I should have pranked you, that's what I should have done.
So we have the pull-up bar here.
Oh my gosh, that was my ring.
I felt a little crazy ordering that.
This is so much harder.
You got it! You got it!
I never hit record.
Hey guys, welcome back to our channel.
I am so excited for today's video
because I've been wanting to do this for over a year.
I just wished so badly that somebody would have done this video
when I first started making content
and I feel like so many times like people want to be content creators,
but they have no idea like what the behind the scenes looks like
or what it should look like.
And really there is no rule book,
but I want to walk you guys through a day in the life for us
and what this looks like.
And it is a little different because not only are we full-time content creators,
but we also have a daughter.
And so just kind of navigating life, errands, business, all of that.
I'm so excited to take you guys along today.
Right now it is 10 18.
We do not film in the morning.
That's just like kind of a rule that we have.
Maybe we will make an exception here and there,
but for the most part we wake up our daughter.
We have a slow morning.
We make breakfast and that is just our family time.
We do not work in the morning.
We've already had our morning where woke my daughter up,
fed her and then I got all ready for the day.
I normally start work around 10.
Alex is taking a little power nap right now,
and then he will also work.
And so really we just try to get as much work done as possible
during our daughter's nap window.
And then just throughout the day a lot of times like me
and Alex will like pass our daughter on back and forth.
Maybe I'm watching her and he's working or vice versa right now.
I am actually working on sending some emails.
So I am the brand person of our channel.
Like I'm the one who is looking for brand deals.
I'm answering emails.
I'm working with our manager.
That's kind of my job.
Whereas Alex does a lot of the video editing scheduling all of that stuff.
So I'm going to go answer some emails and I'll be back.
While my daughter's sleeping, I'm going to clean up a little bit.
That's another thing that we always make sure to do
is we like to have somewhat of a clean background whenever we're filming.
So let's do the fastest clean of our lives.
And that was my little 10-minute tidy.
It doesn't need to be perfect,
but it just needs to look somewhat tidy in the background.
Courtney just woke me up from my nap and I'm not gonna lie.
I definitely slept a little bit longer than I was supposed to.
It was supposed to be a 15-minute power nap.
And it was only 30 minutes.
Just didn't get a lot of sleep last night.
But Aspen's probably going to be waking up in about 30 minutes.
So we need to film a couple videos.
And I found one that I actually think is...
I don't know if it's necessarily a trend,
but I think it could be one.
Should we just get it set up and we'll show them what it is?
Sure.
All right, let's do it.
Kind of silly, but I just want to show how tough I am to Courtney.
Oh gosh.
It's seeing if I could save Courtney if we were hanging off of a cliff.
Okay, so we have to pull a car here.
Oh my gosh, that was my ring.
All it is, is me seeing if I would be able to save you if we were hanging off of a cliff.
So I'm gonna be hanging off of the pull-up bar and you're gonna get on my back.
And you're just gonna dangle?
I'm just gonna save us.
Okay, let's get the tripod set up.
Every man wants to save their girl.
We pretty much almost always have to set up the tripod, the camera, close to a window
so that we have good light, which is not always the easiest thing to do.
Yeah, we don't have like a content creator house.
We have a very normal average house.
I feel like a lot of other content creators like I feel like they just have windows everywhere.
I think we just want to be able to see you behind me.
Yeah, which I think we'll be able to see you behind me there.
I mean, I think that's a good angle.
Hi guys.
Well, this is kind of trippy.
Let me know if you guys are interested in us linking some of our equipment
because we don't gatekeep over here.
Who's a gatekeeper?
Let's see if my husband could save us if we were dangling off a cliff.
You know I can.
Come on, let's go.
Let's get on the cliff baby.
Should I hop on your back?
Yeah, I think so.
Okay.
All right, you ready?
No, no, I want you to know I have faith in you.
I would never let you fall.
Ready?
Yes.
Set.
Go.
Oh my gosh.
This is so much harder than I thought.
You got it.
Think of your family.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, uncle, uncle.
Oh my gosh, that was actually kind of hard.
Babe.
I don't think we can post this.
I never hit record.
No, I just stopped.
Oh my gosh.
We're good.
That is one of the scariest things as an influencer is you
go back to the camera and you're like, we didn't record that.
Yeah.
So every once in a while we prank each other and like we get
done with like a really hard video or something.
We're like, oh my gosh, I didn't push record.
So at this point, I literally never believe it.
Alex and I always post twice a day every day.
We hardly ever miss a day ever.
No, it's pretty pretty rare.
Yeah, and so we're going to try to find one more either
trend or trending audio.
I should have pranked you.
That's what I should have done.
See, I pranked you because I actually can carry you and would
save you.
Pranked.
Joke's on me.
I'm actually really easy.
I was acting like it was hard.
So Miss Aspen is up and one thing about filming is you just
have no idea how long she's going to sleep for.
This girl needs some lunch.
Yes, she needs some food.
So I'm going to give her some.
She gave us like a good hour and a half nap that time.
So sometimes it's like 45 minutes, but oh my goodness.
