Tomorrow afternoon and Saturday afternoon than today, but the bottom
line is tropical air mass in place for a few more days. It'll get better by
Sunday and Monday. Okay, sounds good. Thanks so much. You got it over to
Marissa for the Marissa Mitchell show. All right, thanks so much. And I think
there's some food left over in the kitchen from good day. I'll see if I can
dig in and just a bit. But first, I gotta get through the Marissa Mitchell
show. Welcome in.
That means it's time for the Marissa Mitchell show, where today we have a
financial power hour lined up from using artificial intelligence to
earning some extra cash to some simple strategies to build generational wealth.
We have it all. I'm talking leading experts to help you make some money
moves and live your best life. Now you have structure and volume. Step two.
Don't post everything.
All hail the queen of A. I. That is first tech royalty. Artificial
intelligence guru Alicia Little. She's gonna share some ways you can make more
money or even a successful side hustle with A. I. You know how we do it. We
love to get your questions, your comments. So scan the QR code on your
screen to send Alicia a question. She's gonna read those in just about 20
minutes. And after that, get your financial bag in order. We know it can
be tough, but it's never too late to start. A top life coach will explain
how you can remix your situation at any age. Then we're focusing on
generational wealth. I told you I had you covered. A money strategist
explains how building equity can impact generations to come. So now let's get
right to it. A lot has been said about artificial intelligence and its cons.
But if used right, our first guest insists you can make some money. She's
being called the queen of A. I.
My name is Alicia, and I'm the queen of A. I. And I'm about to change
everything you know about running a business. My clone thinks she can do my
job. She means business CEO and co founder of A. I. In a vision. Alicia
Little. Welcome. Thank you so much from joining us. We do appreciate it. But
first, I want to remind our M squad, our viewers to scan the QR code to send
you their questions, comments, concerns so you can dig into those a little bit
later in the show. Alicia, welcome back. I want to begin with your moniker and
how you became known as the queen of A. I. Absolutely. Hi, Marissa. And thanks
for having me here today. So I was speaking at an event back in 2023. It
was called the Board of Experts. And at that event, I was teaching the audience
about A. I. Agents. And there was a lady in the audience. Her name is Debra. And
she said, You are the queen of A. I. And it stuck with me. And she as I was
posting on social media, she followed me around social media and kept typing that
under everything I posted until the nickname stuck. And so that's how I'm
known as the queen of A. I. Shout out to Debra for paying attention and then
also following up and following through. So how can we begin to use A. I. Alicia
to build extra cash, maybe even a side hustle? Sure, sure. I love it. So
there's so many different ways that we can use A. I. To help us save money to
make money. So let's talk about making money first. So let's just say we're
using the tool Chachi B. T. First, I'm gonna tell you to make sure that you
have your security settings set up on Chachi B. T. So go to settings and then
security and set up your multi factor authentication to keep your account as
secure as possible. And then also go to the data control settings. And then
there's a part that says improve the model for everyone. My recommendation is
that you turn that off. That way, the data and information you're putting
into Chachi B. T. Won't be used to train its models. And then if you're using
Chachi B. T. Often, you can ask it a question like based on everything that
you know about me from our past conversations and the different things
that we've worked on together, give me five different ways that I can make
money based on what I'm already doing and who I am currently. And if you have
any questions to help you do this for me, ask clarifying questions. So it will
ask you like 5 to 10 clarifying questions and then you answer those
questions and it's gonna say, you're really good at this. You should think
about this and this and you should think about this. And then you say,
all right, now give me a plan to make. How much do you want to make to make a
million dollars in the next year with idea number one? I love it. I can do
that. I could start a business doing that and then it will write out your
plan. And then you say, now tell me what I need to do on day one. Today is day
one. What do I need to do on day one? It will give you your plan on what you
need to do on day one. Follow that plan and you can see how it can help you
guide you as a business strategist. I'm so glad that you started about the
multi authentication, all of those things because that was one of my
questions, safety and privacy concerns as it relates to using AI, especially
when it comes to your money. Say, for instance, you're a novice and you
haven't used chat GPT or some of the others that are out there. What are the
prompts you should use to begin that conversation and getting that guidance
from the tech? Yeah, sure. So if you've never used it before and you're opening
it up for the first time, you're like looking at the blank screen and you're
saying, what do I put in here? You can simply say, this is the first time that
I'm using you. I don't even know what to ask, but I know what I want. My goal is
to start a side hustle. I already work full time. I want to start a side hustle.
