Are you searching for a method to teach kids multiplication that is suitable for all the different age groups? The grid method is one of the easiest and one of the most effective methods that could suit all the different age groups and one which we personally prefer to teach our kids with (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9TWSto7FSU).

Addition and subtraction might be the initial steps taken in the world of teaching kids math and then comes the more difficult part that is related to multiplication and division. Multiplication usually depends on the time table that is related to every single number; some kids might memorize it, while others could have learned to bring out the answers with using their minds and a pen and a paper. The problem appears when the multiplication number is carrying more than one digit and this is when the kids start to panic and don't know how they should work that number out.

The gird method is effective because it goes through several steps and every single step of them tends to teach the kid something to follow in order to reach that final answer. In the grid method, the kid will have to go through five different steps: drawing the grid itself, partitioning the number to tens and units, doing the multiplication part, adding the numbers to get the final answer and eventually making sure to double check this final answer.

The table which the kid will need to draw will depend on the number that he/she has, in our case, this was the table needed in order to place the numbers we have. Michelle explained how the partitioning of the numbers should happen by separating the first number from the second in tens and units and then placing these two numbers in the table, she then went on to teach the kids how they should do the multiplication itself, how they should add the final numbers and she made sure of the double checking step that comes at the end.

The grid method is useful for the kids because the kids could actually see all the steps they are going through and see everything they are doing, they will understand the place value and it becomes a visual method for them to depend on. The best thing about the grid method in multiplication is the fact that it could be used with almost all the different age groups no matter in which class they are in school.

Homeschooling urges the parents to find exciting methods that would encourage the kids to learn and will make them more interested in the whole idea of homeschooling. A lot of parents start searching for the support that they will need to end up making the idea of homeschooling successful and that is why we decided to bring those educational videos we have to life in order to help them.

We have other ways to recommend when it comes to maths and to multiplication. Using some mental games is one of our favorite ways to teach math, we have tried using the building blocks in multiplication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPW1bmLTFdA) and we have also used other toys from the kids collection (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pWka6dk3b4). We also depended on the time tables which we all know is the most famous thing known in the world of multiplication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAc1YC0sqss), we brought the numbers' table in order to teach them how to multiply (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKom4XkX7-8) and we also focused on the idea of bringing some tricks and facts which would end up being helpful to them while learning multiplication as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYvf790iHUc) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GwAN7tYpe4).

We have to say that the grid method proved to be a successful one used with the kids and we prefer it for several reasons, which we have already mentioned. It is important to pay attention to your kid while learning this method to make sure that he/she is moving in the right direction and taking the right steps and also make sure that they are double checking at the end, which we believe is the most important part of the whole process.

Try this grid method with your kids and let us hear about your feedback and how much successful it turned out to be in the end.
