Trump and Iran President Pezeshkian sign deal to end Middle East war
Jun 19, 2026
The US and Iran have signed an interim deal, with the first round of talks on details and implementation due in Switzerland tomorrow. The 14-point text extends a ceasefire announced in April, allowing another 60 days for negotiations to reach a final deal. The Memorandum of Understanding draws up management of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, with terms still to be hammered out. However, the agreement does not specifically address Tehran's ballistic missile programme, which has been a long-standing concern for Washington and Israel. Kate Fisher reports from Washington DC and Blake Sifton reports from Tel Aviv.