What information do you need from me? That's the key right there. What
information do you need from me and to know about me so that you can guide me
and give me ideas for a side hustle? It's going to ask you all of these
questions and then it gets to know you better. Now, once it gets to know you
better, you answer all of those questions and you're working with it. You can say
everything that you just learned about me, lock it in your memory. And these
tools now have great memory, which you can use to your advantage. So you say
lock it in your memory and you see in this case, chat GPT will say memory
updated. And then when it says memory updated, it's locked in its memory. So
the next time you go to use it, you don't have to tell it all about yourself
all over again. It will use what it knows about you to then advise you and
and keep going with your strategies. So train the tools. That's the key right
there. It's all about training the tools to get to know you. They're tools and
out of the box, they're generic. So you need to have personalization and that's
having conversations with it, giving it more information so that it can serve
you better. How do you find small business owners? How are they using AI to
to make work easier and cheaper if you will? Sure, sure. So business owners are
using these tools to fill gaps, to relieve bottlenecks that they have in
their business. So a great example for me is that I needed more press releases
to go out so that I could get, you know, more media attention, help me build my
brand and to create a press release myself. It takes me three hours to write
one and then I've got to send it to somebody else to edit it to make sure
that it looks good before it ever gets distributed. But now what I do is I
created a press release agent or you can create some great prompts where I go to
my press release agent and I type to my agent, I need to write a press release,
hello. It asked me five questions. I answer those five questions. I usually
dictate them, speak them out and then it crafts the best press release. Now that
process is five minutes. So I go from a three-hour process to it now taking five
minutes. It's not just saving time, it's also saving resources. You know, if I
would have had to hire someone but didn't have a budget to do it. And then
also now in that same amount of time I can write ten press releases instead of
writing just one. So when we're leveraging artificial intelligence, we're
using it to save time, be more productive and honestly in my case to get things
done that I wasn't even gonna do before because it just takes too much time. And to
get more visibility, right? For what you do using it to make a marketing copy but
also handling customer service, building budgets. These are different things that
you can use it for. Absolutely, absolutely. So when we're thinking about like using
it for customer service, we have chatbots that our customers can go to to get
quicker answers, to get the things that they need. We've created something called
AI Alicia where we've uploaded, you know, my past recordings and trainings and if
my customers have questions like, oh what were you teaching us last week? They
can go to AI Alicia and type in their question and it will pull from the past
recordings and it's an AI version of me teaching them and training them. So it
saves me a lot of time and makes a better customer experience. And when
we're talking about budgeting, you can, you know, I want you to have your
security settings up and your privacy settings set correctly. But as an example
I have put in, you know, my credit card statements in it to an AI tool and then
asked it to analyze my credit card statements and it will show you what
you're overpaying for, the subscriptions that you have that you know you don't
need and you could cancel and it will estimate how much money you're saving a
year if you were to take these different things into consideration. I also put in
like my, some of my expenses in and then I told it, hey I have these credit cards
am I paying for something that I could be getting free as a bonus on one of
these credit cards? And it found three things saving me over four hundred and
twenty dollars a year. So I'm using AI to say, hey look this is what I have, what
am I missing? Where could I also be benefiting? And then I told it this, these
credit cards that I have, what are the benefits that they have that I'm not
taking advantage of? And I found over six thousand dollars in benefits that I
could be taking advantage of that I now am that I wasn't before. So you know
we're using AI to help us in all these different ways and ChatGPT now has a new
finances section that they've just rolled out. It's not available to
everybody yet but it's being rolled out where you can connect your bank accounts
through a secure service. It's called Plaid and you might have heard of that
before because it's what connects it on other like QuickBooks and those
different things. So you can connect your bank account and it can analyze
your subscriptions for you and your bank statements and help you to, it's not
connected directly to your bank account but you know you're connecting it through
this third-party tool and then you can you can use it to help you with
budgeting and see where you're spending. A lot of times we just need a second eye
or a second opinion and that AI opinion is unbiased and it's gonna tell you this
is what you're doing, this is where you could be saving or things that you need
to look at. Alicia I have to be honest I don't get excited about budgeting but
the way you just put it with AI I can't wait to get there and of course have the
security buffers but see what it can tell me with all of the prompts you just
gave us. Listen hang around I know there are a lot of questions and comments
headed your way so that's where you can stay abreast and connected with Alicia.
