All right, it's seven o'clock on this Tuesday, July the 7th. Thanks for being
with us. I'm Bobby Castro and I'm Jen Lama. Let's get over to Maria. Yes,
that's right. He'd wave on the way. This is definitely July fried. This is what
we have been talking about. That's why we were enjoying the June gloom and the
May Gray. We don't have that this morning. Really, we've got a little bit
of sea breeze and the onshore flow, but you really have to be on the sand to
feel the effects of that cooling sea breeze. Otherwise, inland, it's just
very patchy cloud cover and some sunshine will be there to mixed in. But
then it's going to heat up, especially as we get to the latter part of this
morning into the afternoon. It's already 83 in Palm Springs, 65 in
Burbank, Palmdale, 73 degrees 66 in Ontario. Even after the mountains gonna
really warm up right now. It's 53 pleasant. It's actually feeling good to
be out for a hike at this hour. If you can get it 85 up into the mountains
eventually this afternoon, 101 in the high desert. Look at Palm Springs in
the low desert, 112. That is why we have the extreme heat warning there for
heat related illnesses. Really possible 98 for the valleys in the Inland Empire.
Heat advisories are in effect. Downtown L. A. Around 85 today to the mid 70s,
75 along our coast. I'll show you the extended outlook coming up in just a
few moments. But first, let's check back in with the stew and see what's going
on down below from Sky Fox. Hey, Stu, what's going on? Hey, good morning,
Maria. Good morning, everybody. Take a look at that 7 10 drive. Compton is
where we are. Haven't given a shout out to Miss Bucky in a minute. Miss Bucky
love you. And we're taking a look at that 7 10 drive southbound looking
really slow and go was kind of an okay drive when you're up by the five. But
by the time you get down to that 105, take a look at that. You're on the
break. Super slow. Go all the way to Long Beach. Now that 105 kind of like
I'm gonna steal this one from Maria. Kind of like an inversion area because
you can see it right there moving along super well in those northbound lanes.
But after that, you start hitting the brakes on that northbound 7 10 right at
that 105. And it's a real slow and go ride up to the five. Give yourself back
some time. If you're riding a 7 10, send it back to you all in the studio.
Good morning. Good morning, Sue. Thanks so much. Have a good day to you and the
crew. Well, it is over. Belgium defeats the U. S. Men's national team. That's
right. For reaction on that, we have Mario Ramirez. Are you at Tom's Watch
Bar? Yeah, you're at the same place that you were at last time, right? Yeah,
not yet. We're making our way to Tom's Watch Bar, but we're at Awakening Cafe,
and I have to say the fans feeling just as deflated as the balloons here from
the watch party that they had last night. They're still supporting Team USA.
They had a great run in the World Cup. You can see they've got the director
decorations out here, and we can tell you that after last night's game, the
roller coaster of emotional highs of this tournament fans walked away a bit
disappointed. So take a look. Let's go back to Seattle, where the U. S. Saw its
World Cup run come to an end against Belgium. After falling behind early,
Malik Tillman gets in a free kick in the 31st minute to tie the match at one.
That sends the crowd into a frenzy, but the celebration did not last long at
all. Just 61 seconds later, Belgium scored its second goal of the night.
Belgium finishing strong in the second half, rolling to a 41 victory to end
our World Cup journey. Team USA fans had this to say after that devastating
pretty good effort from our boys. But, uh, you know, America may be out of the
tournament, but America's determined still in America. So what's up on? Let's
enjoy the rest of it. After seeing our performance, the struggle is nothing
more than growth in disguise. We have to change our perspective on lens of what
the struggle in the pain must feel like. But in four years, be back,
recalibrate, learn, grow, get better, get our boys to higher ground. Go. I'm
surprised we got so far. So I'm thankful that we got to this round. You know,
it's the attitude of gratitude. Go USA. Come on. Don't concede another. And
that second half was tough to watch for USA fans, but it sends the Red Devils
into a quarterfinal matchup with Spain right here at L. A. Stadium on Friday.
A tough end to a memorable tournament for Team USA with watch parties across
the country left heartbroken, and the World Cup continues today with the
final two round of 16 matches now defending champions Argentina taking on
Egypt at nine o'clock this morning. So we've got less than two hours. This
place will be hosting a watch party, and we're now going to head over to
Tom's Watch Bar, where we're sure fans will be watching on pins and needles.
For now, that's the latest here in Inglewood. We'll send it back to you.
Yeah, that's that U. S. A. Balloon behind you is very emblematic right now.