Yeah, let's get her some food.
While he does that I'm going to go get dressed because I'm
still in my PJs.
Okay, our lighting just completely changed because it started
crazy storming outside.
I don't know if you can see it.
Today's video is sponsored by Quinn's which is my favorite
clothing brand.
There's like a whole backstory to it.
So I first discovered the brand when I bought these earrings
and I bought two 100% Mongolian cashmere sweaters and I have
fallen in love with the brand.
I own so much from them.
And then I don't know if you saw the one of our recent videos
where Alex surprised me for our anniversary.
He bought me this 14 karat gold necklace and I was just talking
about how much I love the brand Quinn's and I don't know if
they saw that video but they reached out shortly after and
asked if they could sponsor my like this video.
I don't know.
It's just like the craziest coolest thing ever when brands
that you absolutely love reach out and they want to support
your channel.
So I'm going to show you a couple things that I got.
This is the first outfit.
I have a 100% cotton sweater and 100% linen shorts.
And obviously if you love something you've got to get it in
another color.
That's actually one thing that I love about Quinn's is if you
fall in love with a piece they probably have it in like eight
other colors.
I've had this one in white for quite a while.
So I picked it up in Navy.
This is the last piece that I got.
This is a beautiful yellow midi dress paired with a little
linen button down.
Yes, it has pockets.
I know I probably sound like a total salesperson but truly I
just love this brand so much.
I've gotten all my friends on it.
They work with top-tier manufacturers to cut out the middleman
so we don't have to pay the markup prices and they don't just
have clothing.
They also have jewelry, home goods, bedding.
If you guys are interested, I'm going to put a QR code.
This is the best way to support our channel is just scan the
QR code go to the website.
They have 365 day return and they have free shipping.
We're getting ready to leave and go get Aspen's passport.
But before we do that, I'm going to give you guys just a quick
rundown of some of my responsibilities social media wise.
I think a lot of people just sort of assume that it's just
filming and that's really all you got to do.
But if you've ever made content before you probably know it
there's plenty of other things to do.
So right here is my very very messy office.
Courtney uses it as well.
But right now she watches Aspen a lot more than I do.
So that I can work and she's just doing a little bit more of
the household type stuff.
I know Courtney already mentioned that we post two times every
single day and in a perfect world.
We would just be able to film two videos every single day, but
that's just not realistic, especially when you have a kid.
So again, that's in a perfect world.
We typically just depending on how many videos we have ready
to get posted if we can film like six videos in a day, that's
amazing that way, you know when you just inevitably get sick
or Aspen's just not feeling it or something.
We don't have to film twice that day.
This is my chair.
Courtney does about 10% of the editing.
I do maybe 60% of the editing and then the other 30% we have
an editor, but I'm still responsible for getting all that
footage over to our editor and sort of communicating what
exactly we're looking for giving a feedback making revision
stuff like that.
So I spent a lot of time editing and then you don't know this.
We are active on Snapchat Instagram TikTok Facebook and YouTube
and so with five platforms, there's just like a lot of cross
posting and scheduling that needs to happen.
So even once videos are edited which a video could take anywhere
from I mean the really easy ones take a minute to edit and
some of the more complex ones you can spend 45 minutes to
an hour editing once videos are edited.
I'm responsible for sort of keeping all of those videos organized
making sure that none of them slip through the cracks and
scheduling them out on all of these platforms.
It's a lot of moving pieces.
I'm not always the best at organization.
So that's a bit of a challenge, but I feel like I've gotten
a lot better at it Excel sheets have been a lifesaver with
that on top of that content planning is a big part of what
I do as well searching for ideas right now some social media
platforms they have collections when you say videos you can
put them in different folders and that helps us organize some
of our ideas and then honestly for me a good old notes tab
on my phone.
That's where I store a lot of our video ideas and then just
sort of brainstorm with Courtney to make those come to life.
We love a flexible schedule.
We need to get Aspen her passport photo.
We go to Africa which is like the craziest like most random
place ever but we're going to go to Africa this summer and
Aspen needs a passport.
I don't know if you know anything about this, but if you want
to get an infant a passport, it's like a big deal which makes
sense.
Yeah, we need to like show up with our own IDs prove that
she is ours.
I think there's so many documents.
We need to bring which I almost forgot.
That's one thing that's very difficult about vlogging is
multitasking like we literally got into the car and you're
like, is there anything else we need?
I'm like, oh maybe the documents to get the passport multitasking
is not his strength.
Which is why we're filming a video while I'm driving.
See the ceiling?
Who's that?
That was quick and painless.
She did scream a little but then Alex was getting her to
giggle so hard.
That's my job.
Is this the key that I think it is?
I saw this hack.
I guess I don't know if I call it a hack or not, but it's
called the McDonald's Pizookie and basically what you do is
you order a mess of cookies and you put it in a like a hot
cake platter or whatever and then you put a bunch of ice
cream over top of it and then you drizzle chocolate and
caramel and Oreo bits from a McFlurry in it and you like
mash it all up and it's just this giant massive amazing
dessert.
