He wasted no time finishing off every bite of the cake.
Tom's jabbing fork finally got Jerry's attention.
Jerry flew through the air and grabbed Tom's turban, turning poor Tom into a spinning top.
Tom spun out of control, bouncing from pillar to pillar until...
Activity! How many magic lamps can you find hidden on these two pages?
He crashed into a big pillar, flattening him to the size of a dinner plate.
Jerry bounced over him and scurried away.
This didn't stop Tom. He grabbed the end of the hallway rug and rolled it after Jerry,
folding him up like a little burrito. Tom blew hard into the rolled-up rug,
sending Jerry flying across the room and landing with a thud on the floor,
right in front of a beautiful golden lamp.
Jerry rubbed the lamp. A long, mysterious plume of smoke
swirled from the spout, rising to the ceiling and revealing...
a genie in a pearl-studded cap. A bulldog genie.
The genie put his paws together and bowed.
Mousey, your wish is my command. Jerry could hardly believe it.
A friendly genie that would do anything he asked?
As Tom skidded around the corner and raced straight for him,
Jerry pointed his finger at Tom. The genie floated between Tom and Jerry
and stuck his powerful paw right in Tom's face.
Uh-oh, Tom thought. This cannot be good.
The genie packed the confused cat into a little ball and snapped his fingers,
producing a golf club and a golf tee. He set the Tom ball on the tee,
then lined up his shot and drove Tom out of the building, high into the air.
Four! yelled the genie.
Tom flew high over the rooftops, landing right in the middle of a magic carpet mart.
He bounced from rug to rug until the last magic carpet rolled itself up
and swatted the terrified Tom all the way back to the palace.
You might call it a home run.
Activity
Tom's crash landing scrambled the names of the merchant's goods on the sign.
Can you unscramble them?
Tom flew past Jerry and the genie and landed with a thump.
Something was stuck in his mouth, and it wasn't his teeth.
Can you guess what it is?
Tom pulled the magic lamp.
At once, the genie disappeared from Jerry's side and reappeared next to Tom.
Activity
Find five things that don't belong in this scene.
Ah! Tom thought.
Whoever holds the lamp has the services of the genie.
Tom pointed across the room, giving the genie his orders.
But where was Jerry?
A pillow began to hop away.
The genie floated after the pillow and lifted it, slamming his other hand to the floor.
But there was nothing there.
Huh?
The genie said.
Tom discovered the tricky mouse clinging to the bottom of the pillow.
Jerry ripped the pillow open, sending a cloud of feathers everywhere.
Tom had a mighty sneeze.
Jerry ran, but Tom was hot behind him, clutching the lamp.
When Tom rubbed the lamp, it twitched and twisted into a vacuum cleaner.
Went the vacuum sucking up vases, curtains, pillows, and anything else in its path?
Jerry turned to see the vacuum genie right on his tail until it pulled him into its belly.
Tom watched as the vacuum wiggled itself back to the shape of the lamp.
Victory!
Then Tom rudely pointed for the obedient genie to get back into the lamp.
Activity
The genie's home has five things associated with magic.
Can you spot them?
The genie yawned and stretched, tossing his genie's cap on the table.
Right over Jerry.
Clever Jerry waited until the coast was clear
and crawled out from under the cap, finding a platter of food.
Snack break!
Like any cat, Tom was curious.
He peered into the spout to see what was going on.
Jerry looked up to see Tom staring down at him
and shoved an olive and a piece of cheese up the spout.
Take that, Tom!
Enough, thought Tom.
He forced his arm into the lamp, pushing out his claws like skewers.
Whomp!
A claw fell to the right of him.
Whomp!
Another claw just missed him on the left.
Jerry guided Tom's jabs until his claw made a direct hit on the genie's magical cap.
Tom felt electrified, and his whole body was pulled into the lamp.
Poof!
Tom was gone.
Smoke filled the inside of the lamp.
Tom appeared with the genie's cap on his head.
Taller and taller, Tom grew.
Wickedly laughing as Jerry and the real genie, now powerless, stood in shock.
Oh no!
Tom's now huge paw reached down and flicked the genie and Jerry right out of the lamp.
They landed on the palace floor as genie Tom swirled his way out of the lamp,
still growing larger, bursting through the ceiling.
Activity!
A palace has many hallways.
Can you show Jerry and the genie the right path through the maze to the exit?
Jerry and the genie bolted from the palace and ran down the street.
Genie Tom chased after them, towering over the buildings, enjoying his awesome new power.
Just when it looked like there was no place to hide,
Jerry saw that he was standing in front of the lamp.
Rub the lamp, Jerry!
Whoosh!
Genie Tom was suddenly sucked back into the lamp.
Jerry's Lamp
Jerry rested on what was once Tom's bed,
guarded by the dog, who was happy to give up his genie duties forever, and pointed to his mouth.
Jerry was hungry again, and since he now owned the lamp,
the very unhappy genie Tom was now completely at his service.
Genie Tom snapped his fingers and food magically floated into Jerry's mouth.
The satisfied little mouse rubbed his belly.
Luckily, no other genie appeared.
