Crews battle fire near 5 Freeway in Sylmar

We're still up in the Sylmar area taking a look at this brush fire that's happening right off the 5 freeway. We've got really good news actually in a lot of departments. The fire itself starting to wane. LA County Fire, LA City Fire all out here working in a coordinated effort to knock down those flames and make it safe for the traffic to reopen. That is one of the big points. I can tell you the northbound 5 they have reopened a couple of the lanes out there relieving some of that pressure but if you're transitioning onto the 14 that is still closed. San Fernando Boulevard or San Fernando Road excuse me right there going to be closed in both directions probably for the duration of this fire. That's where all the fire apparatus and crews are staging but if you need to get northbound and onto that 14 that truck route definitely still open and moving pretty well out here especially on those northbound lanes and as far as the roadway goes to get around that Balboa over to Foothill and then Foothill will rejoin San Fernando after that fire incident. So keep that all in mind as far as the fire goes it's a couple of acres they are definitely starting to get a handle on it hopefully they'll have it out soon.