Kind of sad looking. It's a very sad looking, but still, but still, you know,
hey, as that guy said, a lot to be proud of is nothing more than growth in
disguise. Attitude gratitude. Attitude of gratitude. That's what we gotta
have. Also in the round of 16 Portugal took on Spain yesterday. Cristiano
Ronaldo trying to extend his final World Cup run. 37th minute. The cross
is sent in the box. The header is saved. Ronaldo gets a foot on it. Ronaldo
can't believe he didn't score. Move ahead to the second half for on Torres
with the perfect pass ahead to Miquel Marino, and he scores with the left
foot. Spain wins one nothing and will now play Belgium on Friday in
Inglewood. After the match, Ronaldo clearly emotional as he walked off the
World Cup stage for the final time. The 41 year old said this 2026 tournament
would be his last. He's the only player to score in six World Cups, making his
debut in 2006 and finishes his World Cup career with 11 goals. I'm getting
all of us T shirts. Let's say attitude. Gratitude. Gratitude. Oh, you're such a
salty dog. You are in other news. The company at the center of that massive
warehouse fire in Boyle Heights has now met face to face with frustrated
residents. Lineage is a chief global operating officer. Jeff Rivera met
behind closed doors with residents and community leaders yesterday. Neighbors
are demanding to know why millions of pounds of food are still sitting inside
the warehouse. Rivera says the company is trying to get help to the community.
I'd say that there were, you know, we took a first step working with CCF to
try to get funds out there immediately to help the community. We're working
hard and taking next steps to improve the next 24 48 hours. What are the
action steps your company is gonna take following this meeting? Start the
demolition of that building and start removing food. That's our number one
priority. Rivera called the meeting productive, but one longtime community
member had a different take. He told me it was productive. Do you feel it was
productive? No, it was not productive, not productive from the standpoint of
the community that was there because all the communities stood up. Mom's put
up and spoke in Spanish and demanded accountability, demanded answers and
demanded a follow up meeting. He wouldn't even commit to a follow up
meeting. Councilwoman Isabel Jurado, who organized yesterday's meeting,
says Lineage has agreed to attend a town hall on Thursday with the mayor's
office and county supervisor Hilda Solis. A violent assault captured in
this social media post has ignited a campaign of solidarity and support for
Los Angeles street vendors. The city of Los Angeles announcing hate has no home
here. City leaders joining with social justice organizations to condemn the
violence. We will protect the small business people and the vendors in this
county. They should be able to sell to anybody they want and the patrons that
they sell to without fear of harassment, without fear of intimidation and
certainly without fear of violence. 19 year old suspect Harmony Heaven Church
has pleaded not guilty to assault, aggravated battery and vandalism charges.
The street vendor who was beaten spoke out yesterday.
It was not easy. Let's stop all this discrimination against street vendors
and trauma. She's got to live with now. Martinez also thanked people who came
to her rescue and those praying for her recovery. She says she's still
recovering from her injuries and is uncertain when she'll return to her
business. After weeks of investigation, police busted organized car theft
operation in Ventura County. More than $1.3 million in cars and evidence were
seized, including a Lamborghini, two Porsches, a Hummer and a Ford Shelby GT
500. The investigation began back in May after a brand new Chevy Corvette was
stolen from 1000 Oaks dealership. Detectives then uncovered a much larger
criminal enterprise involving dozens of stolen cars, fraudulent
registrations, altered VIN numbers and fake license plates. Investigators
tracked and arrested two suspects in North Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Disneyland is surprising its Anaheim neighbors with a special deal to
celebrate its 71st anniversary. Anaheim residents can buy a one day one park
ticket for $71 starting on July 16th. The tickets are valid from July 20th
through October 8th. Kids tickets cost just $50. $71. Not too shabby. 709
your time before we head to the break. Let's take you to the FIFA standings. So
far, this is brought to us by Nissan. There it is. Belgium punching its
tickets there to the next round with the USA's defeat. And we're looking
forward to that game today. Um, Argentina. Mhm.
Argentina versus Egypt. We'll be right back. We're following developing news
out of Washington. Many Democrats are now calling on one of their own to
drop out of a hotly contested Senate race. Maine's Graham Platner has now
been accused of sexual assault, jeopardizing Democratic hopes of
retaking the Senate. Let's bring in Doug Luzader live in Washington. Now
this is all because of an article and I believe Politico detailing a specific
encounter there too. But there have been allegations of sexual assault even
before that. That's right. But we had this one woman come forward very
publicly and make these troubling accusations against Graham Platner.
