Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back to my channel.
Today we are trying out acrylic markers again.
This is the pack of 60 liquid based waterproof acrylic markers.
The colors are displayed on the back with their code number and when you open the box
you get this beautiful display of markers.
They're split into four sections like this.
There are so many colors here, you can truly get a whole value range with these markers.
This is how the marker looks like.
You have to shake them before you use them and they come out super smooth and creamy.
And it's also so cool seeing the ink flow on the handle here.
I'm gonna swatch the markers now and my first impression is that the colors are so vibrant
and opaque and I really like the coverage of them by using the side of the marker.
I would suggest testing out the marker before you color an actual drawing because for some
of the markers I shook them a little too long and a lot of ink came out.
So I think shaking them for 5-10 seconds is most ideal.
Now I'm gonna start sketching.
I'm doing a simple sketchbook spread on some of my recent interests.
I've been listening to Islet recently so I decided to draw Wonhee from Islet.
And a lot of you have also requested me to draw Islet members so I decided why not.
I think she looks super adorable in this pose and I wanted to practice more with using acrylic
markers to draw portraits.
I'm also drawing a full body pose because I want to practice drawing anatomy in poses
more.
I feel like I'm getting way too comfortable with drawing portraits and while that's not
a bad thing, I just think I can improve more with drawing a variety of things.
Now I'm drawing a yogurt bowl because I feel like I can use a lot of colors for it.
And I really want to make this spread colorful to use the most out of these markers.
This is how the sketch looks like so far.
I'm pretty happy with it but for the left side, I'm gonna be using tone tan paper just
because I want to test the marker on different colors and textures.
I also have this adorable mofusan plush that I want to draw but you'll see later that I'm
gonna change the chili pepper to a strawberry just because I don't want so much of this
red color taking over the page.
That way the drawing can look more cohesive and colorful.
I've used tone tan paper before in some of my spreads but I use colored pencils so I
would have to press really hard on them in order to get the color out so I'm curious
to see how these markers would turn out on them.
It is finally coloring time!
I'm starting with wonhee first and I'm applying the shadow colors in areas where it would
be the darkest.
So like the eyes, nostrils, mouth, and the bottom of the chin.
Just so I have an idea of the form of the face.
After I do the shadow colors, I move on to the midtone colors.
And I'm also using a paintbrush to blend the colors together.
I think it really gives that soft airbrush transition which is what I like doing in my
style.
I'm sort of just choosing the colors based on their values and the vibe of it.
So I'm using colors that are close to each other so it blends more easily.
I also love the brush tip on these markers.
They can make really small details and they give you that nice brushwork.
They would get a little fuzzy over time but I'm trying my best to keep them nice and sharp.
Carrying on the same technique to the yogurt bowl, I'm laying down the base colors for
the shadows again.
I'm not too worried about making a mistake because I know that the markers can just cover
it up.
That's the best thing about acrylic markers.
I honestly didn't really know how I was going to draw the raspberries but I simply just
drew a bunch of connected circles and then just built up the form.
It was so cool seeing these like red gumdrops turn into raspberries.
So don't ask me what those yellow blobs are.
I think they're apples from the yogurt bowl but they're not as detailed because I want
I want to bring more focus to the raspberries and the bananas so they're just like blobs
of color.
Moving on to the cat plush now, I'm going to use colors that go with the color scheme
of the spread so far.
So instead of gray and white for it, I'm doing warmer colors.
So light yellow, orange, and white.
And oh my god, it was literally so satisfying seeing these markers on the tone paper.
The colors just pop out on the page which is super cool.
After I finish coloring, I cut out the drawing so it looks like I'm applying a sticker on
the page.
And I'm going back to the Wonhee portrait to add in more values and colors.
I like to work around the page so you'll see me going back to it later.
I was also low-key struggling on her face because it just didn't look like her after
I started coloring so I kept going in and fixing it.
For the last part of the spread, I'm coloring in the full body pose.
And I actually really like how this turned out.
I got more confident with using these markers so I'm just going crazy with them.
I'm just kidding.
I mean, I kind of knew how to use them a little more so I just needed more practice to really
get the hang of them.
They're definitely a big difference in my comfort medium colored pencils in both the
texture and techniques but I like trying new things and sharing them with you guys so this
was really fun.
These markers were really helpful in speeding up the drawing process since I was able to
cover larger areas so quickly.
I hadn't realized that I was almost already done with the spread since it just went by
so fast and I had so much fun.
I also really like the vibrant colors they give you in this marker set.
I think it makes the spread stand out more especially if you use a combination of both
pastel colors with the vibrant colors.
I like how I'm able to go over what I already colored and add in some vibrant colors cause
normally you can't cover a dark color with a lighter color but these let you do that
and I just, I love it.
We are nearing the end of the video and before I go, I wanted to mention that Artix is doing
a Prime Day promotion from June 23rd to 26th local time.
