Video Summary
AI GeneratedA goat named Raven gave birth prematurely to two kids, one of whom did not survive. The surviving doeling faced significant health challenges, including an inability to hold up her head and a lack of milk from Raven. Through tube feeding, colostrum from another goat, and intensive care, the kid is now stabilizing. The video also mentions other goats going into labor and the launch of a Luna plushie.
So I came out here to feed some of the babies and I noticed I heard Raven
screaming and I went over to her and she's in labor
pushing out a baby. She's not even due till
April 10th. But I'm giving her molasses water right now
but yeah she has like no udder it's like almost flat.
Like something is wrong because remember when we first bred her
and she kind of didn't get bred or like miscarried
something just has not. I've never had premature babies before but
yeah I don't even know if that one's gonna make it because it's so
tiny. Are you doing okay?
Yeah it's okay. Well yeah so we had an eventful beginning to our second
round of kidding. I don't know what happened you know
usually when a goat has premature babies really early on we
know that that can be due to a few different diseases but
when it happens just two weeks, 10 days before
kidding there isn't much evidence to show
what actually causes it. Nobody really knows. You know they say if they have
them earlier than two weeks then they can't
survive. These seem to be about 10 days early.
They don't have their teeth yet they just have gums.
Usually when a baby goat is born they have the little teeth start to pop out a
little bit but she doesn't and the little
buckling didn't either. So yeah so Raven did have two. This is
the little doling and then the buckling didn't survive.
So yeah she made it. We had to tube feed her a little bit
and then she finally took the bottle and now it's been about three days later
and it looks like she's gonna make it. Well she's just barely
standing up but her head she's having trouble
getting her head straight. Are you okay? I think you might be smaller
than Newt.
Oh my gosh it's funny because she is a um you know so she has like all
that roni and all that salt and pepper but it looks like her legs she just
having those four black legs. Oh my goodness girl.
How come you were early? So I can't believe that both
of the rounds of kittens started with one we had to bring in the house and
take care of. She still can't lift her head. The only
way she'll eat is if we lay down like recline a
little bit back. For some reason she just can't hold her
head up and Raven has hardly any milk. She didn't
get an udder pop. I wasn't even paying close attention to her so
I'm sure her ligaments loosened and thinned out but I wasn't checking
because I was focused on Dolly and Reba this whole time. So
it's been quite an interesting couple of days but I think we've got her to the
safe zone so she's doing better. So this isn't going to be a very long
video because we're a little overwhelmed because last night
Dolly and Reba both went into labor at the same time so
I have a video coming up tomorrow of those kittens
that happened at the exact same time right after this happened and it was
nuts but all all is well it's just it's been a lot. So think of a name for
this little one here and she's cute cute little black doling
just adorable. With Raven, Raven's name is
you know a bird so I thought it'd be cute to think of some cute little bird
name but I don't think Raven's gonna ever be
able to take it back because we've been milking Raven and I I don't
think she has very much in there. We actually had to take
colostrum from Reba, good thing she delivered the same time,
and give it to this little baby right here so that she could have some
colostrum because Reba had plenty but Raven just
I don't know I don't I don't know what happened but she just
had her babies early and has not developed an udder so I'm not sure if
her milk is going to come in at all. Never had this happen before. Anyway
think of a cute name and uh there will be another video
tomorrow of Reba and Dolly it's really cute um
yeah they decided to go into labor at the exact same time so
but they did great so we'll have more babies in the next video.
As if Kevin needed another project. This is like Newt all over again.
She's done better she's she's getting there but
she's definitely she's a really good eater
even better than Newt but she's a really good pooper
and that's the problem she poops so much. The only problem is she can't
quite stand up or put her head up yet so there's no way that she could nurse
so it's like she has the strong sucking yeah a strong pooping
and I don't think it digests at all she just drinks it and then poops it right
out. Yeah let's see oh but you're so cute
oh a little bit shaky there oh my goodness. Just drinks it and poops
it right out really fast. There you go just a little
bit of standing got it. After months of work Lydia and I are
finally excited to launch our own Luna plushie so this is a cute
little toy that we made because we just wanted to commemorate
Luna for being with us for so long and we're so excited to offer this plushie
it's got her ears her goatee her little lopsided udder
so if you want to order your own Luna plushie click on the link in the
description it's only going to be available until April 14th
so hurry up and get yours ordered today
