Icky was three days old the first time he met my two dogs.
He like tiny little dude and he just walked right up to them and was like hello.
Icky would go marching up to the gigantic geese who were hissing at him and he would just be like
nope we're friends now this is happening. I was absolutely cackling with laughter.
And then he would come and like boot me on the leg with his snoot so that I have to stop and
pet him. Honestly I was a little bit shocked by that because just a few days ago he was
a completely different piglet. I did not expect to find him in the barn that morning.
Icky was born about three weeks premature and his mom just didn't want anything to do with him.
And I thought there's no way this little guy can survive but I wasn't just gonna leave him
there in a cold barn. So I tucked him in my shirt and I brought him into the house
and when he woke up he was hungry which was a huge surprise.
I gave him a little bit of goat's milk and he was like oh.
And from that moment on he was all about being feisty.
Ready? Come on. And so that's how we got through the first couple months until he started to
develop some respiratory things. Luckily we were able to bring Icky to the vet and she did a
special surgery. He would always go and do the chores with me and we'd go do the other pigs.
Come on Icky. And one night he decided that he wanted to sleep with his pig friends not in the
house. It was kind of emotional in a really good way and a little bit in a sad way. But still,
if I see him in the field I'll yell Icky! And he hears it and he comes running every time.
And then Icky will climb right up those steps, get his cookie.
So he definitely thinks I'm his mom and that's just the bond we have.
I would never have told you two years ago that he would make it to
two months let alone two years. But Icky was a fighter from birth.