Platner has not dropped out of the race, but judging by how many Democrats are
not just abandoning him but telling him he needs to go, this may just be a
matter of time. Thank you. May Graham Platner had always been a different
kind of candidates. But now the oyster farmer, political newcomer and Maine
Senate hopeful is facing his most troubling accusation yet. I remember
specifically him like grabbing at my chest and I like hit his hand and I
said, don't touch me. Jenny Rassicott appeared on CNN accusing Platner of
sexual assault back in 2021. Any accusation of non consensual behavior is
categorically false. Appearing in a campaign video, Platner denied the
allegation but suggested a decision was coming regardless of the inaccuracy of
the reporting. But mindful the political reality it will inflict. We
are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward. I don't have
anything to say to that trash bag. Some Democrats were always uneasy with
Platner following earlier reports of a Nazi linked tattoo and troubling
behavior with women. But he won his party's primary and was seen as
Democrats best hope to defeat incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins and
possibly retake the Senate. California Congressman Ro Khanna had been one of
his biggest supporters. Now he writes on X. These allegations are very
serious and credible. Graham Platner should drop out from the race. I am
withdrawing my endorsement. A number of other Democrats and groups followed
suit and now the pressure is on both Platner and the party. Hard to overstate
how crucial the main Senate race is in Democrats long shot hopes of gaining
control. Yeah, Democrats need to pick up four Senate seats to get control of the
Senate. And they are really counting on one of those seats coming from Maine.
That's why so much is at stake here. And it's certainly possible Democrats may
come out of this with an even stronger candidate. But they're gonna really have
to thread the needle on this because there's not much time. Four months to go
before the election. Platner would have to decide in the next few days that he's
going to drop out legally. And then that would give Democrats an option to field
another candidate. But that's still a still a climb for Democrats. And that
deadline is before next Monday, right? That's right. And then Democrats would
have a brief window to find a new candidate. And it's not really clear
what that process would entail. But they would have to get behind someone and
replace Platner. Okay, so who is that someone? They go back to the governor
Janet Mills. And what are her negatives? Why did they not like her in the first
place and not support her? Even given all of this drip, drip, drip of all of
these negative allegations against Platner? Yeah, Janet Mills would have
been the establishment candidate, there's no question. She ran into problems,
though, because she's not not all that popular in the state. And she ultimately
had to drop out of the race for that Senate Senate seat. And that's what
cleared the way for Graham Platner to make it in. There's Troy Jackson is the
former, the former president of the Maine Senate, he would be a possible
candidate as well as Maine Secretary of State. I mean, there's some names out
there. But that is not much time to put together a campaign, the likes of which
Democrats would need to run against a strong incumbent like Susan, like Susan
Collins. I guess why is there this windfall of people pulling Democrats
pulling their support for Platner now because there were allegations of sexual
assault. I believe there was a an alleged victim who came forward for the
New York Times did an article about this person. Well, I'm not sure we had a
sexual assault allegation that was this clear. And you know, folks like Ro Khanna
for instance, a California congressman who was really supportive of Graham
Platner said that that was his red line. If there was a credible allegation of
sexual assault, he would have to pull his support for Platner. And indeed, he
did.
Well, that one that that first woman did say she had the receipts, but people did
not follow up on it. But yeah, you have to think it's just a matter of time
before Platner decides to step out of this race, because some think that there
are more allegations out there. And certainly there's concern that there's
gonna be more if he continues this and his campaign is, uh, we've seen this
happen before, right? Yeah, he's gonna be out of support and out of money.
That's a money issue. That's a big deal. All right, Doug, we'll have to see.
Thank you. Thanks, Doug. Thank you. Some American history was made on this day
back in 1976 for the first time ever. Female cadets were enrolled in the U. S.
Military Academy at West Point, New York. 119 women entered the gates that
day. They faced a lot of pushback during their time there, but they hung
in in their second year. The top academic student, in fact, in West Point
was a woman. And by 1980, when the first class of women graduated, they held
roughly 30% of all leadership positions at the academy. Pretty incredible
history. Was that you said that was 1980 was when the first the graduation
that's interesting. A lot of history there at West Point. West Point was a
big garrison during, um, well, the Revolutionary War for, you know, then
eventually became a place where army officers were commissioned there. So to
wait from, like, a 17 17 1700 all the way to 1976 before they allowed the
first officer is pretty, pretty interesting. Tough women such as such
as life as a woman there, huh, Maria? I couldn't do it for sure. I could not
do it up. Keep up with with that. But hey, good for them. And congratulations
and happy anniversary. I guess on this date, let's talk about this area of
high pressure that is going to be in control of our weather, producing some
extreme heat across the southwest, particularly out towards our lower
deserts. That July fry is here, friends. We've got temperatures that are gonna
be well above average today, tomorrow into Thursday. So heat alerts are
going into place today for the dangerous heat. So remember to stay
hydrated if you are gonna be out and about. And please do not leave anyone,
any pet inside a vehicle. Okay, don't do that ever. That's just a good idea
not to do that. We do have the temperatures dropping as that high sort
of slides back to the east as we get to the weekend. But here's the caveat.
