The TCL NXTPaper 70 Pro is a big 6.9-inch Android phone that costs around $200 through T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile and about $300 unlocked, and its whole pitch is the screen. Instead of chasing a brighter, glossier panel, TCL built a matte, anti-reflective, paper-like NXTPaper display that's meant to be easier on the eyes for reading and long sessions. In this review I put those claims to the test — comparing reflections and on-camera flicker against a Samsung and an iPhone, trying it in direct sunlight, and running through the NXTPaper reading modes (Color Paper, Ink Paper and Max Ink). I also go through the design and build, the 5200mAh battery and 33W charging, the clean near-stock Android 16 software and AI features, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 performance, the cameras, and the speakers — so you can decide whether a $200 paper-screen phone makes sense for you.