Also scan the QR code she's gonna hang around to take your questions your
comments we're going to read those in just about 15 minutes. Well today's hot
sheep gets the money makeover as well and they look like money. Media
personalities Antoine Pollard and Brittany Alexandra they are suited up
ready to go to talk all things cash and controversial. After the break the
surprising number of people who only date partners with bigger paychecks than
their own. I cannot wait to get them to weigh in. Plus a bit of money motivation
to the Remix Coach has some simple steps to pursue your financial goals and
you can do that at any age or stage of life. Also tips to create financial
freedom for generations to come you got to think ahead.
CEO Shamari James shares how to build equity that lasts. Back with today's hot
sheep have media personalities Antoine Pollard Brittany Alexandra here loan me
$20. I know you all got it. I know you spend it. That's so cute. I know there's controversy about the song but I think it's fun. Well we're here for Carisha. Please. Come on. We are here for that. Number one song. Spend it.
Spend the money. You all ready to get to it? Of course. Alright well almost half of Gen Z, these are adults ages 30 and under, say they will only date someone who earns more money than them.
29% when you talk about all adults so maybe it's less important the older you get. I don't know. Anyway one in three people say you should reveal your salary when you become exclusive with someone. Okay.
Intuit is behind all of this. I'm going to get you on only dating people who earn more than you. Hot or not. Everybody knows I'm bougie Brittany so hot. Period.
We can't talk. I'm just saying. You said I don't want no scrubs. No scrubs. But see I think that but see again for me and trying to say that I could I could make I could make the coin. Okay. Okay.
I'm on this side. I'm on this side of the studio. But here's how I feel Marissa. We are hardworking women. We work hard for our money honey. And if you are not coming at least equal or a little bit more then I just feel like I can't.
Well what if someone has a good honest job and they're doing the best they can. Here's everything you need outside of the money. That money can't buy. Think about it.
I'm just to realize Brittany and Antoine that it's important to know how to manage your money and to have something to bring to the table how much you make it's what you do with the money.
I mean there are people sitting on six big figures try. Yeah, you know, but I think what's what's inside matters
We can work together to get you to breathe. This is true. We love to is better than one exactly, right? However, once again
You know that about
Owning it ladies. I know there's a lot of ladies out there that feel the same way
But look you got to work hard, okay
I you know, we work hard we work hard for our money and all that
So it'd be one thing if I'm just you know, chillin, but I'm not just like don't ask for anything
You're you're not but you're right
You're honest man, and you are working hard and you may not make what I do then maybe we could figure something out boo-boo
Here you go through the screen
Now to a recent guest who visit us here on the show for my love and marriage DC star Ashley Silva
Now she's going viral for what she said about another show shows
She claims that she pitched a show that was ignored only for a very similar project to hit Netflix
According to her post she worked on her version for several years and this has happened to her more than once
Now she did say hey, I'm not saying the idea is directly connected to those projects that got green-lit
I'm just exhausted and I'm tired of hearing your time will come
When people use that phrase your time will come for people who feel the way Ashley does is that hot or not?