We're gonna start to tap into some of that subtropical moisture. As you can
see that green stuff on the map, and that means we could get some not just
higher humidity values, but also a chance for some showers. We have
widespread heat advisories as well as extreme heat warnings. All the areas
shaded in that pink color there where temperatures get up to 116 degrees this
afternoon, tomorrow and into Thursday today, 113 expected in indio. If you're
headed to Las Vegas, 109 there, 77 in Inglewood. So the closer the coast you
go, you'll get some of that sea breeze and some relief related to the heat
inland, 19 Fresno though to 100 in Bakersfield. There's that effect of the
big area of high pressure. Big bear. Yes, up into the mountains. It will get
up to around 79 at one o'clock this afternoon. It's gonna warm up quickly,
actually, with plenty of sunshine and high and partly cloudy skies to start
sixties and then we'll get up to around the low eighties after lunch. One p.m.
82,000 oaks will get to around 83 later this afternoon with lots of sunshine.
Stay cool out there. I know Stu up in Sky Fox also staying cool watching the
heavier traffic that's devolving down below. Hey, Stu, good morning. Hey, good
morning, Maria. Yeah, we're trying to stay cool. We got the A. C. Going
already, so it's gonna be a hot one. No doubt about that. My home sold. That's
the skybox driving is brought to us by those guys. My home sold. Take a look
at that 605 drive and it's gonna be tough. Double check. No crashes, but
southbound. You're starting to hit the brakes right about Beverly, and you're
gonna be slow. Maybe even a little bit of stopped in there as well till you
get past that 105. Then it actually does open up and it becomes a better ride.
Northbound. Kind of the reverse. Once you pass that 105, you're hitting the
brakes up to the 60. The northbound. The unusual ride this morning. Give
yourself extra time. Northbound 605 through Whittier. Let's take a look.
Some traffic hotspot. Hi, I'm Adrian with my home sold, and we want to buy
your house. We buy any house in any condition. No commissions, no closing
costs and no repairs. Go to my home sold dot com for a free same day cash
offer. That's my home sold dot com.
All right. It was not the outcome that we were all hoping for not. Yeah. Team
USA. They're out. Belgium moves on. But you know, as we say, you have to have an
attitude of gratitude, right? Attitude. I'm making this T shirts. It's a
gratitude.
Yeah. Okay. 41 loss. It was hard to watch. Uh, now it's, you know, what's
next? It's so disappointing, right? Yeah. The game was hard to watch
yesterday. It was tough. It was like a bad dream, right? Everyone's waking up
this morning, really kind of feeling it, you know, and it seemed like a
completely different team showed up on the pitch last night for Team USA. Not
the team the world fell in love with, not the team were hope and belief that
it could be us seemed real. But we know that that team is still there. Their
identity has formed through all this and the comeback can only be stronger. Now,
while everyone's talking about their poor performance against an elite team,
the impact of Team USA will live beyond this World Cup. So from the first
whistle last night, the U. S. Men's national team could not find their
hesitant and scared, not connecting and playing cohesively, which was the key
to their success in the games leading up to this knockout round. A strong
Belgium team with a deep bench came out with fire and purpose, something
lacking from Team USA and Belgium was able to capitalize on every misstep and
mistake made by the Stars and Stripes in a game where the team needed to play
their best. They play their worst and key team leaders didn't step up to meet
the moment. The U. S. Has not advanced past the knockout round of 16 since
2002. Coach Mauricio Pochettino said he had a lot of things to say to the team
after the match, and now it's a time to reflect before thinking about what's
next. Like I told before, it's a very good team, but I think we were not in
our level. Um, I think we never connected with the game. I think we
in a poor way. I think we never were with the flow of the of the of the
game. They never got in it. Yeah. And this exit aside, there is no question
though. The impact this team has had on America, how they inspired the country,
a new generation, how this team has made people fall in love with the
beautiful game and the tapestry of stories that made you cheer for players
and their families, the sacrifice and ultimately the dream. You may have never
watched soccer before June 11th, but this team has changed that. I truly
believe that this has helped the team help the sport help the country grow in
terms of where we are in in the sport. And as we look our wounds, that's what
we're gonna be thinking about this morning. How's the team doing today?
