The Cheapest Way to Fill Your Garden with Colour!
Annual plants are a fantastic way to add colour to your garden for very little cost. In this video I’m going to show you how I’m using them to add colour to our borders.
We’ve been growing annuals, which are plants that last for just one year, from seed since March and now they are ready to be planted out. A great place for them is in the cottage garden bed where cosmos, poppies and calendula add pops of colour amongst the perennials.
If you haven’t sown them from seed don't worry you can still buy them as mature plants from the garden centre (often in packs) and they are usually cheaper than mature perennials.
Another great way to save money on plants is by sowing directly into the ground, plants that will flower next year - Biennials. By sowing them in the veg patch they won't be disturbed by other plants and will be growing in rich soil. Just like crops in the veg garden, I sow them in rows and, if all goes well, I will have a host of flowers for my borders in 2027.