Mmm, not I know
The Silva family I've seen how hard she works
I think you see this in a lot of different industries where you know
You have an idea that somebody's in the meeting and they say the same exact thing you said you're like
I literally just said that right so we see it from a day-to-day basis
At the end of the day your time will come based on when God wants your time to come first and foremost, right?
I hate to see this for her but sis hang in there your time will come
I know you probably heard it more than once
And Carmen's very real right you want to steal an idea the tables will turn eventually
I feel as if the thing said it's in God's timing if it's meant for you
It's meant for you
It may be a reason as to why you're not getting and look we just talked about Carisha and Carisha before she came out with
That song said Tyler stole her song Chanel, right and there was all up in arms about that
And now Carisha dropped a number one hit so who's to say that that just wasn't your time
I think for Ashley, maybe she should take the time to look at the team
She has and having maybe the resources to either start her own show
Yeah, and I'd have to rely on Netflix or others or a different way to go about getting that idea
One way to get what you want to get the things that church that you're striving for
Yeah, I think about it
We all got a hustle we all got passions and dreams that we can we can do it if one door is not there
Don't you say do it yourself make your connections network?
That's how you get through and the industry is weird and luckily she has thick skin right because it can be like this
So your time's coming. So yeah, I gotta say what's for me doesn't miss me
You gotta remember that here in Italy your time will come speaking of time. It's time now to bring out
This week I don't know with all that humidity
Your time will come well, I'm afraid that you know the thunderstorms your time may come for a thunderstorm this afternoon
People are worried about the Chris Brown and usher
Scattered storms tomorrow night and Saturday night. I don't think it'll stop you from going to go
Okay, but look out later this afternoon could be some strong storms locally gusty winds heavy rain that kind of thing
We're actually under a flood watch starting two o'clock Saturday. Oh my okay
Fortunately, I'll be home by then
Thank you both for coming
Good chat. All right. Are you tired of asking friends or family? Let me hold some cash
You're tired of having to do that. We'll still ahead log off the money apps for good
Thanks to a tax expert simple strategies for financial freedom
Also scan the QR code last call to send the Queen of AI your questions and your comments my producer
Victoria says we're already getting some streaming. Let's keep it coming. We'll be right back
Back now with the Queen of AI who's reading your messages Alicia. Thank you for hanging on
Let's get right to it with your questions
NA can I use AI apps to help with stock market trends to predict trends? I
Like it's not gonna tell you the winning lottery numbers or you know
Give you the exact what's gonna happen, but you can use it in this case to say
All right
I want to analyze my charts take a screenshot of your charts put it into your favorite AI tool and it will tell you
You know what you're doing on your charts
And then it can also tell you historical data from the stock stock market to help you make your decisions
Of where you're going to invest your money
So don't treat it as a crystal ball, but treat it as a decision-making partner really good question
We have another one coming in from Stu. What is your favorite AI app to use? Which one should I use for money?
What a really good question. So here's the thing. It depends on what problem I'm trying to solve
So if I'm trying to make images, it's chat GPT images if I'm writing an e-book
It's going to be clawed if I'm creating a website app
It's going to be base 44
so it depends on the problem that I'm trying to solve but I tell people like think about the first problem you're trying to
Solve and you can ask any AI tool
Which is the best AI tool to do this this and this for me create a website
Great answer. We got one more 20 seconds
Is it safe to put my financial info into an AI app?
