Venezuela death toll tops 1,400 as desperate search for survivors continues
Jun 29, 2026
The number of those known to have died in Venezuela's two earthquakes has risen to more than 1,400, and tens of thousands are still missing.
People have been taking the search for loved ones into their own hands, blaming the government for a lack of resources.
More help is arriving with additional foreign search and rescue crews hitting the ground. The UN estimates that more than 6-million people could be affected, 2-million in Caracas alone.
