I Tried ‘Rich‑Thrift’ Shopping in Nashville — Is It More Expensive?

So a lot of you all frequently ask me where in the world am I located and the answer to that is that I am in Middle Tennessee. Now, I don't share my exact town and it is not because I am trying to gatekeep my amazing thrift stores. It is strictly because I am a mama first and I am doing everything that I can to protect my family and it's kind of hard to do that when you are on the internet. So that is about as good as I can do. However, we have had to do a little bit of traveling today. We had some errands to run in Nashville. So we're in Nashville right now. We just got here to the Goodwill. They've got a Goodwill and then right next door to it they have an outlet which is like the Ben's. My husband and kids went into the Ben's store. I'm going to go into the regular Goodwill because I'm curious what their pricing looks like over there. A lot of you guys complain that your Goodwill is really expensive and so I'm wondering how it compares to my town. So let's get in there and have some fun and see if we can find some goodies today. Starting off in the blouse section and the first thing that caught my eye was this lavender floral top with the cutest collar. I was in the women's section but when I looked at the tag I noticed that it was a 13-14 so I'm pretty sure that this was for young teens. I also really liked this white top. I think the only thing that was throwing me off was the fact that you could see the cami underneath. I don't know. I'm weird sometimes about see-through things. They've got to be just right. But then I spotted this coral striped wrap blouse and I just, I'm loving coral right now. I don't know what it is. So out of all of these I think that I'm going to cart this one and try it on. This pure silk Talbot's blouse was such a dream but unfortunately it had a small hole in it and a couple little spots on the side so I had to leave it behind. This is an HD in Paris top. I believe that this is an Anthropologie brand. I really love the texture and print of this but I personally feel like the peplum here is just too outdated so I'm going to pass on this one too. This blue gingham top was giving me some sweet summer picnic feelings but unfortunately the entire back was just cut out and all there was was a bow and it just didn't meet my personal maturity and modesty standards now. This is a chocolate brown pullover from Old Navy. My friend has this exact one and I am obsessed with the feel of these. Maybe I can track down the pants when I get to that section. Speaking of pants, these are sitting here on the end cap and they look like everything I have been looking for. I've been wanting a wider leg that's not too trendy or baggy and these look like they're going to fit the bill. They're also $8.99 but they are brand new with $70 tags. This is a score. I love these white pants from Ann Taylor. Feels like they are mostly cotton and maybe have a little bit of linen mixed in. I'm definitely going to cart these and at least try them on. I am in love with this orange windowpane plaid and it's a Pendleton. Just it's amazing. But what worried me is that it had a dry clean tag on it and this stain was still there. So that's a red flag for me. I'm going to keep on moving. I personally feel like the camera is not doing this gorgeous skirt justice. The texture and the silver stripe along with the super cool arched leather tassel belt. It's amazing and it is so unique and I checked the tags and it's a Marks & Spencer which is exciting because I have never found this brand back home and every time I look on their website I love their style. I thought this vintage black skirt with buttons and tan florals was pretty but I can't say the feel of the material was really impressing me. This dress is really cute. I'm a softie for a flowy all white summer dress so I'm going to entertain this one even though I don't know if it's my style. This cobalt blue dress is incredible. I love the shape of this. I love a good tie waist. It doesn't need a belt or anything and I am so sad to turn it around and see these massive snags on the back side of it. I'm going to have to leave this one behind. So this dress is a linen blend and it's like a collared halter and I guess it's like a knitty. I haven't found anything that I like in a leopard or cheetah print in a really long time. Even though I do love it, I think it's a really great neutral. It's large but it looks like it fits really small so I'm going to try this on. You guys, I cannot believe what I have just found. I have never, never found a Reformation dress out in the wild. What a treat. This is absolutely beautiful. I just looked it up and it retails for $278 and I will happily pay $7.99 for this. How darling is this baby pink satin nightie, brand new with tags too. Obviously I'm not going to try this on on camera but I am going to take it in and try it on and I might just bring this home with me. This satin midnight navy is intriguing to me. I do like the cut. Is it too shiny though? I don't know. Let me cart this and I'll think about it. Another new with tags item. So many new with tag items this trip. This is a Francesca's Top. It feels very light and fun and summery. I really love the eyelet paired with the soft yellow and it is 100% cotton so that's a win for me. I love these Athleta pants. They are actually selling used between $50 and $70 online. The only thing that was holding me back and throwing me off were the zippers on the pockets. I don't know what it was but something about it just wasn't my style. I have several pairs of linen pants in sort of this shade that I wish were just a little bit longer so I'm going to try these on and see if they are a better length than what I have back home. I'm going to entertain these even though I don't think I'm going to love how low rise they are. But you know what? You really just never know until you try something on and I can't tell you guys how many times I have gotten out of my comfort zone