The story kicks off with Lonny, a typical adolescent boy from California who is mostly interested in sports, gross jokes, and occasionally girls. Ripe for adventure, he scores a round-trip ticket to the beautiful shores of New Zealand for an extended visit with his sweet Aunt Leah, his local friend Kanziora, and his deeply eccentric grandfather (played brilliantly by The Munsters icon Al Lewis). But the vacation takes a wild, magical turn when Lonny realizes his grandfather isn't just full of infectious giggles and a thirst for adventure—he's actually a friendly, century-old vampire! When Gramps unexpectedly "passes away" but refuses to stay dead, Aunt Leah's paranoid partner Ernie decides it's time to break out the wooden stakes. Now, it's up to Lonny and Kanziora to hide their undead grandpa, outsmart the local townsfolk, and protect their family's wildest secret.