So we're going to get it.
We'll make a little TikTok about it too.
I think a little short on I'm not gonna lie.
This is gonna be so good.
10 out of 10 gonna have a stomachache afterwards.
I was gonna say we're gonna say it's really good.
And then I feel like we're gonna regret it.
Aspen, we might even let you try some too if you behave.
Definitely gonna let her try some.
This girl did such a good job on her passport.
Like, heck yeah.
Yeah, she's doing it.
Can I please get two ice cream cones?
You guys still sell the 12 pack of cookies?
Okay.
Can I do one of those? On the side.
Could we please get a cup of fudge, the karma as well and
then a side of the Oreo bits.
All right.
Thank you.
I felt a little crazy ordering that.
Thank you.
Oh gosh, these are gonna melt.
I know.
Oh gosh, they're already melting.
We got to film the intro to our TikTok really quick.
We're creating the...
Sorry.
It's leaking.
Oh my goodness.
We're recreating the viral McDonald's pizookie.
I think that's all I need, right?
It's melting.
Throwing ice cream everywhere.
Okay.
Aspen thinks it's funny.
Okay, first you need to get a hot cakes bowl.
We got 12 cookies.
Oh gosh.
Wow, look at that.
Okay, here we go.
You can stick them, you can stick them face down.
Two ice cream cones.
This is gonna be so good.
We came home to a little bit of a surprise.
So another part of our job is, I mean, obviously you guys
know we work with brands and Ryobi sent us so many tools.
Ryobi is one of those brands that we have just built such
a good relationship with.
I think we've worked with them three times now.
So right now we have a partnership with Ryobi.
I'm just going to add a little bit to our playset to make
it just a little bit more one-year-old friendly.
We're going to be able to add some wood onto it at some
point here.
And so Ryobi's like, hey, let us know what you need and
we're just going to film some content around it.
Another thing I want to do just because not only is Aspen
a little bit young for the playset, we also have a bunch
of friends that have kids similar age as Aspen and even
a little bit younger.
And so I want to make like one of those sensory boards and
just put a bunch of little like bells and whistles, things
that make noise.
It's sensory stuff.
You guys know what that stuff is and put that on the ground
level.
So it's really easy for her to play with.
We have a bunch of tools to make that happen.
So we're just so grateful to be able to build these
long-lasting relationship because they have seriously
blessed us like crazy.
We have so many tools.
We literally had zero tools when we first bought this home.
It's like we just got a circular saw.
Like obviously that is not something that I would ever need
in a townhome that we are renting.
But now that we have a playset in the backyard, I need to
cut some wood.
Obviously our job has a lot of different responsibilities
and like just random stuff that we do.
But if you have other questions on stuff that we haven't
covered, definitely let us know in the comments.
We might actually make a video on that some other time.
One thing I will say for those of you that are considering
or thinking about making social media full-time job or
content creation.
One thing I would definitely say is if you are not disciplined
10 out of 10 recommend that you find something else.
Courtney mentioned it earlier, but we have a really flexible
schedule. With a flexible schedule, you need to be really
disciplined with how you spend your time because nobody's
waking me up in the morning.
I don't have to start work at any particular time, but I
usually wake up sometime between 5 and 6 to make sure that
number one, I have just a little bit of time with the Lord
before Aspen wakes up.
But then number two, if I can get a couple scheduling things
done before Aspen wakes up just so that I can help out with
her, help her out with breakfast or whatever. Also help
Courtney get a jumpstart to her day.
That's a lot more ideal.
You have to be super consistent with social media.
So you need to have a lot of discipline if this is what you're
going to do for a job.
So we didn't film what we've been doing for the past like
three hours or so, but Aspen took a nap for about an hour
and a half again.
And so I just did some simple scheduling stuff.
We tried to get another video done and Courtney was editing
which obviously she hasn't done that in a while, but he filmed
some solo content that I think turned out really good.
Yes, a brand deal that's in this video.
She was doing that earlier and then yeah, once Aspen woke
up, just got her some food.
And yeah, I don't know.
We're just doing normal people stuff right now.
One of the best part about being a full-time content creator
is truly the fact that we get to pick our own schedules.
I think we used to work a lot more before we had a daughter
and now I feel like we've done like a really good job at
like work-life balance, but it is six o'clock and we are
logged off.
Like we just have family time.
We just hang out with her until she goes down and then Alex
and I just, that's our time that we get to hang out with
each other.
So obviously that's just a small glimpse into what a normal
day looks like.
Obviously, we didn't record every little thing, especially
when we're sitting at our computers and stuff, but like
we mentioned before, if you have additional questions on
just things that you're curious of in our day-to-day life,
what it's like to be a content creator, drop those questions
below because we will most likely be doing a video very
soon answering some of those questions.
Yeah, like we are trying to gatekeep over here.
If you guys have specific questions, let us know and we'll
do our best to answer.
All right, Aspen.
Can you say bye-bye?
Say bye-bye.
Aspen, can you show them how you laugh?
