A Forgotten Dutch Portrait Begins to Reveal Its Secret | Part 1

In this first stage of the restoration, I begin revealing the delicate hand of a forgotten 17th-century portrait. Beneath centuries of dust, aged varnish and accumulated grime, subtle brushstrokes slowly emerge once again. Every careful movement uncovers details that have remained hidden for generations, bringing us a little closer to the artist's original intention. But this painting is more than pigment on canvas. It is the portrait of a young woman whose identity has long been forgotten. We may never know her name, her story, or the life she lived. Yet, more than three hundred years later, her quiet gaze still invites us to wonder who she was. This video follows the careful cleaning and varnish removal of her hand—the beginning of a much larger conservation journey.
