Okay so now for what we have been waiting for. Mainly me. I've been waiting for this all day.
So today's goal is to hug a baby monkey and no I am not crazy. Have you guys been seeing the baby
monkey Punch all over the internet? He was abandoned by his mom and now is not even accepted by other
monkeys. So the zookeepers gave him a stuffed monkey and that has been his only family. So Punch
and his stuffed monkey is going to be the carving of the month. Sponsored by Pennsylvania Great
Outdoors Visitors Bureau, home of the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous. So after watching a ton of
Punch's videos online, I really just wanted to give him a big hug. Well here's my dilemma though.
One, the zoos do not let you hug the animals. And two, Punch is in Japan. I'm in the United States.
That's a big job. So we're going to do the next best thing. Hence the chainsaw.
Okay I know this looks super super rough. It is a very rough sketch but
I can see it and that's what is important here. Let's do this.
Punch kind of holding on to his stuffy here. This is the stuffy. This is Punch and I'm really trying
to add the expression on both of their faces. The plushie's face is facing more this way and then I
have Punch more facing this direction. So I'm trying to make sure that my cuts are clean and
the right cuts because one wrong cut could just change the whole direction of the face and I
really want to focus on the direction that I have them on right now. Yeah. This stage
is a stage of what is that? The further I get into this carving the more sad I get because
all I can think about is Punch running to his stuffed little monkey. That's so sad.
Poor little. I just want to like give him a hug. A real hug. It's for you Punch.
Blocking. Sculpting. Shaping. Detail. Finishes. Finish. Finishing. Finishes. Finishes. So right
now we are going in the stage of detailing. So we did the blocking and we did the sculpting and
actually these two are a whole lot closer and these two are a whole lot closer together but
the gap between blocking and sculpting between the detail and finishing is actually pretty big
and it kind of depends on how large your carving is. See the larger carving you can kind of
separate these two a little bit more but when the carving gets smaller these two kind of blend
together a little bit. So this is what I have been doing for the past I don't know how many hours.
And now we are getting into the detail and finishing stage which for me I prefer these
two stages a whole lot more than these two stages. Detailing and finishing can actually
sometimes stress me out because when you get to this stage there's so many routes that you can
choose and I just don't want to mess it up. You spend all that time digging out your piece into
the piece of wood and really sculpting it out and getting it that shape that that detail all of it
and then when it comes to the finishing stage and the detail stage there's multiple routes. Your
piece could actually turn into a hundred different types of carvings instead of just
one. Does that make sense? I hope that makes sense. All right now let's get back to detailing.
Now I'm going to start drawing in his face. I have a photo of his cute little baby face.
Oh my goodness she's so cute. I'm going to try my best with this because a lot of my stuff looks very
like cute cartoonish and I kind of want him to actually watch one of our recent videos that we
posted only chainsaw carving. What? What's the title? Chainsaw carving of carving from tools
only from Harvard Freight. This heat gun was one of those tools from Harvard Freight that we used.
Now the reason why I have the heat gun is because I am trying to actually one stay warm because it's
cold and two I think it's gonna help dry the pine because when the pine is wet it's very
prairie very fuzzy and pine just in general is very it's a very fuzzy wood so and it can be
very annoying when you're doing smaller detail works which is what I'm doing right now.
We are officially done with the detail work and now it's so cold I cannot talk like my mouth.
We are officially done with the detail work and now it is time for the finishing.
I'm gonna burn them up. Let's do it.
Okay so we got Punch all painted up. He looks super super cute. I'm really happy with him
but now it's time to color up his stuffed monkey. I'm actually going to be using a
stain instead of paint because I want to be able to see the wood grains in his monkey and I left
him kind of raw. I think it would give it some nice texture. Let's stain him up. Okay so now
for what we have been waiting for mainly me I've been waiting for this all day
is Punch and his stuffed monkey and here's your hug Punch. Poor little Punchy. Poor little guy.
I feel so bad. I really hope that the other monkeys are accepting Punch because that's just
that's just not cool. He's just a baby. He's just a little baby. I think Punch and his stuffed monkey
turned out super super cute and I'm really glad that I finally got to give this little monkey
a nice big hug. So we'll see you guys in the next video. Catch you later.
