Hey babes, it's Jess.
Welcome back to my channel.
In today's video, I am sharing with you guys 10 tips on how to style for a petite body.
As many of you guys probably don't know, I am only 5'1".
If you guys deal with the struggles of having your jeans roll around your ankles and things
being too baggy and fitting weird, I got you.
Today's video is all about how to shop for and style a petite body.
These tips are all intended to make you look taller and more elongated.
So if you guys are petite, if you're 5'4 and under, it doesn't matter if you're curvy,
if you're slim, as long as you're under 5'4, this video is for you.
A huge thank you to Express for sponsoring today's video.
I'm so, so excited to be working with them on their summer denim campaign.
You guys, like, I love Express.
They have such nice, high quality clothes.
If you guys want to check out any of the pieces that I mentioned, they will all be linked
in the description box.
And without any further ado, let's get into it.
If you're petite, you've probably run into the situation where things just, they don't fit.
They're too long, they're too baggy, or maybe the torso, it just, it doesn't cinch in the right place.
Tailoring your items fixes all of that.
Now I think a lot of people are under the impression that tailors are very expensive.
While some can be, many are not.
The tailor my grandma has been using for years hems her pants for less than $10.
For something you're going to wear for a long time and you want it to look good, to shorten
the pant legs or highlight your silhouette is always worth it.
Definitely scope out local tailors and find out who does quality work for an affordable price.
I love shopping in the petite section.
Going to a place that actually has a petite section where things fit and things look good
and flattering is, it's just amazing.
If you guys have not been shopping in the petite section at your favorite store, you
are missing out because those sizes are specifically made for petite women.
If your favorite store does not have an in-store petite section, always check their website.
Express.com has a huge petite section, ranging from casual wear, like everyday stuff, to
business and office wear, to denim, and everything in between for petite women that actually fit.
Cuffing the hem of my jeans is one of my go-to hacks for adding a little height to my appearance.
By showing a little bit of my ankle, it not only shows off whatever cute shoes I'm wearing,
it also gives the appearance of faux height and length to your legs.
Necklines are another huge thing that can make or break your appearance when dressing
for a petite body type.
Typically, a lower neckline, such as a scoop neck or a v-neck, give you the appearance
of a longer neck.
Lower necklines also come in so clutch when it comes to being petite and busty.
Higher necklines, such as turtlenecks, when mixed with larger chest, oftentimes just kind
of distort your body, blur and blend everything, and make you look not great.
So experiment with necklines, find out what you like, what looks good on you, and what
you feel confident in.
I have always found it to be the biggest struggle when it comes to shopping for jeans because
they're just really long, and they just kind of roll under your ankle, but what you can
do when you're shopping for jeans and they don't have petite sizing is to keep an eye
out for ankle length jeans, crop jeans, or short sizes.
Ankle length jeans are intended to stop at a non-petite sized person's ankles, maybe
a little bit above.
On a petite person, they fall really nicely as just regular jeans.
Crop denim is also intended to fit the same way, where they cut a little bit higher, but
if you're short, they fit very nicely as regular jeans.
Express carries ankle length jeans, crop jeans, and short sizing in store, and as previously
mentioned, they have petite sizing online.
I have found that high-waisted pieces look great with a petite frame.
High-waisted pieces draws people's attention to above your natural waistline, making it
another way to make your legs look even longer.
I love bodysuits.
I think they are so great, especially if you're in the business world, and you always have
things untucking, and it might look unprofessional or frumpy.
Definitely try a bodysuit.
Highly recommend.
Bodysuits are great for styling a petite body type because you don't deal with all of that
extra fabric that most undershirts, tank tops, camis are going to have as they fit on you.
I find all the time when I buy an undershirt, it is so long, and it ends up just rolling
up because it's just too dang long.
So all of that crinkled fabric that just sits across your midsection is going to make you
look short and stumpy.
But the great thing about bodysuits is they never untuck.
They are always smooth and taut, highlighting your silhouette, accentuating your frame,
and slimming your figure.
The front tuck is like my star member of all of these tips.
I find it to be the easiest, the most go-to, and I find it to be multifunctional.
It makes you look more stylish and put together, and it also elongates the appearance of your
legs.
A little bit of extra fabric will give you that nice billow, will hide anything you want
hidden, as well as fall into a nice silhouette along your sides.
When it comes to skirts and dresses, above-the-knee hemlines will always make you look taller.
And my final tip, nude shoes.
Nude shoes are always going to elongate the appearance of your legs, as the nude of your
skin and the nude of your shoes creates a seamless, legs-for-day look.
Pointed shoes also gives the appearance of longer legs, so having a pointed nude shoe,
especially on the heel variety, is definitely going to just give you all of the legs and
make you look so, so tall.
That was it for today's video, guys.
I really hope you guys enjoyed it, and if you're living that petite girl lifestyle and
you have been struggling, I hope these tips help you because they seriously have helped
me.
I used to have no idea how to shop for the petite sizing and being short, and I used
to be really frustrated.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the video, if you saw anything that you thought was super
cute and you want to check it out, definitely check it out in the description box, especially
if you're looking for jeans.
