Differentiating between ones and tens is one of the things that kids get to learn when it comes to math, just after they learn the numbers. The ones and the tens is part of counting, when kids learn to count, they also learn the ones and tens along the way (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYmMjMBjMcI). Ones are those numbers that consist of only one number, while the tens are the numbers formed of two numbers.
Educating the kids and teaching them some mathematical lessons could happen through lots of different ways, one of them is depending on cheerios and using them to count. Cheerios are from the favorite things for the children, so when it comes to education, it becomes one method they could use and easily fall in love with.
Aaron was supposed to count the number of cheerios he has and put ten in the stick attached to the paper (under the tens partition) and then placing the remaining ones in the ones partition (since they are all under 10 in this video. This is a good method to help the kids to count and at the same time differentiate between the ones and the tens (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkqMQJMtCrQ).
Counting is easy, especially when it comes in the form of counting objects placed in front of you, which is why it is considered easier for the kids to count the cheerios while placing them in the stick rather than counting them all in their mind or on their own (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMd8kMHIHo).
While teaching the kids to count and separate the tens and the ones, parents could get the chance to teach their kids some mathematical equations, such as 10 + 4 = 14 or else 10 + 1 = 11 and so on. This will help the kids to know more about addition as well, which is one of the different mathematical operations that are found in the world of math out there, in addition to subtraction, multiplication and division (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzdK9bT9uOE).
There are lots of creative ways that one could depend on to teach the kids to count and then comes all the different mathematical operations that kids are supposed to learn later on. There are lots of different words and expressions used in the world of math, such as the tens and the ones, and some kids even lose the meaning of these expressions and words because parents don't focus on them while they are homeschooling the kids.
In addition to the ordinary ways that parents use in teaching their kids math, there are also some tricks which they also use to let the kids play games with their friends and family and manage to bring out the answers for the questions through different ways, such as the tricks with the time tables for different numbers, such as with number 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrEBV-EvnOk), the multiplication trick for number 9 times table (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA9UdpBgq4w), as well as other tricks which parents might still know about.
When it comes to the different math games that the kids tend to play, there are those games which are all about adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers to bring the same answer every single time, no matter what the number that the person playing with the kid chooses is (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=751EHF4S_Yo).
This is one of the different counting and mental math lessons to teach the kids with using their favorite cheerios, this will eventually bring them to count and to know the tens and the ones.
