Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video criticizes Donald Trump's \"Great American State Fair,\" describing it as a disastrous, taxpayer-funded event plagued by poor planning and extreme heat. The narrator argues that the fair serves as a vanity project to stroke the president's ego rather than a genuine celebration of America's 250th birthday, highlighting the contrast between official rhetoric and the grim reality.
Donald Trump's Great American State Fair just can't catch a break.
Unless you're one of the organizers.
Those people made millions.
This is just another day.
While America's 250th birthday is merely hours away, Donald Trump's Great American
State Fair woes continue to plague him, which is surprising considering he hires the best
people.
Now in order to put on this celebration, Trump is using $68 million of taxpayer money.
At least some of that money is being paid to a company called Events Strategies Incorporated.
It's run by a group of Trump allies, and it's the same company responsible for organizing
Trump's Ellipse rally on January 6th.
Seems appropriate.
When you're hiring a company to put on the most American thing, it's best to find the
folks who put on the least American thing.
I mean, holy ----.
What's next?
Hiring ICE to host a Cinco de Mayo party?
Yes, Events Strategies Incorporated, which in no way sounds like the most intentionally
vague and nefarious company ever, were handed $68 million of our money.
And as for what they were hired for?
In a statement to the New York Times earlier this year, the firm said its duties included
quote, production planning, logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site execution.
Well, as for that on-site execution, I'd say they're putting in one hell of an effort.
Don't worry, if that happens during tomorrow's event, at least we know there will be a doctor
in attendance.
Yes, Donald, I will drain the swamp Trump, continued his tradition of handing out tens
of millions of dollars in no-bid contracts to his buddies to put on this great American
state fair, but thankfully, our nation still has hard-nosed journalists willing to expose
the truth of what's really going on.
At times, get this spread, it could feel like 115 degrees, but let me tell you something,
that does not stop our true patriots, you can see them up here, celebrating on the National
Mall, alright?
Yes, how right you are.
My God, I've never seen such a big crowd.
They sure are packed in like sardines.
I can't see so good.
Are you at Coachella?
I know I've always known Fox News to be full of empty rhetoric, but I didn't realize they
could accomplish the literal version.
This National Mall fair is an unmitigated failure, or fair-ier, we're workshopping.
There is one ride, no shade, and that majestic arch is oozing sealant foam just to keep it
from crumbling.
Look, if I wanted to see some gross material bursting from the seams, I'd go watch Donald
Trump play tennis.
But how are we even here?
I mean, didn't we hire the best company?
The reason the administration gave for needing this project to be handled by event strategies
is because it had been working on a condensed timeline, which, now that I hear it, does
make sense.
I mean, this is what happens when you don't get a head start on things and you're crunched
for time.
In 2016, Congress created America 250, a bipartisan commission that began working on what was
supposed to be an apolitical celebration.
Once Trump took office in January 2025, he took over the programming.
We have created a new public-private partnership.
It's called Freedom 250.
I mean, can you even imagine what a shitshow this fair would have looked like if it was
still in the hands of those inexperienced project managers at America 250?
Why, I bet they'd have to cancel the whole goddamn thing.
And by the way, we're tracking a little bit of breaking news out of Washington right now
at the Great American State Fair.
They are closing it for the time being.
But obviously these temperatures, which we've been talking about all week, are dangerous
and they wanted to make sure people could seek shelter because, as you know on the mall,
you were just here Sandra, there is nowhere to hide from the sun unless you're in those
state pavilions and those are very cramped quarters indeed.
I'm going to be honest here.
I have zero expertise in organizing a strategy for this type of event.
But you know who should be able to have that expertise?
Event strategies.
At least Greenwater Services delivered on their name.
Temperatures are in the triple digits.
There is practically zero shade for attendees and numerous booths have zero air conditioning.
But what is the top concern for the Trump administration?
The one thing that is really kind of creating some issues and concerns in the White House
is this upcoming speech on July 4th for the president.
If you remember, about a week ago, he gave another speech on the mall.
The crowd was not huge.
And when the president saw an aerial photo of it, sources told CNN that he became infuriated,
that he was very upset about the size of the crowd.
Oh, come on, dude.
It's not like the size of the crowd matters.
It's the motion of the commotion that you cause because hundreds of people are getting
heatstroke.
But if I know one thing about this president, I'm sure he didn't dwell on the past and simply
looked on to the future.
We're told that the aerial image of the crowds from his rally last week enraged him so much
that officials ended up deleting them.
If only there was a delete button for everything else Trump hated looking at.
Everyone could have foreseen that a shadeless, air-conditioning-less event being attended
by Trump's biggest supporters, old people, would be problematic.
And yet those issues continue to mystify some.
One White House official told CNN, quote, I do not understand why we are doing this
so late.
I'm not really sure who thought that this was a good idea.
Yes, who could it have been?
Which lone member of the D.C. elite lurks in the shadows, forcing people to endure unimaginable
hardship all so that Donald Trump can have his ego stroked?
Gosh, it's one of life's great mysteries.
Just like how we'll never know if Kash Patel has ever had a sip of alcohol.
The events taking place on our National Mall are not a celebration of our freedoms or democracy,
but merely an exercise in stroking Trump's ego.
Because with all the warnings of how dangerous things could ever be on the next few days
in D.C., the White House is marching on like this is all normal.
There are grave concerns about health and safety on Saturday.
It would not shock people if somehow this thing gets reimagined, reorchestrated, or
just canceled.
Actually, I think Donald Trump putting the safety of Americans above his own self-interest
would shock people.
The not-shocking part will be if this president forces fare-goers to endure life-threatening
temperatures all so that he can repeat a phrase that finally feels applicable.
We are the hottest country anywhere in the world.
Our country is the hottest in the world right now.
Now we're the hottest country anywhere in the world.
Yep, hottest country.
That's why so many people are fainting from all of our success.
The reality is, the Great American State Fair is not emblematic of our country, but it is
emblematic of his.
Donald Trump's version of America is one where everybody else suffers while he and
his friends prosper.
It is shoddy work followed by continuous gaslighting.
This fair is no different from his tariffs, his big beautiful bill, and his Iran war,
all disastrous actions taken by this White House which are then deemed to be the greatest
our nation has ever seen.
And where in all of this is the check on this man's presidency?
Where is that other branch of government tasked with making sure the executive branch doesn't
abuse its power?
There is a bill kicking around in the House of Representatives introduced by some of the
president's pals over there to put his face on Mount Rushmore.
What a shock.
A group of Republicans looking to give Trump head.
For the sake of all Americans attending tomorrow's July 4th celebration, I honestly hope everybody
is safe and things go off without a hitch.
But if I had to guess how things will actually go?
Exactly.
Before you go, I'm very excited to announce that I've written a new book titled The Day
After How to Wield Power in a Post-Trump World.
The book explores what is, in my opinion, the single most important theme that we're
dealing with in politics today and moving forward—power.
Specifically, how Republicans abuse it and how Democrats refuse to wield it.
This book explains how we got here and, more importantly, how we should finally wield power
if we're fortunate enough to get it back.
It is the blueprint for progressives who want to do far more than just restore the status
quo.
