Standing Chain Stitch | How to Crochet

I recently came across this really great, unique looking crochet stitch called the Standing Chain Stitch pattern.

I love the look of the standing chain. It really looks like little rows of upright foundation chains. They are very versatile and can be worked into almost any stitch pattern. Today we will simply work rows of them interspersed between rows of single crochet stitches.

This crochet pattern is written using American crochet terms.

For this tutorial I will be using a small amount of a worsted weight yarn in a single colour and a 5mm crochet hook.
