Addition and subtraction games for kids are numerous and they might come with a treat as well. Teaching the kids how to count comes along with a little bit of "adding" and "taking away", and thus it will all end up with the kids managing to count numbers, add and subtract.
How to count? How to add? How to subtract? These are three different parts of math which the kids start their journey with learning and they are all easy especially when the parent focuses on teaching them the different meanings used, such as telling them that adding is the same as plus and that subtracting is the same as taking away and minus.
In this video, the main thing used to teach the kids counting are those little cheerios which they could eat along the game as a treat. Ask the child to bring out a specific number of cheerios then ask him/her to take away or add another number, and so on. This will test the kids ability to count, add and subtract.
Always examine the kids' ability to make the different mathematical operations that you are giving them because you could at some point ask them how to reach the number zero, and at this point they will tell you that eating the cheerios is the answer. It will end up being a game for the child, a lesson to learn counting, addition and subtraction from, and at the same time a good treat.
We have different other lesson ideas to teach the kids when it comes to counting, addition and subtraction, and most of them are related to the different games that they will be playing. Math could be taught through using Lego (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMd8kMHIHo), it could be delivered to the kids through play doh games (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgsaOTbbjUA) and it could also happen through counting with using the fingers and the toes and making the whole lesson a little bit more fun (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jkrRRXgFq8).
Challenging the child is the most important thing and that is exactly the main purpose of playing these games with them. There are also some magic math tricks that the kids learn to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide through without even realizing, because the more they perform these tricks on their friends and family, the more they will be making some calculations in their heads (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpm-k--AWNs).
The games, methods and techniques that parents homeschooling their kids could try, it might be all about the magic math tricks, it could be related to the different games with Lego and play doh or even with the different other toys that the kids own, but eventually they will get introduced to the English numbers, learn how to count in the correct order, and eventually come to the part of learning addition and subtraction.
Moving step by step is the most important thing, if the child is still in the beginning of the educational journey then it is important to start with small numbers for example and make easy equations for them to solve, if the kids have gone a long distance in their mathematical journey then making the equations a little bit harder is considered suitable and also choosing bigger numbers for them to count will always work out perfectly.
How do you teach your kids to count numbers? How did you manage to teach them addition and subtraction? Do you depend on the different games or else prefer the ordinary methods of using a pen and a paper?
We could also share some tricks and hacks for the kids to use and depend on when they are learning to add or subtract or even when they are learning multiplication and division. These hacks could make it easier for them to solve the different calculations that they come across in their lessons, such as learning the multiplication timetable for number nine on just using the fingers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA9UdpBgq4w).
