AI GeneratedKevin takes Megan and Icarus, two senior lions, on an enrichment walk to stimulate their physical and mental well-being. The video highlights the strong bond the pair has developed over two years and the importance of exercise for aging animals, particularly for Icarus, who suffers from spinal arthritis.
What's happening? Oh, what's happening? What's happening?
Are you having fun? Eh? Is this your idea of fun?
She goes to help him. Hello my girl. Oh, hello boy.
All right, good morning everyone. Today we're going to be taking
Megan Icarus out for an enrichment walk. It's a lovely, crisp, windy-ish morning.
The temperatures have been getting a lot better. Long overdue for these two lovebirds
to get out and about and I'm proudly wearing my Love is Wild Remel shirt from T-Mill.
This shirt is made entirely out of remanufactured t-shirts. Pretty cool that it's part of a
circular economy. So today's walk, we're going to be catching up with Meg and Icky.
They have been getting along incredibly well of late. It's so, so, so cool to see.
Lying together, rolling together, head rubbing. So yeah, really getting along well.
Health-wise, Meg, yeah, she's strong, strong as an ox. Icarus has a similar condition
to what Bobcat has. It's basically arthritis in the spine. It's an age-related illness.
These walks are super important in mobilizing the spine.
All right, just while I catch up to Megan Icarus,
today's video is also going to have a little twist to it. So a lot of the members
have been asking for hashtag ask Meg installments. So I said to my team, okay, cool,
I'll make it part of a video and the members part will be an extended version of this video and we
will tackle all the questions. Guys, if you are wanting to know more and you're curious and you
are wanting to take your support of the channel that extra step, then I would suggest you go and
check out members because the members really, really do get some cool stuff. And what's more
important to them, or at least this is the feedback that we're getting, is that they are so
happy to be part of this community. And that's actually what members was really about. It was
setting up this mechanism for people to be able to communicate with each other and have this sense
of community, which is really awesome. Just the other day we had somebody write in and tell us
how much he appreciated the member community because they had supported him through
a really, really difficult time. And he just needed that sense of that there were people
out there who actually cared. And so that was really awesome to see. And so for somebody to
write in and tell us that I think is pretty, pretty cool. What's happening? Oh, what's happening?
What's happening? Are you having fun? Hey, is this your idea of fun? Is this your idea of fun?
Hey, is this your idea of fun? Going and teasing the other lions? Yeah, even grannies have fun
teasing other people. Other lions, yeah. Hello, my gorgeous girl. Hello, my gorgeous girl.
Oh, this is such fun, hey? Oh, this is such fun. Are you having fun, hey?
She's having such fun. Hey, look at that, hey? Charlie and Thorie and Nish.
What do you want to do? And who's that over there?
All right, so Icarus is not wanting to move on from the fence. Meg, I can see, is getting a little bit
tired. It's been quite a walk over here, hasn't it, girl? A couple of kilometers,
maybe a kilometer or two. So what's really cool to see, guys, is that she doesn't
want to separate too much from him. So they stick together like a normal couple.
And that is awesome, because in the beginning, when I used to let these two out,
then they used to walk off in opposite directions. So this bonding process,
it's taken probably the better part of two years to bond properly,
but totally worth it. End of the day, totally worth it.
She goes to help him.
So what's super interesting, guys, or maybe not so super interesting,
is that whoever you take out for a walk, invariably they do reach the perimeter and
they are going to seek out the lions on the other side. So that happens, but generally they
are pretty cool with all the other older lions. It's just when they get to Thor's group.
So the other week I was walking Bobcat and Gabby, same thing, get to Thor's group,
and it's just they target the younger animals or, you know, the younger animals target them.
So they see, you know, aging animals, they see potential weaknesses and they want to rev them.
We're just waiting for George to arrive with the Uber, the Uber van.
Meg has had an absolute blast. I know it hasn't been the most exciting walk, but I could see
just from her demeanor, she's so relaxed and happy. I haven't seen Meg like this in a long,
long time. So it's really cool to see. She's just so, she's not edgy. She's
stopping to smell the bushes. You know, she walks a bit and she chills a bit,
which is super cool to see. She's just enjoying the smells and the scenery. It's really wonderful.
Icky, on the other hand, decided that he's going to stay put opposite Thor's group
and he's just going to keep a good eye on them.
So yeah, if that floats his boat, then good for him. I think, as we all know, these walks are
for the animal. So as much as we all would like to see them doing something really exciting,
she's just as, so that, that is just, oh man, it's been such a while since she's just,
she's really just super affectionate, coming up and head bumping.
She's really loving towards Icarus. And these walks are really just about that,
just getting them out and about, letting them do their, their thing. And if their thing is
lying under a tree or sitting opposite the other group of lions, teasing them, then so be it.
It's their walk. And it really does stimulate. I mean, just look at her.
This, this kind of thing would never, never go down in a, in a camp. The exercise, the walking,
long, long, long walks is what it's about. It's, it's, it's really what lions do in,
in the wilderness. You know, they, they get into walk mode and they walk for miles and miles and
miles and miles. Generally speaking, as they follow the prey. Good girl. Yeah. Good catch.
All right, guys. So that's it for today's video. Hope you enjoyed. If you did,
please do like and share. Until next time, from me, Kevin. Cheers, guys.
