Black Bottom Dance Routine MyCharleston
The Black Bottom was one of the major dance crazes of the 1920s, following on from the Charleston. Named after the Black Bottom area of Detroit, the dance has its roots in African American traditions and began as a simple shuffle-based movement.
Over time, the Black Bottom evolved, with many interpretations developing under the same name. For this routine, we explored archival footage and brought together a range of traditional Black Bottom steps to create a complete choreographed piece.
This performance was danced by our Thursday daytime class in Brighton 💃✨
