You can draw this in Procreate. During this super easy to follow Procreate drawing tutorial,
I'm going to guide you through all of the steps to create this cabin in the evening in a moody
forest. You don't need any experience with drawing or with Procreate at all. I will be explaining
everything, taking you by the hand. So all you really need is the app Procreate, of course,
and your canvas set to a size of 2300 by 3000 and I have left a link to the color palette
down in the description. It's totally free. So then if you're ready, let's get started.
We are going to start out by creating a gradient for our sky and the brush I'd like to use for
that is the soft brush in the airbrushing section. Just make sure that you are in the classic
library. If you need to switch your library, you can just hit that little arrow downward and go
back to libraries to select the classic library. Now for the color, let's start with this one
first color in the first row and let's drag it onto our screen and then we are going to
create our gradient with these colors. So first we'll go to the second color
and let's turn up the opacity and let's set that to over like 90 percent and let's set the size at
20. You can zoom out a little bit and now let's make a stroke like this and then we'll go to the
next color, the third one, put that a little bit lower and then onto the fourth one like this
and then finally the fifth. Let's add that here at the bottom. So like the transition starts
about the center of the canvas and now we can make this transition more smooth by going to
the magic wand here and going to gaussian blur and then slide to the right with your pen on your
screen. Let's go for like 25 percent and then you can tap the magic wand again. Then we'll make a
new layer on top of our gradient. Let's tap the plus and then for our brush we will go to the
inking brushes and use the studio pen and for our color we'll pick this one first color in the third
row. Now the opacity of this brush is at 100 percent and size is at 10 and I will make a line from left
to right a little bit wobbly all the way to the right and I will drag in the color like this.
Now let's make another layer on top. Let's tap the plus and then we'll go to the second color
in the third row and then we'll make another really shape like this up here and then drag
in the color and then let's make another one by going to the layer menu, tapping the plus
and then we'll make another hill shape on this side. So let's start about here and go down like
this and I will drag in the color again. In the next step we are going to create the base for our
cabin. So let's make a new layer. Let's tap the plus and then for our color let's pick this one.
That's the fifth color in the second row and we are going to make use of the selection tool.
So let's go to the selection tool. That's the s shape ribbon set into a rectangle with color
fill turned on. It's turned on if it's blue and this tool is great for making squares and
rectangles that have these really nice crisp corners. So let's make a rectangle like this
and then let's get out of here by tapping the s shape ribbon again and I will go to the move
and transform tool. That's the arrow up here. Set it to distort and now we are going to put this
in perspective. You might have to turn off magnetics here and snap it and we are going to
create a shape like this. So it's a little bit angled here at the top straight at the bottom.
So we have like a trapezius shape. I guess it's not really like a trapezius but a parallelogram
but this is just like a very simple perspective. We're not using a grid here we're just
eyeballing it a bit. So when you have this you can tap the arrow again to get out of here and now
let's make another rectangle. Let's go to this layer then tap the plus and for the color let's
go a little bit lighter. Now for the fourth color then go to the selection tool and make another
rectangle and then we'll go to the move and transform tool again and make it align here
with the top. Move this a little bit to the left so we get a nice
um nice triangle. Let's stretch this a bit. I want to align with that other side.
Now we can move this down so it's nicely behind that other part of the roof. Now let's get out
here. You can see it's not exactly aligned so we can go back and just tap a little bit on the left
side a little bit more just tap to align it there at the top. All right now we'll duplicate this.
We'll slide to the left tap duplicate. Now let's make that bottom one let's make that darker. Let's
give it this color. Now that's the sixth color. Drag it on there. You can't really see it but
it's darker now. I'll go to this one go to the move and transform tool and move it a little bit
to the left not the left the right. So now we're getting a little edge there. Now let's tap the
arrow. Now you do see a little edge there at the top. We can just go to the selection tool
set it to freehand with color still turned off. We can just select that top part like this and
then you can swipe with three fingers to get rid of that. Now let's also add an edge to the other
part to this one. Let's slide to the left to duplicate it then go to the bottom one. Let's
add that darker color that sixth color and then go to the move and transform tool and move it a
little bit to the left. And now we need to get rid of a little part again. You could use the selection
tool or just the eraser to get rid of that. All right now we are going to duplicate this layer.
So let's slide to the left tap duplicate and let's for now let's give it a lighter color
just so we can properly see it. Go for the first color drag it on there then go to the
move and transform tool again and we're going to move it quite a bit. This will be the front
of the cabin and then let's go to the selection tool and I want to add a little bit to the bottom.
So let's go to rectangle to color fill and let's try and align it over here and go all the way to
here and then let's get the eraser to get rid of these parts. I also see something sticking out
here. I think that's this one be tidy and I can see I have a small little gap on this one.