Who are we hearing from? They're not Tyler Adams. And I was one. I know. And
he accredited all attributed all of the missteps, the little details as to why
the team didn't play well. Right. And honestly, a lot of them waking up
shaking, scratching their heads. What happened? Right. Why didn't we show up?
And those are the big questions I'll have to answer today. We did hear from
team Captain America, right? Everyone was looking to him. Christian ballistic.
He didn't really do much. Yeah. What do you make of his performance throughout
the entire tournament? You know what it is? And the part about America that is
kind of at fault for our stars and we make people just bigger than they are in
terms of marketing the social media surrounding this team. And we've done
that with Olympians, with pro athletes, right? The pressure is so much and so
great. And if they fall into the trap of believing their own hype, this is what
happens when you fall. And I really believe that part of this was the team
believing their height one that does that. I mean, there are there are young
stars all over Europe that they really look at and say, Hey, this is a young
rising start. The 17 year old from Mexico is 17 years old, and they're
already saying he's he's a huge, huge star. So we put a lot of men. He's
that's true. Making his mark. Romania Mall has so much pressure on him. Spain
as we're gonna watch Spain, uh, go on into the next round. There's so much
pressure on him, and he hasn't done much either. So it is the trap that so
many people and teams and sports athletes fall into. But I think all of
us bought into this that this was a very different team that we had seen in
years past that these air players, many of them playing in the European leagues
or different teams, our own soccer leagues, which we now can see are
probably not up to the same level of quality of the European teams. But we
all kind of bought into that and thought that we would really see a
much different team this time around. And I don't think that that last game
really showed that it showed that we still have a very long way to go. It
didn't come together when it mattered the most. Did they pay too early?
They're gonna think about all of that. What do they need to do to get a
stronger mentality going forward to compete with these elite teams? All of
those things are gonna be reflecting on right now. But clearly, this has been a
momentous, historic World Cup for the U.S. and the fact that we hosted it here.
So let's look at the positive. That's all I'm trying to say. I do see that there's a lot of new fans, which is great,
which will inspire the next generation, and maybe we'll find some of those
players, and they'll incubate more great players here from this country. We gotta
dig deep. But what happens also with Pochettino, because we're
talking about investments, but a big investment was made on this team, and
they specifically selected him to try and elevate this team, and four years
from now, do we keep him, or what happens with that? That's gonna be the big question.
He did elevate the team, you know? He created a culture and identity for the team, but
they had to win yesterday. They had to win. So we'll see what happens.
They're not answering a lot of that right now. Well, there's time. We'll see
what happens. Yeah. All right. We'll be right back.
We do have some breaking news to tell you about right now. Federal authorities
are targeting a violent international gang operating right here in Southern
California. Let's go out to Gigi Gracia. She has more. And you are looking live
where at El Monte, we're looking at one of the suspects in Operation Hardball,
part of a transnational international gang operating based in India. He has
just been taken into custody after a morning of following him all day, all
morning along this operation, years in the making. Arrests happening
simultaneously, not only here in Southern California. Today, though, at
least 23 have been taken into custody by the FBI. Again, this is a trans
national gang accused of extortion assassination attempts, including the
assassination of a very important political and religious figure in
Canada. So this is happening in Canada. It's happening here in the United
States. And according to the FBI, the gang, this criminal operation is
actually being run by two masterminds. And believe it or not, those two
masterminds are in prison in India. Yet they're calling all of the shots
across the United States across Canada, targeting primarily those of Indian
nationality, Indian descent. The Sikh community has also been targeted by
them. They blackmail, they extort, and they're also accused of trafficking in
drugs. Now again, you just looked at it live. This is one of many suspects
taken into custody today. We're gonna have much more on Operation Hardball
with the FBI coming up on Good Day L. A. For now, I'll send it back to you.
Gigi, do you have any idea where they were operating here locally and where
the suspects that have been apprehended here today that are being brought out
where they may have been picked up from? They are all over Los Angeles County.
