Today we went on a hike in Montana's Absaroka Beartooth Mountains.
This hike is a quick and easy three mile out and back hike that takes you to a
waterfall. We brought the carrier for her. So far
not needed it yet. We're about a mile in maybe. Hopefully she'll get to the end.
This area was hit by a bad windstorm in the fall which created microbursts that
knocked down a lot of trees. Microbursts kind of suck because they
destroy a lot of trees but it also opens up the view.
My brother is a deputy in the area that I live in and on this particular hike
back in winter I think there are a couple of
European hikers out here. They called 9-1-1 because apparently a bear,
a black bear, was stalking them. So my brother
and another deputy had to come out and help bring them down off the trail
because I think the people were just too nervous to keep going without help.
I have my bear spray on always. This hike is easy enough for my four-year-old
and two-year-old. My youngest did about 2.6 miles of it.
It's an easy but rewarding hike.