Will it pop up elsewhere and that's from Cindy Cindy you need to make sure that you set up your data privacy
This is where I tell you go to settings
Click on data controls and make sure that it's turned off the ability for the AI to share your information
With the AI to train its models turn that off turn it off on all the AI tools that you use gotta take those
Safeguards, Alicia the queen of AI. Thank you so much for joining us
I appreciate you and our viewers certainly appreciate your expertise. Take care. Thanks so much. Bye
Moving forward now
So fun and smart never feel a little overwhelming though when it comes to starting a new financial chapter
or maybe you're struggling to drop a money habit if that's you don't worry because after the break a
Top life coach will join me with some simple steps to reset and reinvent your life at any age or phase
Today's show is all about finance and I called in some really good help if you feel burned out or you don't know where to
Start our next guest reminds us that it's never too late to take the first step
If you're ever questioning yourself if you're ever wondering if you can tell yourself I can
right
Instead of talking yourself out of whatever you're trying to do if it's good for you if it works for you if it feels good
In your soul and your spirit and you're doing right by yourself say I can
So that's so important to say because it's never too late to remix your life at any age
Stage or phase of life. Come on. That's a bar. I could have said that come on
I'm joined by award-winning life coach and author Kendall Lanise aka the remix coach. Thank you so much for coming
It's a pleasure. And thank you so much for having me and congratulations on this show
Thank you. It's been a blessing and thank you for all of the viewers. Yes who have been supporting
I mean you get right to the heart of the matter. I think so far we've been focused on dollars and cents
Yeah, but we got to talk about the mindset. Yes that we have about money. Yes
So as a remix coach, it's so important to remix your life in the totality of your life
So finances is one of them and when you talk about the summer right as we're both in summer colors
This is a great time to reset because we're in the middle of the year
So it's a good time to re-examine your finances
re-examine your life and what is serving you and what is not and that could be even financially because
There's a such thing called a blue mine
Theory and that's by dr
Wallace Nichols and it just talks about and I'm taking it to water but being in and out and around
Water can do something to your mental health as far as
The stress-free part of it. So when we come to finances, a lot of people are stressed out
So in the summer take your book take your binder take your phone and start
Re-evaluating your life including your finances and say, okay, where can I pivot this summer? Okay
I want to go on vacations in
December for the holiday. So let's see where I can pivot and make adjustments now. There you go
I think it's true. A lot of people are stressed about their money or they use money to relieve stress
We talked about retail there. Yeah all the time. So, how do you begin to I guess identify what's costing you?
Okay, if it's not serving you and if it's making you stressed out
It's not costing you a better and healthy spirit in life
So if you're stressed and strapped every month and it's time to re-examine everything and say, okay
What am I doing? Because a lot of people talk about fun, right? I want to have fun. It's the summer time
But the thing is it's like you can budget fun
Right because people are like I only live once I want to live my life and I want to spend my money and I don't
Want to take it with me because you can't take it like Denzel said there's no U-Haul behind the hearse, right?
But the thing is you can still budget for fun. Like okay. This is what I'm gonna do this month
Let me budget to make sure my business and finances are in order
But I can be able to sit by that water or go on the vacation that I want and not feel stressed out
So we have to change our mindset over money and that scarcity kind of mindset
Yeah, I believe often people attach discipline to being strict or restricted. Yes, but sometimes discipline affords more freedom
Yeah, if you're disciplined now, you can enjoy
Your labor later. So speak to the people now who are considering a career change
Pivot if you will or yeah, maybe they're going through a huge life transition
A spouse has passed away or a new baby is in the picture
Yeah, how can they begin to get and keep their financial houses in order when they're dealing with so many emotions?
Yeah, and this doesn't yeah pause
The first thing to do is just to pause because when you're dealing with life changes and you're trying to remix it you're here
Yeah
so the first thing is to pause breathe the reset and
Then examine the finances with anything you have to acknowledge what's happening and see what's happening
So when I do remix the R is for renew you got to renew your mindset
E is for eliminate eliminate what's not serving you M is move forward in spite of everything that's happening
What's going on move forward I is for?
