've got the digital key system and phone is key as well and then remote start comes with the premium packet Now getting inside just grab behind the handle that's going to unlock the doors there And take a look inside the interior Obviously, we've got that latest design that was updated last year And speaking of let's go ahead and get into some of the individual color and material choices You can make in terms of your seats So what we have standard is the sense of fin leatherette. However, none of you guys are going to notice that I don't want to hear any complaints about you know, this is a fake leather because this is actually wonderful feeling. It's fantastic. I love the Quilting details they've done with the stitching This is the coffee color scheme But you have obviously a ton of other color choices that you can make And you can also get the extended merino leather which adds that option throughout the entire cabin not just the seats Now down here at the seats themselves as you can see we've got a lot of adjustments We even have the power adjusting bolsters and you have a power thigh extension out there in the front And then memory seats are going to be standard as well You can get the multi-contour seating package which includes 20-way adjustment and massaging So let's go ahead and climb inside and get into all the specific details And now that i'm inside let's go ahead and talk about the overall cab materials They're as good as you would expect you've got the coffee leather through the armrest as well as the center section Leather finish across the top as well We've got the stitch dashboard going across the very top You've got a lot of different woods that you can choose from We've got a high gloss wood all the x5s though will come with this strip here Which is interactive and lights up at night and then you've got more wood and more leather along the center tunnel Now to fire it up your push button start is located right here All right. Now that it's fired up. Let's dig into first our gauge cluster 12.3 inch Digital cockpit professional system here. This is standard on all models fully reconfigurable Of course, you can also get the head-up display that's in the premium package that the vast majority of x5s are going to have Now as we pull back to the steering wheel, we have one of my favorite designs. It's this is the round M design since we have the m sport As you can see three spokes you've got the leather covered airbag cover and the real aluminum accents Of course, the steering wheel itself is going to be power tilt and telescoping and we are also going to have a steering wheel heating Now turning over here to our center console we'll pop that open You got the butterfly opening hinges and inside you're going to see it's loaded down with donuts That's because here at car confections That is our emblem and we like to see how many donuts fit in there to test out the volume The answer today is going to be 10. That's pretty good. Um, Pretty good performance. Obviously, it's not gigantic But we don't really expect it to be in this segment of vehicle As I slide back that piece of wood you'll find some additional storage So this is your wireless phone charging pad, which is standard equipment You have a rubber pad there and you've got a couple cup holders as well Now bmw saves space for storage by going with the small nub style shifter after the refresh Just pull down for drive. You can use the power shifters up here on the steering wheel for manual shifting And when we go into reverse if we have the parking assistance package that's going to give you this 360 degree camera system as you can see you've got that nice overhead view You've got the active trajectory on board front and rear parking sensors the reverse assistant really the whole shebang of different things that you can do including everyone's fan favorite going through the 3d view And then just press that p right there for park your electronic parking brake is right next to that And you got a bunch of your drive modes also located right there These controls here can also be made in class if you prefer that as well Now above we do have a physical volume knob for our audio system We've got the middle tier option, which is the 14 speaker harman kardon sound system You can also get a really high end bowers and wilkins sound system if you want that as well Now today i'm having a bit of tech problems getting my phone connected to this system I have no idea why we obviously actually do own a bmw and we have no trouble ever with the pairing to that system But what for whatever reason it's not working today, so i'm not going to be able to give you guys a sound sample Nevertheless, nice looking speaker grills over there in the door trim and on the pillar But let's draw our attention to the technology here So first of all, if you're wondering where the climate controls are with the update They have moved those into the screen as with most bmws So you just simply adjust your temperature in the touch screen there You can access additional functions by clicking that little climate button And that's where you can adjust your fan modes for the automatic climate and all the other settings as well Now also inside of this menu. This is where you can turn on your heated seats and your heated steering wheel Heated seats are optional ventilated seats are also optional. We don't have them on today's example Now the main display itself is the floating design the 14.9 inch display This is running the newest version of iDrive So you may have noticed that we've got those additional buttons down there at the bottom kind of a simplified Menu structure to this