Coming up with new and interesting ways to teach kids counting and maths in general is now one of the parents' requests, and thinking about using play doh is considered one of the successful and motivating techniques that are used these days.

You could do shapes, you could write letters and numbers, you could create a pattern, etc. There are lots of things that kids could do with using the play doh and these different things could actually help them to learn and practice along the way, parents should just choose the right games and mathematical problems and they will reach the goal needed.

In this video, Michelle is focusing on the story telling technique and method that is also related to math in some kind of way. Storytelling is one thing that any person should learn to do in order to manage building a conversation or even going along with one. Michelle asked Aaron at first to count the dots found on the back of the snakes and she built a discussion with him about how he got the answer and what are the other different ways that the answer could be calculated through. Michelle then asked Aaron to tell a story using those three snakes but managed to arrange them in a specific order and give each one a number or dot.

Asking any kid to tell a story is important because it will also awaken their creative mind and let them come up with new ideas, which was exactly what Aaron has done in this video.

It is also important for you as a parent to take part in the game you are playing with your kid to make homeschooling appear more like a conversation or a game between two and this happens through the discussion which you are going to build but it is also built on the idea of being the one who is receiving the questions; let your kid ask you some questions through the game but always examine if he/she knows the answer to the question or not by either tricking them and giving a wrong answer or else by paying attention to their reaction.

Learning with play doh will be always interesting and you could always come up with different methods and new games to follow and your kids will be always interested anyway. Counting for kids might sometimes be interesting but when it gets harder they might lose the excitement and that is when your techniques should solve the problem and do otherwise.

We have different play doh learning videos which you could depend on as the kind of support you need to make homeschooling successful. These educational videos which we have are different, there are those related to math, there are those related to creating and writing numbers and there are also those related to teaching the kids to make patterns and pay attention to direction and the order they have been using (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhME5y2JbH0). One of the different links which you could check here is teaching kids to count using play doh but in a more indirect way, just like when Michelle asked James to make her three buns for her bakery shop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vz9AtjDpb0).

When it comes to play doh, there are other educational videos which we have created for kids to learn math such as the one that supports them to count and even match while playing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gig9xaA5Bzk). Play doh could be used for making shapes and writing numbers and we have tried that before with the kids to make the process of learning how to write much more interesting for them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgsaOTbbjUA).

You could also find other educational resources on our channel that teach the kids maths and English through using other toys such as the Lego, which is another lovable game that the kids enjoy all the time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMd8kMHIHo).

There are lots of learning methods that one could depend on either at school or at home and according to our trials, they proved to be successful and managed to make the kids excited to count, write and learn lots of other things as well.

If you have any questions you want to ask or if you carry any suggestions you want to provide, let us know about them so that we could offer our help back to you.
