We're Noelle and Jonathan, a full-time travel couple on a mission to live in 100 countries.

As we explore Vietnam, we're not just checking off tourist attractions. We're trying to understand what everyday life is actually like.

Before coming to Vietnam, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what to expect. Cheap food. Crazy traffic. Conical hats. Maybe a few stories we'd heard from other travelers. But after spending more than two months traveling through Hanoi, Hoi An, and Da Nang, Vietnam surprised us in ways we never expected.

Some of those surprises were incredible.

We found ourselves feeling safer than we anticipated, meeting some of the friendliest people we've encountered anywhere in the world, and discovering a level of quality and value that completely shattered our assumptions. From modern apartments and bustling cities to everyday experiences that challenged our expectations, Vietnam kept proving us wrong.

But not every surprise was positive.