We're going to get an update on exactly where they were taken into custody. For
example, we've been with the FBI all morning long targeting this one suspect
that you just saw taken into custody today. He broke his pattern, his usual
pattern of going to work from his home. He took a whole different freeway. He
took a whole different direction, and he ended up here for some reason. This is
the El Monte Metro station. No idea why he ended up here, but my gosh, he had a
slew of undercover agents following right behind them and then behind them
much farther back. Of course, for safety reasons, we were with the FBI waiting
for them to take this guy into custody. They decided just to let him drive to
see where he was going to go. And I can tell you that right now search warrants
are going to be executed at this guy's home, and this is happening all over.
These are very well planned out simultaneous raids. They happen
said so that suspects can't call each other and say, Hey, the FBI is outside
my house. Make a run for it. They must be on their way to your house. They
happen all at the same time. They're executed all at the same time. This
operation being run much like the Mexican Mafia. Now we've done these
stories before the Mexican Mafia. Most of the shot callers, as they're referred
to, are actually in prison, state and federal prison. Yet they're calling
assassination attempts. They're calling hits. They're calling drug deals all
from behind prison walls. Well, according to the FBI, this criminal
gang is doing the same thing, except they're based in India, and they target
the Indian community here in California. It's just amazing that, you know, with
technology today, you know, these these gangs can operate in prisons. These air
transnational eso we're looking at them operating not just here in the United
States, but in in Canada, and they're considered in for many of these
countries, the terrorist organizations responsible for killings for murders,
human trafficking and, as you said, drug trafficking as well. So all right,
we'll continue to follow the situation there. Gigi from El Monte, I believe,
is where you are, where they're conducting this operation, and we'll
check in with you as soon as you get more information. We appreciate it. Thank
you. Thank you. Thank you. Hard turn now. Hard hurt. Yeah, that's what we do
here on Good day L. A. Right. We bring you the news. That's right. Yeah. Hey,
let's talk about Dolly Parton. Let's do it. Good morning to you on this Tuesday.
Entertainment is sponsored by Yamaha Resort and Casino. You know that she
works 9 to 5. I think she works overtime and coast to coast because
Dolly is given her regards to Broadway. Dolly, a true original musical, is
coming to Broadway, and you're invited just like the title says. I mean, true
in every sense of the word. Now, this isn't about a story about sparkle and
shine on the outside. It's about what I really come from, what I've lived, what
I've lost, what I've loved and how I found my way and told it in my own
words and through the music that's been part of me every step of the
journey. That's right. The rhinestones were never the real story. Show me a
girl with some grit. Dolly, a true original musical will be a biographical
stage musical on the life, not just the career, but the life of the one and
only legendary Dolly Parton. The show's official opening night will be January
19th, which is so perfect because that's Dolly's 81st birthday. Putting the doll
in Dolly every single day. You know, I love her. You tumble out of bed, you
stumble to the kitchen, you pour yourself a cup of ambition, you yawn,
you stretch, you try to come alive. I'm sorry, when are we going to karaoke? I
don't know that was your karaoke song.
Julie, it's like my mantra. Yeah. Stumble out of bed only, you know,
I can't believe I'm going to say this because I would like to change it, but I
have never been to Dollywood. I have, but you went to her restaurant, which
you told me about in Nashville, right? Didn't you go to that one? No, I went to
Miranda Lambert's restaurant. Oh, no. Yeah, I thought you told me about that
one. It's she has a restaurant. It's all pink. No, no, but it was a bar. We
went and had drinks. Sorry, we didn't eat there. We had drinks there. I did
go top of the hotel. You know, Taylor Swift made a significant donation to
Dolly Parton's imagination library. Yes, she did. Yes, she did. I'm really sad.
You guys, I apparently talked all about Taylor Swift. We didn't really talk all
about it. Yeah, we mentioned it. You mentioned you went through it. You went
there's more detail coming out of that. Yeah, like like the bag raffle, the
bouquet. Did you see the bouquet? Did you see the woman that showed up actually
through the bouquet? It was a wedding. Was it not? Not every wedding. They're
not throwing bouquets at every wedding. That's kind of like old tradition. I
didn't throw a bouquet. I actually gave every woman at my wedding a single
rose. That's right. See? Yes, she did. So that everyone got something to say. I
mean, we don't do the garter anymore. Do people do? Some people do get up in
there. They get up in there. Yeah. You want to do it right now? Yeah. All
right. That's okay.
