5-Minute Snare Drum Paradiddle Workout with Atlanta Drum Academy. Grab your snare drum sticks, your snare drum practice pad, and your metronome, and come work out with Mr.Riles of Atlanta Drum Academy with this Paradiddle workout.

In this video, Mr.Riles takes time to break down the Paradiddle rudiment from sticking to the check pattern. He also plays the snare drum pad at different tempos for different leveled players.

One key to becoming a great drummer is building efficiency in your hand movements. To build efficiency, drummers learn and practice a wide array of drum rudiments that form the basis of their playing. One essential rudiment, used by drummers of all genres, is the paradiddle.

What Is a Paradiddle? A paradiddle is a drumming rudiment that combines single strokes with precisely placed double strokes. In drum terminology, “para” means "single stroke" and “diddle” means "double stroke," and thus the term describes a sticking pattern where a single stroke is followed by a double stroke. Drummers perform strokes using beaters—most commonly drum sticks, but also hot rods, mallets, or wire brushes.
