"How did paintings, engravings and everyday objects help shape America's fight for independence?
A new exhibition at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art explores how art influenced public opinion during the American Revolution and helped create many of the images Americans still associate with the nation's founding today.
The exhibit, ""Revolution!"", features rare Revolutionary War artifacts, Paul Revere engravings, portraits of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, and the iconic painting Washington Crossing the Delaware. Museum curators explain how artists documented history, spread political ideas and, in some cases, created powerful propaganda that influenced public opinion during the fight for independence.
The exhibition is open through Labor Day and is also available to explore online through The Metropolitan Museum of Art."
