Cracker Lake Trail in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park
The cracker lake trail is one of the best hikes in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park, Montana. Cracker Lake is fed by Siyeh Glacier and sits in a cirque of peaks that tower 4,000 feet above the lake. The lake itself sits just below 6,000 feet in elevation and right beneath Mount Siyeh which towers up to over 10,000 feet. The lake has a tremendous amount of glacial flour (it is fed by Siyeh Glacier which is clearly visible form the lake) making it appear milky white or turquois blue depending on the conditions and density of the glacier flour in the water.
This hike is about 13 miles (1,600 ft. elevation gain) out and back if you go to the foot of the lake and about 14 (2,000 ft.) in you walk to the head. The trailhead is accessed from the Many Glacier Lodge parking lot.
