Waitress Slipped a Note Into a Stranger's Hand. They Read It Outside and Started Crying

A couple sat down for dinner at a small Texas restaurant during one of the worst nights of their lives.

They'd just fled their flooded Houston home during Hurricane Harvey, left everything behind, and driven north to Tammy's mother's house. When they sat down in that booth, they weren't thinking about anything except getting through the next few hours.

Their waitress — a woman named Mary Gow — listened to a little of their story as the evening went on.

And then, as they were heading out the door, she caught up to them and pressed a folded piece of paper into Tammy's hand.

They read it in the parking lot. Then they turned right back around.

What was inside that note, and what Mary offered them next, is the kind of thing that reminds you what people are actually capable of when they're paying attention.