and ended up loving it. Okay, so my cart is very full and I'm about to have some hungry babies on my hands so I'm going to head into the fitting room now. So the first thing I'm trying on is this striped wrap top and these white pants together. Neither are currently hard yeses but I do like them both. So I'm going to put these into the maybe pile and I'll get some clarity once I try some more stuff on. These are the low rise Hollister jeans. I hate them with these sandals but overall I don't mind them. However, I have high hopes for that high rise Zara pair. Oh yes, these are so much better. I know they don't look like anything special with these sandals again but I have plans for these and they're going to look so elegant. This Francesca top is really cute. I love the color like the light yellow and the eyelet but the midsection is just awful. It's so tight, so tight and it's meant to be that way and I don't like it. In love with this skirt. I was a little bit concerned about the sizing but I'm kind of thrilled about how it's a little bit big on me and it hits mid waist instead of high. This is going to make a really fun casual end of summer outfit but I also think it can be easily dressed up with silver shoes and silver jewelry. There is nothing that I don't love about this. I'm definitely thinking that a belt is going to make this one feel so complete and this is for sure coming home with me. Now that I'm in the fitting room, I'm realizing these have more of a green tint to them which I actually like a lot. However, they aren't any longer than the ones that I have back home so I'm going to pass on these. I had on a tennis dress with built-in padding so I didn't have proper undergarments on if you know what I mean so that's throwing the top off of this a little bit but I am in love with this dress. All right guys, without further ado, let's get into the styling portion of today's video. I'm kicking us off today with these incredible wide leg jeans. Like I mentioned, I've been looking for something like this for a long time and I could never get the right fit. I know a lot of young girls, teenagers wear this style with sneakers which is cute but it's really not my thing and I think a looser cut like this looks so amazing with a button front and heels like I'm showing you here. I do think that this style can still look elevated while making it casual though. So to do that, I've popped on this white embroidered peasant top that I got thrifting a few weeks ago and some simple white sandals and I just have a feeling that I'm going to be reaching for more boho style tops now that I have these jeans. Next up is this super fun silver vertical striped midi from Marks and Spencer. A style like this usually runs around $70 on their website so this felt like such a steal. I love all the texture of this. There's even like this corduroy feel on the black stripes and I really love that built in and very unique arch tassel leather belt in the front. I just have this feeling that I'm going to be reaching for this during that fall transition period. You know when it's still hot outside but we're also kind of craving those richer darker colors and I can't think of a better outfit than this one to announce this week's giveaway which is this beautiful black leather tote. I love the minimalist lines of this with the soft structured body that still moves with you creating that effortless expensive without trying kind of vibe. It also has the longer strap in the original wrap so I have a feeling this bag was gently used or maybe never used at all. This reformation dress is truly such a dream and I still can't believe I paid $7.99 for this $287 dress that is in perfect condition. My husband's brother is actually getting married this summer and I think that this is going to be the perfect wedding guest dress. The blue and the golden flowers and the mermaid style bottom is just so romantic. Next up are these casual loose fit white pants from Ann Taylor that I got. I have a pair of wider cotton linen ones from Old Navy that are maybe just a little bit too big and long for me and I wear them a lot but I'm really just loving how much more tailored and polished these are and I think that I might just go ahead and sell the other ones and replace them with these. I cannot tell you guys how tickled I am about this leopard print linen blend button front dress that I got. I think it's beautiful standing alone but you guys know me, I just love adding belt at the waistline to give it a little bit more style. So I'm popping a light brown over the waist and now it just feels so much more me. The high neck full coverage halter with the collar is such a classic and I love how this is one of those dresses that can be paired with flip flops to make it more casual for a lunch outing but it can also be dressed up with heels for a date night like you see me wearing here. So I had no luck finding the matching pants to this chocolate brown lounge top. Most of the time people buy these in sets so I was hopeful but these run around $40 new so I grabbed it anyway and I'm so glad that I did because I found the matching shorts on sale at Old Navy for $14 and these types of sets I love wearing all year long. Well guys, what did you think? Here is my take on Nashville. First of all, pricing was pretty much the same when it came to the Goodwill although it was much harder to find quality items in a bigger city like this. It took a lot more patience and I feel like it took me twice as long but what I did walk away with seemed to be more expensive retail and I definitely found brands that I have never come across here in my little town. So if you live in a bigger city and you're having trouble competing with other thrifters you will likely have to be more patient and go more often in order to find great things. If you have some smaller surrounding towns that you can go to I think that you'll have a lot more volume luck and I just hope that that perspective helps. Let me know which look was your favorite.