latest version that makes it easier for people to understand You can flip through different menus over here on the side and then the main part is going to be occupied by our standard Navigation system. You can also have wireless android auto and apple car play abilities if you prefer to use those systems instead Now taking a look up top here. We've got the auto dimming mirror with the home link universal remote And then up at the very top we have a standard panoramic sunroof as you can see the shade opens quite fast The front panel is going to open up and you can also get the available sky lounge lighting up there as well All right, so let's dive into the rear seat area of this bmw x5 i've always liked this space and for 2025 that only continues So we are going to have about 37.4 inches of legroom about 41 inches of headroom The headroom is really really impressive guys. It's a very tall spacious in here The legroom is going to be pretty much identical to lexus rx but less than mercedes gle now One of the things we do here at car confections is we get our knee room measure with the seat adjusted to drew who is Five foot eight i'm five foot nine for reference and we're sitting at a very solid eight inches of additional knee room That's because they've done a good job of cutting out some knee holes and then my feet can easily slide up underneath of the seat Now let's also talk about some of the features you're going to get so here in the center. We do have vents as standard equipment You're noticing that we have a lot of light blank holes and stuff That's because this is a more lightly optioned x5. You can get A four zone climate control on higher end models You can also get heated rear seats as an available option and all that would occupy this space Down below that we have a 12 volt outlet two usb c ports and we're also going to have more usbs Integrated into each seat back as you can see right there Now folding down the center armrest. We do have two cup holders inside. These are stanley approved It fits my stanley water bottle and then over in the door trim Uh, you will notice a very nice one. You can get rear window sunshades We don't have it on today's example, but it's pretty much leather from top to bottom You have some wood trim as well. And then uh, you also have bottle storage down in the very bottom. It doesn't fit the stanley Fully, but you can kind of turn it sideways. It just may spill out now walking up to the tailgate area We do have a standard hands-free power tailgate on all x5s and uh, this is a unique opening tailgate So all x5s have had this kind of like one of those iconic heritage x5 elements that you have the split part tailgate Which means it's really good for tailgating so you can use this as like a tray table area to sit It also is good. If you need to load, uh long items in it allows for almost like a pickup truck like experience So I do like that. They're keeping that but let's go ahead and dive into the space We're going to be sitting at around 34 cubic feet of space behind the second row of seats And then as we fold those down it's going to leave you with a maximum of around 72 cubic feet That's basically identical to mercedes-benz gle For reference and it's a good amount of space overall Now one thing I do want to point out is that there are not any handles to fold the second row from the cargo area So I will have to go up there and do it manually And now that i've done that you can see that they do fold 40 20 40 split folding And another thing we do in all of our car confections reviews is get the cargo length Excuse me from behind the driver's seat adjusted to someone who's five foot eight We're sitting at an overall cargo length of around 75 inches as far as the area behind the second row We're sitting at about 41 inches of length And then we also get the cargo width that is coming in at about 43 inches wide Which is pretty decent and then as far as cargo height Uh, that's going to be 31 inches. So the cargo height is pretty darn impressive i'd say even more impressive than the cargo width Underneath the floor. Uh, we do have actually quite a lot of underfloor storage However, I do not see a spare tire here. We are behind the wheel of the 2025 bmw x5 and in this test drive We're going to be talking about quite a few different things as you can see on the screen right now Including getting that sound level reading that I was talking about earlier if I can find it. There it is To see how quiet this luxury suv is, but first we're going to go ahead and start by giving a hard acceleration All right. There's a quick jab of the accelerator in the x5 40i so this is the base powertrain but it's really anything but basic we've talked about this, you know in in past reviews, but It really is a lovely powertrain, this is the the b58 the three liter turbocharged inline six cylinder We added the mild hybrid component to that last year and altogether power output is 375 horsepower and 383 pound feet of torque which is plenty for a vehicle like this Yeah, it is just so so powerful and really even more so than the power you just It just oozes refinement this powertrain setup it is like the perfect mate for the x5 just because It gives you all the power that you need but never sounds strained. It is just perfection in a powertrain Um, and you know, that's particularly worth noting because its main rivals, uh mercedes-benz gle They now have the four-cylinder as the standard engine option Which definitely does not have the refinement or the power that this has and also if you cross shop with other rivals like lexus rx It's also going to be four-cylinder So you're not going to have