Initiate you're going to initiate this new life for you these transitions for you and X's people don't understand
It's okay to be extra
Right, you know, it's okay
We are extra but it's it's okay to be that way
so it's time to change the mindset on how we view money a lot of us grew up in
scarcity in the
Mindset and trying to make ends meet and they're not meeting and month more month than money and all of those things
But we have to pause because just as easily as money can come into our hands it can go out
So we have to be open right and we have to attract money to us
And if it's it if it's meant for us, it'll be bad
It'll be bad. Embrace the season that you're in. I mean, I've had empty nesters
I hear on this show a few weeks ago and even that's another life transition and embracing it
And I think once you do then everything else wouldn't necessarily fall apart
But fall into place that part if you let them that part and most people hold on to your tight
When it comes to life when it comes to money when it comes to the transitions in life
People are so afraid to pivot people are so afraid to move forward
People often get stuck and that's the problem and that's where I'd like to help people
Because it really is never too late to remix your life. It's not just a saying that I coined
I have remixed my life over and over again, and it's important for me to teach others how to do that
And that's why I say at any age
Stage or phase of life. You can do things differently. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing things the same way
We know what that's called
I'm tapping the screen. I'm talking to you because
It's I don't like to see people feel like they're stuck
But and I say feel like they're stuck because essentially they're not when they change their mind
They change their life, and it's so important to reset and summertime is a great time to
Reset it's the longer days
You know like you said we're outside
And it's it's a it's it's more light so which makes people more happy
More free some people take vacations in the summer less work
It's a good time to invest in yourself right invest exactly what can people stay connected learn more?
And maybe work with you. Yeah, well they can go to my website Kendall anise calm
Available on all social media platforms at Kendall anise and on tick-tock. Oh, I love me some tick-tock at the remix coach all right
Well, thank you for coming
Started today, okay great all right well
I'm going to say goodbye to her, but I want you to say goodbye to I owe you
You want to get those out of here after the break our money moves show continues with strategies to unlock
Financial freedom plus a mid-year reset that leads to success and later how to stretch that money further
I'm going to speak with someone about generational wealth
We have the co-founder of equity now sharing how to secure the bag for years to come and he's teaching kids
To do the same we'll be right back
back now with the money moves
$94,000 each year that's the salary that it takes to achieve financial independence if you ask the average
American
57% of Americans still rely on family or friends for cash and of those who don't feel financially independent
Half don't think they'll ever be able to pay their bills without help
So I want it helped here for us to help us all become and stay financially independent
So here now with some keys to unlock
Financial freedom as entrepreneur tax strategist and financial educator dr. Bria Harris good to see you good this twice this week
Okay, what does independence I guess financial independence really look like so
Financial independence is actually creating a strategy for the future
The wealth right? I think a lot of people are still financial financially dependent
because of lack of tax planning lack of strategy lack of financial knowledge lack of
Education behind credit just a lack of knowledge in general. So I think a lot of us when we sit down
We're not thinking about the future. We're thinking about now many households
lacks financial
Literacy conversations. I mean most of us didn't grow up in a household where we actually talked about money. That's true
Talked about how to be a wealth, right?
So when you see people and they say hey, how can I be financially independent?
You need to plan better and don't live just for now stop living paycheck to paycheck
Start actually coming up with tax planning sit down with someone like myself or a financial advisor set up IRAs set up Roth Roth account
set up
For 1k retirement set up a tax plan right set up a better budgeting
I think those things actually help a little bit more
I think that's incredible because so often people know what they don't know in some cases and the first thought is well
I don't have the money to pay an expert to teach me what I don't know, but you're saying don't stop there
There's a way out of your situation and to build exactly my mom. I'm being honest
I came from household
It wasn't taught this right
I didn't learn a lot of the things that I learned until I got an adult and started going to college for to be an
accountant right so I went and I
Researched even if you don't have the money to sit down with somebody it still is an excuse
You can sit there so much resources out here that you could actually find out some of these things without even having to go to
An expert so well, let's let's go there then
Where do you start even if it's a small step forward?
Well, you start first. Hey, where do I see myself five years or now?
