1968 Jeep, Jeepster Commando here at Unique Specialty and Classics.
Small block Chevy power underneath the hood that's paired up with a three-speed
manual transmission. Let's go ahead and take a look at the bumper up front as far as the
bright work goes. Behind the grille, electric fan, aluminum radiator. Get a good look at the
headlight bezels. Look at this pale yellow paint with a plaid interior, kind of a cream and black.
Check out the still pictures. You're going to be able to see the underside, the interior,
engine bay, top on, top off. This vehicle does come with a vinyl top, the brackets.
All those can be seen at uniqueclassiccars.com. If you're watching this video on YouTube,
click on the link down below the video in the description. That's going to take you right to
our website. Of course, you can call us 507-386-1726. Goodyear Wrangler radial tires.
See the beauty rings, hub caps, locking front hubs, of course, four-wheel drive.
Now as far as the paint, it has a nice shine to it, but there are some spots where there'll be
a little touch-up, maybe a nick, imperfection, but overall it does have a nice look to it. Here's
an example, a little bit of a crack in the paint, some touch-up areas down below, right there. It's
one of those cars, get in, drive it, go have some fun. Local roll-ins, cruise-ins, local shows,
seat belts in the rear and the front, of course, transfer case. Lever down below,
there's that three-speed manual transmission, aftermarket Pioneer stereo. We'll get around
to the driver's side there. Start it up, let you hear it run. But first, let's take a look at the
rear of the vehicle. Again, bright work on the rear bumper. So there is the black vinyl top and the
brackets, also a rear view mirror that we will be sending along with it. And once again, all this
still picture is unique, classiccars.com. We'll put that vinyl top on too, and I'll do a quick walk
around, just show you how that looks and fits on here too. So we will check that out, and again,
that can be done in the still pictures. If you want to take a peek at it, uniqueclassiccars.com.

All right, let's go ahead and fire this up. Make sure we're in neutral, and
oops, a little cold-blooded. Let her warm up here a little bit. That was a cold start, as you can
see by the temp gauge right there. Voltmeter, you can see that, and oil pressure. So aftermarket
gauge is working. While we're letting this warm up, a few notes from the technician that looked
at this one. He did mention there is a new battery. Shut off is under the passenger side
of the dash right there. Fuel gauge is in op. I would explain it has not moved. Wipers do work.
Dries out well. Brakes straight. New front brake hoses. Tires are in good shape, but they're a
little bit older. Date coded 2013. Also has a new right rear axle seal. I think we're warmed up now.
Getting that small block Chevy power. Let's go ahead and slip up front, check out the engine bay,
and then stick around. Jason will take it for a drive, show you how it goes down the road.
Let me go ahead and get these unlatched on both sides. We'll take a peek underneath the hood.
There is a peek at the underside of the hood. There it is. Let me pause this a second. Let's
get this vinyl top on, check out how that fits and the condition it's in, and then we'll have
Jason take you for a virtual ride, if you will. All right, got the top snapped on, so black vinyl
top brackets put up. A nice fit above the windshield. Side brackets put up around the glass.
Now the one thing I did notice on these rear support ones that go up across and down the
sides, it appears that there could be a couple brackets missing right there, but we wanted to
put it on here, show you at least how it fit, condition of it. Seems to be in pretty nice shape.
Bottom snaps looking good. Rear window clear. I'm not really noticing any rips, tears, holes,
zippers on the back, but it should be around the passenger side. I have a feeling this has
probably been driven with that top off more than the top has been on, let's put it that way.

Today, we're taking a ride in an open top 1968 Jeep Commando.
Amazing look to this thing. That yellow stands out, we've got black plaid seats.
Three-speed manual right here on the floor. Our turn signals are both working. Pioneer
stereo in the dash, working as well. You can pick up some FM stations, it's a little bit limited.
Let's see how she does on the road. Speedometer is reading. The temp gauge from the factory and
the fuel gauge are down low towards the bottom of their gauges, but underneath the dash,
we have a temp gauge reading 130. That may still be rising. Gauge is confirmed working.
Are the battery charging over 14 volts? Wheel drive, shift lever down. Wipers work. Great open
top experience. It does come with a soft top. This is a smooth running machine. Starts up and
idles nicely right away. Slight play in the steering, that's to be expected for this
era of vehicle. It doesn't affect performance. It's a very beautiful day to be driving around
with no top out here. Got a little rattly here, it seems to be coming from the door.
I believe it might be the door glass. Actually, yes, I can reach it from here.
It seems to be the door glass in that door. If you roll it up a little bit,
it'll probably quit. You don't see many of these. When you think about like a Bronco or a Blazer,
this one's a completely removable top. Competition for them, 1968 by Jeep,
who is renowned for off-road performance. 68 Jeep Commando at UniqueLessonCars.com.
