Bollan Bane for Tynwald Day
A curious Manx tradition is to wear bollan bane on Tynwald Day.
All of the officials & dignitaries, from the Bishop to the Lieutenant Governor, will be wearing it in St John's, just like the public.
But less well-known is the story of how it is gathered and prepared for the Manx National Day each year...
This film was made in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure & the Office of the Clerk of Tynwald, with permission of the landowners on whose private land the footage was captured, and with thanks to John Sayle & Gary O'Brien.