Where do I see myself ten years from now right?
Start from there right out of plan right if I make it six thousand a month right out of that six thousand
How much is gonna cost me to live? How much can I sit here and save?
What can I put to the side for this right? What's the difference between a high-heeled account?
What's the difference between a savings account and a bank? What's the difference between the two of them?
What's gonna make me more money? Okay? Well the bank makes nothing right so that's where you're gonna
Keep your emergency funds right where if something happens and you like, you know, something happens your job
You know, you want to save up some of that rent you want to see what some of that mortgage?
So you won't sit here and say man. I gotta go move out
You know, I gotta find another job because I didn't save up
That's what you use that for then you use your high-heeled account and you invest that because that's what a real savings because some of
Them have three four five percent. Yeah
Money is sitting still right just like what's there between a 401k and a Roth, right?
So which one to be better for you? Can you can you retire as entrepreneur? Yes, right, but which one be better for you?
So these are things again just looking up and researching even if you can't sit down with an expert right?
Knowledge is out here. It's up to you. It's up to you to go and get it exactly an entrepreneurship
I want to talk about some of the hidden costs that are often associated with that people want to I want my own
Business and make my own money, but there are certain things they need to look out for too
Exactly so be an entrepreneur means one month. You may have $100,000 month one man
You may have for $4,000 month one week. You may make 10,000 right one week. You may 400
Let's be realistic. All right, and I think what it is a social media has this this this this this
This highlight of you know, everybody I'm this I'm doing that I'm buying Chanel bags every day. No, you can't do it
Nobody's post right eviction
Nobody see her saying like man, I don't think I could make payroll this week. I gotta figure out if I could rob Peter to get
here
Those are things that come with entrepreneurship. Let's just be honest, right?
But again, a lot of people live off what they're grossing
So say for instance, I made a million dollars and I actually bring it home a million dollars
What am I bringing home after expenses with my business? That is what my annual gross income is
That is what I want to make my estimated tax payments on and a lot of people don't do that
People want to say or say I'm a millionaire. I'm a millionaire. But are you bringing that home after?
payroll
marketing expenses
travel expenses
staff
All of those things. Yeah, and that's why too you can't even go by income
We were just talking in the hot sheet about people saying well
I only date people who make more money than me
There are people who are making a lot of money still living paycheck-to-pay
Habits are still the same and if you do not plan it just like my clients with tax planning, right?
Taxes doesn't start when January hits and that's what a lot of people go wrong with right?
Taxes start from January to December. You have to plan the entire year
What deductions can it can you save at the end of the year for taxes?
But you're an entrepreneur or individual right or if you're individual you're w-2. Are you adjusting your w-4 correctly, right?
Are you taking that additional taxes if you make it over seventy five thousand a year, right?
Because again, everybody want to say oh every year you owe every year because you're not planning correctly
So that's the same thing with budgeting right and entrepreneurship as well
You're just not planning and that it was what a lot of people go wrong
It is just a lack of strategy lack of strategy and lack of knowledge and lack of knowledge you yeah
And finally here
I think you're a perfect example of someone who who climbed out of a situation and now you're helping others
I did what do you think was that the moment in your life or that the thing in your life that made that?
Transition happen for you. I used to work for corporate America and
They promised me
That I was up for a position
Okay
When they gave the position of somebody who didn't work nearly as hard as me. I'm talking about came in
I was doing overtime. I'm working six seven days a week. I'm doing everything, right?
Why am I doing this for somebody who don't care
All right, so that was my time to say hey
Yeah, it may be time Brie. I think you always had that entrepreneur spirit in you
It's time
I took my last 10,000 and my savings and started my business and I grew it to a multi-million dollar firm and how long and
Two years incredible in two years Wow
So I started my I started I started while I was still in corporate
I went full-time in 2020 2020 my first time I hit six figures after that
I asked my after that about 2022 was my first 1.1 million dollar a year
But again, that was just God employers
Promotion to yeah
Yes, I went from somebody paying me a hundred thousand a year to making that a month, right?
