The last day of the last 16. A day of drama, controversy and a World Cup farewell from an
all-time great. It's your World Cup Wrap day 27. Well, Atlanta played host to a meeting between
two legends and Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah as Argentina faced off against Egypt. The world
champions barely scraped past Cape Verde in their last round and it was a similar story here as
Egypt got off to a brilliant start taking the lead through Yasser Ibrahim. A goal celebrated
by Egypt fans across the world including here in Gaza. Well, Argentina looked to hit back straight
away through a Lionel Messi penalty but the great man showed he is human. Egypt's Mustafa
Shauviran making a great save. In the second half Egypt thought they doubled their lead but Zico's
goal was controversially disallowed. No matter a few seconds later Zico scored again and this time
the goal stood. Well, with Argentina looking down the barrel they needed a hero and with 11 minutes
left in the game they found one in Cristian Romero who made it 2-1. Then of course Lionel Messi
had to have his say. The little master grabbing the equaliser with World Cup goal number 21.
Then more controversy as Mohamed Salah looked to have been fouled by Enzo Fernandes. The referee
ignored it and Fernandes was allowed to score the stoppage time winner. So a great comeback by
Argentina as they win 3-2 but there are some who think they're getting undue help from officials
at this World Cup. Well, Egypt are going home but their fans left them in no doubt of how proud
they are of their team and their captain Mohamed Salah who has probably played his last World Cup
match. Well, after the drama in Atlanta it was a bit of a snooze fest in Vancouver as Switzerland
took on Colombia. Hardly any chances in normal time, a bit more action in extra time but still
no goals. So to penalties and it was the Swiss who prevailed 4-3. They reached the World Cup
quarterfinals for the first time since 1954 where they'll face the defending champions Argentina.
So the quarterfinal lineup is now complete. Eight teams knowing just three more wins and they could
be crowned World Champions. Don't forget you can catch all the World Cup match highlights and