He's like pass. Hey, good morning to let's shout out the generations. The
millennials. Shout out to Gen X. Shout out to the boomer shot to the great
generation watching us. And yes, hello, Gen Z. Are you there? Well, Gen Z and
TV, according to the Wall Street Journal, it's not a match. It's not a
match. Young people are watching Tiktok more than TV, so they're not even
really hearing me right now. Whatever you want to him. Exactly. Northeastern
University conducted a national survey of Americans who were aged 18 to 34 who
consume news weekly on at least one platform and only 19% watch. Well, you,
me and Bob. Yeah. Local news on their television. Only 19%. They do stream us,
though, on YouTube. Our YouTube numbers for Gen Z are high. They're watching us
on YouTube. An extra special. Good morning to you. Gen Z years. Yeah, the
judges that are watching us an extra special. Good morning to you. This is
not a surprise, though, right? You're sure things are going. I don't know.
Everything's going on streaming. I don't know. I have the time. I'm gonna
be perfectly honest. I have no idea where we are. I don't know if we're if
we're on YouTube right now. If we are, we're on the Fox local. We are. Where
are we? Where are we? Where are you? And I'm so sorry. That's a very
millennial. Do you know what band that is? Uh, don't waste your time on me.
You're already the voice inside my head. Um, come on, just give it again.
Some 41. No, no. Blink 182. Blink 182. Yeah, it wasn't some 41. It wasn't some
41. Yeah, absolutely. Well, that leads us to our poll question of the day.
What's your biggest online time waster? Come on, all you doom scrollers. What
are you wasting your time on? Are you scrolling the social medias? Are you
shopping now? They got tick tock shop. It's getting me getting me. Do you do
gaming or are you streaming like watching Netflix or watching to be or
watching us? Go to Fox silly dot com slash vote. But don't only just vote.
Let us know. And I want to know where you're shopping. I want to know what
you're scrolling. I want to know what you're streaming and I want to know
which games you're playing. I want to know what you're buying to is candy
shopping carts. What's the candy? Candy? Candy crush. Candy crushes. There's
words with friends. I love words with friends. I need more friends to play
words with friends with. I know it's bad. I did. I know it's bad to doom
scroll and to spend an hour, but it is so satisfying. It is. It can be. It's
enjoying. Okay, bob, what's on your algorithm? You don't want to know. Let
me guess. A lot of torsos, a lot of torso dogs, dogs, current events. I
made dogs on mine. No, I know. I know what's on his algorithm. He told me one
time he said it's a lot of animals fighting each other. I used to have
that. What's going on? Like tick tock dances like they have that insect
instinct dance. Yeah, when everybody's doing that, I want you back and they do
the backstreet boys. That's backstreet boys. Wow. I'll show you. Good thing
you have us here. Good thing. Have us here. Hey, Stu, what is on your
scrolling algorithm? Like, what's what's showing up? What's on my
algorithm? Yeah, when I'm doing score page, I gotta say right now, a bunch
of high protein, low calorie prep stuff. I know. Very exciting. Very
exciting. And a lot of weird conspiracy theory stuff like the Lucerne proton
collider and they shut it off in the Mandela effect. And I just I just dig
all that. I do. I really do. And I dig traffic. And this traffic is brought to
us by Jacobian Myers. Injury lawyers. Take a look at that 105 drive top. It
is tough today. No crashes. We flew it from the 605 all the way out here to
almost Crenshaw Boulevard. Super slow and go those westbound lanes. Take a
look at that. But by the time you hit Crenshaw, it's like spooky. All of a
sudden, wide open, moving well for that last bit of that 405 drive. Now, if
eastbound your ride, yeah, you're gonna be driving into that sunrise. Bring
those glasses gonna be hot today. But the ride itself really looks good and
almost stays like that to the 7 10. So keep that in mind. Westbound. Little
extra eastbound. You got it made. Let's take a look. Some traffic hotspots. If
you've been injured in an accident, Jacobian Myers will fight for the
justice you deserve. And if we don't win, you won't pay a penny. We have
earned the trust of tens of thousands of clients. Jacobian Myers. Because
everyone deserves justice.
So let's remind you one more time. Belgium beat Team USA in the World Cup
last night. But you know what? American pride was still on full display, which
makes it more difficult,
which means the wall could jump.
Malik Tillman scores on the free kick for the US to tie the game at one. We
didn't even get a chance to celebrate because two minutes later, Belgium
scores. The dagger was when Matt freeze misplays the ball out of the goal and
gives up an easy one. Belgium goes on to win 4 to 1 for more on that and
reaction. Ashley Dvorkin, you were there inside Seattle Stadium, which is
like the loudest place on earth. And and you know what? To Bob's point, those
fans were loud and they were supportive beginning to end. Yeah,
they really were. Yes. Hi, Jen and Bob. They were. And I even when there were
some low points that you could hear them start the cheers. Let's let's give
some support to our team. Let's get this back. But it was in the end a
disappointing loss. But this team has had such a great run throughout the
whole tournament. So we are celebrating that and also the new, very passionate
fan base that they now have.