So then I'm like, hey, you know, so it was it was meant for me
But entrepreneurship is not meant to for everybody. We still need our doctors you guys
We still need our teachers nine or five people. It's okay because I think they glorify us so much
But everybody's not really ready for those those hiccups to come and everything else. Oh, yeah
Yeah, you know what? We could have had you
Everybody else sit here the entire hour. I have another guest to get to to get into building generational wealth, but dr
Bria Harris, thank you so much for coming. No, thank you so much for being a testament of what's possible. Okay in two days
We're gonna stay on top of your money with our next multi-generational guess
So if I was in K through 8 learning financial education from an organization like equity now
That told me the difference between financial literacy and financial education because financial literacy is just knowing it
But financial education is the practice of it and financial wellness
I will be light years ahead of where I am now, but dear God and mama don't strike me down
I'm happy to where I am and I am absolutely humble
However, we're ensuring that we're not playing this game of trying to catch up with other individuals
We are teaching the knowledge right now so we can break generational curses
You just heard a bit about the mission behind equity now the nonprofit promotes financial education and generational wealth through schools and community-based
Partnerships and today I have co-founder. So Mari James. This is the co-founder. This is Ashton
He's clearly the co-founder
I know you all know that in Ashton here to talk more about it and Ashton is just 10 years old
Yeah, getting all of this knowledge from you. I wish I was in your shoes and had that type of
Valuable information at a young age. I want to begin with you
So Mari talk about your your nonprofit and the work that you do. Absolutely. First off. I have to say
Thank you the amazing work that you're doing. We're humble and honored to be here
So we appreciate to be able to spread some information and some love to on your station
Equity now equity now is a not-for-profit
Financial wellness organization and what we do is we teach financial education
Beginning in kindergarten all the way up through to adults. Why do you believe kids don't get this in school?
I think it's a travesty. I don't know if it's by design or but it's a thing. Oh, yeah, that's a good question
I don't want to put any feelers of blame out there
But what we do we understand that equity equals ownership and then ownership equals liberation
So when we teach kids to understand about money and how money works and that word that is kind of a scary word about
Capitalism once they understand it our scholars. They have agency and let it work for you
All right, because it's the way things things are planting those seeds early and we're watching one of the trees grow here
Ashton what have you learned with with working in this program and Shamari here? I've learned how to invest and
The earlier you invest actually the better because you have more time for your money to grow. Oh, so what do you like investing in?
so the investments I have are
Apple Google Nvidia
Microsoft and
I believe that's it
You know what? A lot of ten-year-olds don't even use the word invest
They're not talking about investing in the company, but this is what it's about absolutely and in that the reason the scholars
They just pick it up because every single classroom is named after a fortune 500 company
So normally you would know miss Johnson, but now you know that miss Johnson's classroom is also in video
Okay, and so for people who are watching how can we all begin to to build a legacy of?
Generational wealth that will be passed down to the Ashton's in our own lives great question
So it starts with wellness right because financial wellness is first the key
We were all told and we learned things about money when we were three four and five years old
So we want to ensure that we eliminate our financial money traumas because we can trauma spin
It's not just about how much money you make is about how much money you can keep
Right. So once you deal with the trauma inside of you because we were told money don't grow in trees
Well, it actually does because paper is a commodity that could be traded once you get over that then you start getting into we don't
Say the word budget we say wealth allocation tool and then you open fun
Invest and donate and go from there and how can we learn more about equity now?
I think a lot of peers are perked up. I hope so after having you on today
So equity now Inc org Shamari Akil James, you can find this online. You could Google us

She said that there's evidence we feel more secure and less stress when we have enough cash to pay our bills
That makes sense, of course

Once we pass the threshold of security
She told the Guardian the best piece of advice focus on what money cannot buy like good bonds with your loved ones
