Te Deum in C major (1792)
Canto Arrianis and Concerto Sacro conducted by Ingmar Beck
This sacred choral work was part of Albrechtsberger’s output during his tenure as Kapellmeister at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, a position he assumed in 1792. The Te Deum remained largely unperformed during his lifetime and was not performed publicly until after his death in 1809.
Albrechtsberger, known for his mastery of counterpoint and sacred music, composed over 750 works, many of which survive only in manuscript. The Te Deum is considered one of his finest sacred compositions, reflecting his deep engagement with polyphonic and liturgical traditions