And just like that, Belgium sent the U. S. Men's team home in the round of 16
of the World Cup, winning 4 to 1. Belgium now advances to the quarter
finals. More than 66,000 fans packed Seattle Stadium in hopes of witnessing
a piece of history in the making. Belgium broke my gosh darn heart. I'm
devastated right now. But honestly, Belgium played so well. The U. S. Men
posting on social media quote, You believed you filled stadiums. You
brought the game into homes and communities across the country. Most of
all, you showed everyone what this crest means. Thank you. It's been a
long journey for the U. S. Men stepping back on the pitch Monday night with
Flo Baligan, who found out he could play one day before the match. The
team's still proud of how far they have come. I think we need to feel proud.
It's been such an incredible journey. I never wanted to end. Next up for
Belgium is Spain. Spain knocked Cristiano Ronaldo out of his final World
Cup Monday when they beat Portugal one nil. I was listening to fans right
after the match here in Seattle, even just talking to each other. And of
course, they were sad about the loss. But then right away, I heard them
saying, but it was an awesome time just to be there. It was very exciting,
and they're still just enjoying this World Cup, Bob Jen. So this has been,
you know, super fun for you personally, because you had the opportunity to
follow this team all along the way and follow them to all their games. So
what's next for you? Sleep?
Well, the final covering that final. I mean, we're gonna keep an eye on this
World Cup and where it goes. And then we have the final July 19th. I met I
was gonna say MetLife Stadium, but New York, New Jersey Stadium as we were
calling it in the World Cup. So we'll be reporting from there. And, you know,
back to my entertainment movie talking, right? So But I love this now. I am so
into this now. Yeah, I feel like I found a new passion here for sure. It
created new fans and new interest. That's what we can take away because we
really can't take anything else. Me included.
Not until 2030. That's right. Yeah. Or, as I said, the women's women's playing
in 2027. So that's exciting, too. So let's go U. S. A. Yes, I'll keep my
jersey always for sure. Thank you, Ashley. Yeah, they call it the New York,
New Jersey Stadium, even though people in New Jersey remind everyone that this
is not New York. It's like Secaucus, right? So it is across the river, but
it is in the same general area. That's gonna be a one heck of a halftime show
to BTS. Oh, that's right. That's right. Shakira Shakira. Hearing Shakira song
before every match. So that's for sure. Speaking of, we have another game
that's coming up on Friday here at Los Angeles Stadium. Here's a view from our
camera, which you guys will be there on Friday, and it will be Spain versus
Belgium. That's coming up noon on Friday, and it's gonna be hot one, by
the way. Heads up on that. Good daily weather is brought to you by my home
sold as we take a look at the nation. Maybe you are traveling today. Would you
have some showers in the upper or northern plains into North Dakota? 70
degrees in Bismarck, one of the cooler spots. Pretty warm elsewhere. 91 in
Omaha, 75 in New York City, with some showers still lingering. But that system
is pushing off to the east 92 in Atlanta to that 97 in Dallas. Look at
Phoenix 113 all because of this big dome of high pressure now dominating
our weather across the southwest. This is gonna produce a lot of sunshine and
very hot temperatures, especially the farther inland you go and the farther
away from the coast you will be. We do have some heat alerts in place. All the
area shaded in the orange where we've got the heat advisory and then extreme
heat warnings for the Coachella Valley. The lower deserts. Those temperatures
getting up near 115 216 degrees. That is hot. So you might want to go to the
beach temperatures on the sand. Much more comfortable in the every sixties
to mid seventies. Those surf highs up a little bit today. 3 to 5 ft. Ventura
County and L. A county beaches and then 2 to 4 plus Orange County and San
Diego. Here's our 7 to 85 for downtown L. A. Today, warming up to 87 on
Thursday. We've got a chance for some showers as we get to Sunday, Monday,
with a little more humidity valleys. Inland Empire 98 to 102 tomorrow. Low
nineties as we get to the weekend and next week. But with the added humidity
value, it's gonna feel probably a lot warmer. 112 in Palm Springs. Let's do
some TV shot us. Do we have time? Can we do that? We have this. We've got a
happy 10th birthday to Noah Bullock from Paramount. Your parents love you
so much and a happy 17 to Lennox. Okay, we got
