The Tiniest Pelican Chick's Race Against Time | Surviva

Types of birds

From a fragile chalk-white egg hidden in a coastal mangrove nest, a Brown Pelican chick begins a brutal 150-day journey toward survival. For nearly 30 days, its parents take turns incubating the eggs under harsh sun, salty wind, and sudden coastal storms. But hatching is only the beginning. The chicks emerge helpless, hungry, and exposed—surrounded by gulls, crows, raccoons, violent weather, and the constant danger of starvation. Every day, the parents must fly across the ocean, dive headfirst into the waves, and return with fish before their chicks grow weak. But when food becomes scarce, the smallest chick may not get enough to survive.
