A quiet day in the Eastern Sierra.

This hike takes you to Big Pine Lake 2, one of the most iconic alpine lakes in California, with stunning views of Temple Crag.

I arrived the night before, started hiking at sunrise, and spent the morning walking through pine forests, creeks, granite cliffs, and crystal clear alpine lakes. By the afternoon, the weather changed quickly, bringing wind and even a brief hailstorm, a reminder of how fast conditions can change in the Sierra.