You just pick that color and get rid of that line. So now we have a really a basic house already. I
do want it to be like behind the hills. So a way to do that is by selecting all these layers by
sliding to the right and then we can just drag them to the bottom so that it's behind that hill.
All right now let's go to this front layer again. Let's make that darker. Let's give it this color
the sixth one and then let's add some windows there. So let's duplicate this layer again
and then let's fill it with this color. That's the third color in the third row and now let's
go to the move and transform tool. Move it to the right like this and then let's go to the
selection tool. Now turn off color fill and let's remove a part here. Let's go here and then let's
use freehand to also get rid of this part. Then we can slide with three fingers and then let's
remove some more. Let's go back to the selection tool set it to a rectangle and then we'll make
a rectangular shape like this and then we'll make another one over here
like this and then again you can swipe with three fingers if that is difficult for you. You can also
just go to the layer tap it and use clear. I do want this shape to be a bit more tidy.
Let's go to the selection tool and select this area like this and we can go to this layer again
tap it and use clear. See a little part there but it should be fine. Then for some more windows
let's go to the selection tool again set it to color fill and then let's make a rectangular shape
here like this and then we can use remove here and then we can remove the center part here
and remove a little bit here and over here and then you can tap the selection tool again to get
out of there. So now we have some pretty basic windows. Now let's also put some windows on this
roof here so we need to be on top of this layer and we'll tap the plus then we'll go to the
selection tool again a rectangular shape like this then go to remove again and remove a part
in the center so we get two equally sized windows and then we can get out of this selection menu
then go to the move and transform tool maybe they need to be a little bit smaller you need to set
a uniform for that make it a bit smaller move it to about here then go to distort
and drag this handle and then make it follow that same angle as the roof down over here
something like this and then tap the arrow again and let's also add a little chimney to the roof
let's tap the plus and then let's pick this color again sixth color in the second row
go to the selection tool and then let's start about here to about here
and then another rectangular shape at the top like this and you can also use remove
set it to freehand to go in there and remove a diagonal part like this
and then tap the magic wand not the magic wand the s-shaped ribbon again so now we have a basic
cabin and now we are going to add the environment and later we are going to add lighting effects
to the house we are going to create some trees let's start in the foreground but to keep things
organized what we can do is we can select these layers of the cabin like this and then group them
we can close that group that keeps things a bit more organized now let's go to this layer
tap the plus and then let's pick the studio pen and for the color let's use this one
that sixth color in the second row and we are going to draw tall trees let's start about here
make a line going up you can hold your pen in place to make it switch to a quick line
and then another line like this and make sure that the shape is closed at the bottom
so you can drag in the color and then we'll make another one over here
nicely framing our house and little cabin and it's a little bit more narrow at the top
close that shape at the bottom drag in the color let's make a brush a little bit bigger
20 percent and now we can create some shapes here at the top for
these pine trees and you can drag in the color like this and over here
you can make them a little bit droopy falling down and then over here you can make
some of these bare branches also going down a little bit just make sure that closer to
the tree trunk these branches are a little bit thicker and they are thinner as you
have less pressure there and on the other side let's also make some of these branches
just some shapes like this
and over here and then we can make some these bare branches again
then we'll move towards the background let's make a layer underneath this one so we go here
tab the plus and we'll pick a color that is slightly lighter the fifth color in the second row
now let's make another tree let's make a line like this so we can start here at the top and small
and then you can start adding bigger bigger branches make it wider and wider as you move
down it's like a little curve you know with these extra lines underneath one more
now let's make the tree trunk a little bit wider when you're at the bottom and you could
use the eraser to make it more tidy and of course you can use the brush to add
some of these bare branches here creating really nice silhouettes then another one over here let's
make a line first and start here at the top very small and then again these like curves
downward with some bumps first you have the base curve and then you can add these extras
now let's make that trunk a little bit broader and then again some extra bare branches
already looking nice now let's go to the lighter color the fourth one and let's add
another tree over here first we make that line and start at the top
this one is a bit less visible because of that other tree
tree trunk thicker and now let's add some of those bare branches and then let's make one
on this side as well you're going to nicely fill the background up with all these trees
this one is also less visible tree trunk bare branches and like I said you can use the eraser
to tidy up the little parts you can barely see them because it's quite dark and then let's also
add a small little hill there let's make a layer on top and then let's pick this color second color
in the third row and let's create a little hill over here drag in the color and then over here as
well and drag in the color I hope you're having fun so far creating your own little cabin I'm
sure you'll be super happy with your end result and if you want to follow even more procreate
tutorials then I think you might like my patreon page because I have more than 250
procreate drawing tutorials there and they will really help you to get to that next level but they
can also keep you entertained for years and of course we have a super supporting fun group of
