Hi, I'm Aksa and I'm learning how to do eyeshadow.
So welcome to episode 1 where I'll be attempting this simple lavender look.
I start by applying concealer to my lids and with a flat brush,
I carve out the general shape I want the eyeshadow to follow.
The concealer helps colours appear brighter,
gives the eyeshadow a nice tacky base to stick to
and helps prevent it from creasing throughout the day.
Here I'm taking my time with the concealer
and trying to be as precise as possible with the placement.
I'm slowly building it up until I get the brightness I'm after.
This step is really important because it creates an even base for the eyeshadow,
helping the colours to go on more evenly and reducing any patchiness.
Next, I take a piece of sticky tape
and press it onto the back of my hand a few times to reduce the stickiness.
Then I line it up with my lower lash line,
making sure it's as straight as possible and secured in place.
This helps create a clean, sharp edge for the eyeshadow
and makes blending so much easier.
Next, I take a flat brush and use just the tip to pick up a brown shade.
I carefully trace along the natural curve of my eye,
adding a small flick at the outer corner.
Once I'm happy with the shape, I gently blend it out,
keeping most of the colour concentrated along that line to keep definition.
You'll notice I keep looking down while I'm applying the eyeshadow.
Then every so often, I'll look straight ahead to check how it's looking.
I have hooded eyelids,
so this really helps me see where the eyeshadow will actually sit when my eyes are open.
It makes it much easier to adjust the placement as I go.
Using another flat brush, I pick up my lavender shade
and gently pat it onto my lid, keeping it just underneath the brown line we created.

I build up the colour little by little,
packing it on instead of sweeping it across.
This gives a much more vibrant finish and helps avoid any patchiness.
Once I'm happy with the colour, I go back in and blend the brown a little more
so everything melds together and looks more seamless.
And using the tape as a guide, I apply my eyeliner.
This makes it so much easier to get a nice sharp wing,
especially if you're still practicing.
I got really excited because I didn't think it was going to turn out this well.
I'm really happy with the colour and I'm happy with the shape.
Overall, it's a decent first attempt.
Now we can go in with the same brown shade we used on the top lid
and run it along the lower lash line to tie everything together.
For the inner corner, I add a light shimmer to brighten up the eyes and make them pop.
Finish the look, I apply mascara to my bottom lashes for a little extra definition.
I know it's not the most perfect look,
but for my first attempt, I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out.
Every look is a chance to learn something new.