the refinement that you get here with the x5 in the standard powertrain as drew mentioned There's also plenty of other options if you want to choose the m60 model That's going to give you a v8 with a lot of power. There's also the x5 m competition as well. So Full gamut of choices and I do want to point out if you want to see dedicated reviews of some of those models We have actually reviewed most of those definitely the plug-in hybrid and the x5m competition last year so you can see a full detailed breakdown as well as importantly how it differs from this one in the driving experience Now as far as the transmission is concerned we do have an 8-speed automatic transmission It's a nice smooth partner to this engine Especially when you're just driving around calmly like most people will be doing with this model but if you want to you can also go into sport mode that's going to dial up the performance of the transmission as well as Other elements such as the steering and throttle response. We also have paddle shifters on the steering wheel As far as the power being routed to the ground you do have the option of rear drive but it's only here on the 40i model and really the vast majority of Vehicles, I think will be equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive And let's go ahead and just dive into your fuel economy because of the mild hybrid setup This is a very efficient vehicle even with that 375 horsepower. So we're sitting at 23 27 25 miles a gallon combined 25 mpg out of a 375 horsepower in line six Is really really good guys That's going to be as good as what you get in the four-cylinder offerings of the competition Of course, there is also the plug-in hybrid that we mentioned earlier If you want to have some all-electric range, you can get that And then of course the the higher performance v8s are going to reduce your fuel economy down quite a bit Now I put it in sport mode so we can show you what the acceleration is like in that mode Wow, yeah, it really sings in sport mode. It does feel a lot more Responsive with the throttle response like I was mentioning earlier and Yeah, well definitely some sporty dynamics are still in this x5 even though it's comfort focus, but speaking of comfort Let's go back to comfort mode and see if we can get our sound level reading All right, guys, the x5 has always been a reigning champion and I think that's going to continue for this sound level reading 49.8 decibels is what we were sitting at going 55 miles per hour in the 2025 x5 Holy moly guys, that is Really really impressive. I will have to check on this figure But I think that may be the quietest vehicle that we have ever tested on this channel If it's not the quietest it may also be you know, it's definitely the quietest in this segment. Yeah Um, and that is just so incredible, um and just sitting here Riding along in you know this vehicle for the time that we're videoing. It just sounds so so quiet You just want to whisper because it sounds so hushed overall Um, so I have to say very very impressed with that If you want to check out all of the this vehicle's rivals and their sound level readings, you can do that on carconfections.com Sound level readings we posted all those vehicles rivals as well as all the other vehicles that we review on the channel, but Impressive a sound level reading to say the least here Now also I do want to talk about your ride quality as well There are uh, some different suspension setups that you can get so i'll just go ahead and point that out as drew mentioned on the outside one of the 25 changes is that you can get The air suspension on all versions of the x5 now. Um, it is standard on the 50e model but we have just the standard suspension setup and Honestly guys, I think it's a little unnecessary to get the air suspension The ride quality is so so good here with the standard setup I don't know if it's worth the extra money to get it. I will say we have sampled out the air suspension Previously and it adds like i'd say 10 better ride quality To the overall so if you're really really ride quality focused or want the adjustability You can get that air suspension set up, but the standard Suspension is really really good one way or the other and the seats are incredibly comfortable All right. Now it's time for us to do our slam dunk and air ball our favorite and least favorite element drew Uh, do you want to kick us off with the slam dunk? Yeah for the slam dunk today. We just have to say Just how well rounded this x5 is there's a reason why it's been a bestseller for a long Time and it's just one of those things like we were talking What could they do differently? You know for the next generation and it's really hard to even pinpoint things that you would want to see changed with this x5 except maybe one thing and I would say the full touch screen climate controls and this vent detail here that can be today's air ball because This could be updated to be a little bit more intuitive bring back some physical controls perhaps And make things a little easier to point at yourself And lastly, I do want to point out you have a four-year 50 000 mile basic and powertrain warranty BMW also includes three years and 36 000 miles of complementary maintenance Now as far as pricing for the 25 x5, you can see the full lineup on the screen right now Of course, it varies a lot if you get like a base model or an m product We're starting at around 68 grand for the most popular configuration, which is the x drive 40i Which is also what we happen to have today Once we add in a handful of options, this one's pretty lightly optioned and we're sitting at around 76 360 as tested today.
