If you're coming to Vietnam you have to put Phong Nha on your list and this is why.
This is like Pirates of the Caribbean. Once again we're trapped in a rainstorm.
So we're in Phong Nha village and we just booked a boat so we can go
explore two caves and the first one that we're gonna go to is the Phong Nha cave.
We're in the Phong Nha cave which means wind and teeth because of its jagged entrance.
And it is 7.7 kilometers long. The river runs a little over 13 kilometers long.
For tourists or for visitors we're only able to explore a kilometer but because of the
water like how high it is we're only able to see like about a third of it.
So this cave was used in the Vietnam war as a shelter and a hospital.
It's like so quiet. Yeah. I wonder if you could echo.
Probably if you do it a little louder you'll get all the bats moving towards you.
So some of the stalactites and stalagmites form like have like form have like the shape of like
a lion, a buddha. So let's see if we can spot them. If we're able to spot them.
So right now what we're doing is we're doing the Phong Nha cave and the Tien Son cave.
It's going to cost it cost us uh one million and ten thousand
Vietnamese dong which more or less is about 40 about 40 dollars. It would have been a lot cheaper
if we decided to share a boat with with another group but we we wanted to get our own boat so that
way we didn't have to worry about you know being around other people and stuff. So the boat itself
costs 550,000 which is it's about 20 bucks. So if you decide to share with somebody else you can
get it for a bit cheaper. Liam as usual is free because he's under 1.3 meters and yeah. So the
first part of this is the Phong Nha cave and then we're going to be going to the Tien Son cave.
So the first part of the Phong Nha is uh it's called the wet cave because you have to come in
through the river on the boat and then you get off here and take a bunch of stairs and
just kind of walk through and check it out and it's it's pretty pretty great. It's pretty neat
yeah it's incredible and it's super tall. I don't think it compares to the other caves that we've
been to. Like this one's better? Yeah definitely. Well I feel like it's an actual cave. I don't know
how to explain it. Honestly it feels like we're in like Pirates of the Caribbean. Yeah. All right
let's walk this way. This one looks like a cactus. Do you see it? Some nopal. Nopal. Home is calling
That's how much I miss home. Come on puppy. You know in the videos and stuff that we saw
the water and the river looked a lot clearer and bluer. Yeah. But there's been a lot of rainstorms
and it is raining season so I'm assuming that's why the the water isn't as clear because
the storm is you know mixing up the dirt making it a little bit more cloudy. Yeah so this cave is
known as Vietnam's first wonder. We just finished the Phong Nha cave and we're gonna be heading to
the next cave. Yeah it's gonna be it's about 100 meters above this cave and according to the flyer
it's about 500 steps. Oh wow. Yeah. Workout of the day. Yeah we're gonna get a nice workout.
Which is good because we haven't really done a workout. We've been slacking.
Okay so it started raining we had to switch cameras and take off the mics. Well the good
thing is that besides that tractor it's not like too noisy so you should be able to hear us. Yeah
it's not a Chelly travels video unless it starts raining halfway through.
But we booked this trip last minute literally like yesterday. Yeah. And right as we were waiting
for the train right you looked it up. Yeah right when we were waiting for the train I was on
Facebook and one of the Vietnam groups that I'm in started posting pictures of a hurricane headed
our way. So a hurricane's supposed to hit. In this specific area. Yeah in this specific area basically.
So a hurricane's supposed to hit like what tomorrow? Friday. No Friday. What's today? Wednesday? Yeah.
So in like two days we're supposed to get hit by a hurricane. We're not gonna leave till Saturday so
we're gonna see how that works out. Hopefully we don't stay trapped here
and hopefully like doesn't flood or. Yes. No chaos.
This guy right here is a little trooper. He's gonna be like
a running back or something with the legs he's getting from all his hiking with us.
Mommy. Go baby go. You can go go. Let's go. All right we gotta move.
Okay so once again we're trapped in a rainstorm but this time we're on the top of a mountain
in a cave. Yes. So with a bunch of steps, steep steps. Yeah so we're 500 steps up about 100 meters.
And I'm feeling sick. Yeah so I went through the cave a little bit by myself because I want
they wanted to stay up here and dry and rest. The action camera lighting was terrible.
I got a little bit of footage on my iPhone but I have an old older iPhone so that footage isn't
great either. But we're just gonna call it quits. It's still raining but we're just gonna pull
through and make it down to the boat. Hopefully they're still there. Yeah we're just gonna try
to get to the boat before it gets worse and call it a day. So it was fun while it lasted. Yep.
So we're just easing our way down step by step making sure we're careful.
Where we are is a national park. Yeah. And there's a whole bunch of caves in this area. Yeah actually
this city that we're in not too far from here a cave not too far from here that's actually the
biggest cave in the world. In Asia? No in the world. Oh yeah oh yeah. So the cave is so big
that it actually has its own ecosystem. It has its own forest, its own beach, it even has clouds.
We just got off the boat and look at this the sun is coming out. Incredible.

We're here at Phong Nhat Botanical Garden which is a 40 hectare miniature portion of what the
national park looks like and we're gonna go trek to a lake and I mean I'm sorry to a swimming hole
and a waterfall. Carefully mommy. Carefully, carefully puppy. I'm gonna be like those memes
where they fall off. Thank you my baby. High five. Okay so we're here we're gonna be doing a little
hike. The loop that we're doing it's about an hour and a half. It's going to take us to the
swimming hole and the waterfall. There are three options. One is a 40 minute hike which just goes
straight to the waterfall. The second is the one we're doing which as I just mentioned goes to the
swimming hole and the waterfall and then there's a three hour option which does both of those as
well but it's just really more like into the jungle and a little bit more difficult.
So we're about to do this. One thing that we're a little concerned about is that we do have a
three-year-old child with us. So you know we might be getting into one of those situations like we
always do where we're biting off a little bit more than we could chew. Well as far as I read like
there's no restrictions on like bringing kids. Yeah and I mean it says children under 1.3 meters
are free so it's not restricting us from taking kids. I thought that was Liam. What is that?
I don't know. I thought it was Liam too. Maybe a monkey? Maybe. Okay where do I step next? Step
left on that boulder right there next to your right foot. There you go.
Oh crap. Okay. We're here at the swimming hole and it actually didn't take that long for us to
get here and it's not that hard but since this part it is a loop around to the waterfall it
does look like it's gonna get more rocky. So we're gonna go back to where through where we came from
and just go straight to the waterfall from the entrance. Just because we feel like it'll be a
little bit safer and we want to make sure that you know none of us especially Liam get hurt.
Especially Liam. Especially Liam. That being said you know we're super beautiful out here lots of
trees lots of bugs if you're into that sort of thing. The sound of the water running through
the creek is so peaceful. Yeah. Let's just build a little cabin right here and retire. Honestly.
We can live off the land. Yeah right. I love like seeing it. Liam wait. I love seeing nature.
I just after a while I don't think I can be in it.
But it's a really nice experience and it's so green. Everything is so green.
The price is about 80,000 VND which is like two dollars and eighty cents or something.
Which is super cheap. Are you having fun puppy? Yeah. And if you're an outdoor person like to be
in nature this is definitely something that you have to do.
Thank you for watching and if you like that video be sure to watch this one.