flow creators there so I would love to welcome you I will just leave a link for you down in
the description in case you want to check that out but now let's continue now we are going to
continue creating trees for our background first let's go for this color again fourth color but
let's make a layer um underneath that hill layer here so we'll tap this group then we'll tap the
plus and then let's let's go in here and first what you could do is just make some
vertical lines and the places where you want these trees around here of course we need to be behind
the house as well not sure what I was thinking let's drag it underneath these trees are behind
the cabin over here maybe a small one here so you just start with these vertical lines
and maybe there's one here as well but we won't see the line so start with the lines and then
you can go in there and we can make the brush a little bit smaller 10% since we are creating
some smaller trees in the background so you start small at the top and then you start creating these
curved lines with some parts sticking out and as you move down they get broader
so every time it's curved and then adding these extra broader and broader
making the bottom part the trunk a little bit broader as well so this way you can draw a bunch
of trees like this all right now let's move on to a layer underneath so first tap the background
layered and tap plus and then we'll move to the next color by the third one and go a little bit
lighter let's make one over here over here you can make a couple and then we can add those branches
again this is color lighter very much just using the same one oh it's a little bit lighter I was
but later we will also add some gradients here some mist separating the trees a bit more
here's one another one keep it simple and just a curve and extra thingies mostly on the underside
and at this one so first at the top it's just some wigglies and then as you move down
we can go towards those curves a bit more here there's quite some overlap
so you won't really see the branches all right then we'll make another layer underneath this
one so we'll go here tap the plus then move to the second color and again let's just
fill some gaps first make those vertical lines here you don't have to create the exact same
trees as I'm making of course so first those vertical lines and then again just go in there
and add the branches and it's nice if you have some trees that are really
overlapping each other here well we can just color that in and then we also draw the other
trees it would look something like this now we just need one more a layer of trees for our
background so let's go here tab the plus and then pick that first color and let's first just create
a shape like this and then drag in the color so that's already covered and then let's let's create
those vertical lines again to decide where our trees will be and how tall they will be
just a bunch of vertical lines over here over here this will give you a nice guide
and then yeah again we'll just repeat this we'll create those branches nicely filling up
our background and small at the top with some wigglies and then broader branches as you move
down in some cases they're pretty much covered up by the trees in the front so there's not that
much that you need to do just fill that up and then again continue doing this until it looks like
this all right now we have all our trees time for the fun part we are going to add all the
light effects the final touches first let's add a sun let's add a sun let's go here to this layer
let's tap the plus and then for our color we use this one fourth color in the third row and for our
brush we can go to the calligraphy brushes use the monoline brush let's set it to 10% of size
make sure that the opacity is at 100% and let's draw a circle here hold your pen in place and
tap one finger on the screen for a perfectly round circle you can tap circle here at the top to move
it around a bit let's place it about here and drag in the color and then we'll go to the magic wand
to bloom and we'll slide to the right to turn this on you can play around a bit with the size and the
burn let's go for something like this maybe a little bit less yeah let's go for this bloom at 41%
size at 42 and burn at 44 and then let's add some color to our trees let's tap this layer
turn on alpha lock so you won't be able to go outside of the shape and then we'll go to the
airbrushing brushes and use the soft brush and for the color let's use this one fourth color
and then let's gently go over this area very gently to add a little bit of a gradient
then let's move on to the next one tap this layer turn on alpha lock
and then move on to the next color third one and again just a little bit let's set the opacity to
70% add a little bit of that color now we'll move to this one tap the layer turn on alpha lock
go to the next color second one and here let's add a little bit a little bit to the
bottom so that we get a little bit of like mist then for the next one as well tap that layer turn
on alpha lock and go over the undersides just a little bit this already makes it look so much
better then for the light on the house let's go open this group then go to this layer let's tap
and turn on alpha lock then we'll pick this fourth color and let's go in there let's make
the brush a little bit smaller maybe six percent let's see let's add some light there but then
we'll pick our studio pen under inking and now let's go along the edge here you can hold your
pen in place and also here to get a bit of a 3d effect and here on the underside we'll do the
same here line like this and on the left side just a little extra touch and now let's move on to
these other windows tap that layer turn on alpha lock then pick the soft brush a little bit of
light and then we'll go to the where was it the inking brush i'm sorry the studio pen and then
to the top get a bit of that 3d feel then let's go to this layer and then we can tap the plus for
a new layer on top set that layer to clipping mask by the way if you're struggling with the
of layers you can always just merge the tree layers together the ones you like just don't
merge them with the sky yet but that will get you some layer space all right let's see let's pick
this third color for the brush we'll go to the soft brush again and i will make a selection we
are going to add light to this edge let's go to the selection tool set it to freehand turn color
fill off let's start here and then make a shape like this coming from that window and then here
as well doesn't have to be super accurate just roughly and then pick the brush and then let's
add this light coming from the windows and we can go a little bit lighter with the fourth color
and make the brush a bit smaller three percent add some more light there and then turn the selection
off this is already a really nice effect now let's make the windows glow a little bit um by the way
if you like this effect you can just pinch these together you could also pinch it together with the
rest of the roof now let's go to this layer duplicate it go to the bottom one turn off alpha
lock and then go to the magic wand to gaussian blur and slide to the right to make it glow a little
bit let's go for six percent now let's do the same for this layer let's duplicate it go to the bottom
one tap it turn off alpha lock then go to the magic wand into gaussian blur slide to the right
to again like six percent now for the light on the snow let's duplicate this layer and then let's
move it to well to the top here here we have that hill and let's turn off alpha lock and then let's
go to the move and transform tool flip it vertical let's move it down and then let's distort it
but if it moves in this direction something like this and then let's go to the magic wand
to gaussian blur and give this a nice blur something like this and then let's make sure
that it only shows up on that um underground so let's tap this layer turn on clipping mask
and let's also fade it a little bit let's tap this layer you can add a mask and then we can
set our mask to black by double tapping here use the soft brush make it a little bit bigger six
percent and we can go over here to fade it just a little bit and at the same time we can add
a bit more glow to the snow here and let's tap the plus for another layer and let's pick this
color third color let's make the brush a little bit bigger maybe 10 percent and go over here
to add a little bit more of a glow as well and then for the other lights let's duplicate this
layer slide to the left tap duplicate move it to here now let's go to the move and transform tool
place it here and stretch it like this and then again blur it so we'll go to the magic wand
to gaussian blur right to the right i guess i didn't turn off alpha lock let's undo this
because of course we do need to turn off alpha lock otherwise it won't blur
let's turn that off go to the magic wand gaussian blur slide to the right and then again
let's tap that layer add a mask use our soft brush and let's make it fade a little bit
we also need some light on the other hills like here at the top let's tap the layer turn on alpha
lock and then with our brush let's go along the edge just a little bit and we'll do the same for
the other one tap it turn on alpha lock and i also want to add some light to the trees here we have
our trees in the foreground let's tap the plus for a new layer on top set that layer to clipping mask
then we'll go to the studio pen and with this color let's just go over the tree trunk here with
these vertical motions adding a bit of like a barky texture you don't have to go all the way up
so just jagged motions for that barky texture that is lit by the house and then we can lower
the opacity a bit maybe to like 62 and tap the layer add a mask and i use that soft brush again
under airbrushing and i'll just fade the top and the bottom just a little bit
make it nice and subtle and you can do the same for these trees over here by the way if you like
this effect if you're happy with it you can pinch the layers together again and go to this layer
tap the plus set the layer to clipping mask then go to that studio pen and here as well add some of
that bark effect lower the opacity to like 60 percent add a mask and then go to the soft brush
and fade it a little bit make it a bit more subtle now we're almost there let's add some
smoke from our chimney again you can pinch these together if you're happy with them
and that's all fine now you just need to have your background your sky on a separate layer
at this point and then for our chimney let's make well for our smoke let's make a layer underneath
our house but on top of all the trees i'm going to pinch those together too so let's tap the plus
then let's pick this color that's the fifth color in the third row and for the brush we'll go back
to the studio pen and i will start here and make a swirly motion up and go next to it
and make more swirly motions closing the shape you can also add some holes in it
thus and then you can drag in the color if the shape is closed of course it's not
closed at the bottom make sure it's closed then drag in the color
then let's lower the opacity of this layer let's set it to 70 percent and then let's add a layer
mask we'll tap a layer add mask add a mask tap that then go to the soft brush again and now we
are going to go over the top here and also here fading that smoke and i want the top to nicely
fade into the sky go over multiple times we'll have something like this then let's also add a
few clouds in our sky so let's go here tap the plus and then for our brush we'll go back to
the studio pen again now let's make some really random shapes some pointy shapes really like this
drag in the color these are going to be really faded so you don't have to give these a whole
lot of thought just go for something like this maybe one more and then let's lower the opacity
make it really low let's go for something like three percent so it's really really faded really
subtle and then let's make a layer on top or underneath we can go underneath a new layer and
now we are going to add some stars let's go to the luminance brushes and use the light pen
mine needs to load so it looks a little bit weird but it's working and actually for the clouds
i wanted to use another color i'm thinking about that now so let's
pick this one actually and we'll we'll also use that for the stars the sixth color
let's just drag it onto these clouds if we can find them let's turn up the opacity
given this color you can just drag the color on there and i'll lower the opacity to three percent
then for the stars we'll go back to this layer with our light pen opacity is at 100 size at
32 and let's just add some stars in a few random spots this is really that final touch
that we need and if you press harder you'll get a brighter star try to vary that a little bit
you don't have to add too many few clusters and then you're done i hope you enjoyed creating your
own little cabin and i'm hoping to see you next time for the next tutorial thank you for watching
