The speaker shares updates on her horses' health and training, highlighting the positive impact of summer grass on Penny's arthritis. She discusses Willow's sensitivity to rocks and the purchase of protective boots, while expressing excitement about returning to riding as her own knee injury heals.
Good morning guys. Welcome to today's video. Sylvie's already in the barn and I'm just
headed out to meet her and see what we have going on for the day. Looks like it's a lady
day. Walk trap poles. Walk trap poles. So Sylvie rode her last night even. She wanted to take
Willow driving, but Willow is really iffy about her feet. So she does not like rocks. She does
not like going over rocks. She has nice hard feet. I don't get it. She's very sensitive to rocks.
That's why I put in the vet wrap on her, but we're out of vet wrap. Are we out of vet wrap? Yeah. Oh,
I'll order more. I used it on their feet even though the rocks ripped it up. Yeah. But it
helped a little bit. Yeah. So anyways, I ordered some little boots for her. I'm so excited to get
them in. They're so cute. So as soon as they come in, she's going to pick up driving again. She's
excited to do it. She just doesn't want her, her horse to get sore from the rocks. And there's not
even like a ton of rocks on our road. Like not big rocks. Oh my God. It's a rock. It's going to kill
me. Yeah. She's always been like that ever since we've had her. You can see her swerving trying
to avoid the rocks. Yeah. And every time she steps on a rock, she's like, ouch, ouch, ouch. So she
definitely wants to just be careful. Road riding and road driving is not for everybody. And we want
to just make sure that she's okay. A big horse would have shoes, but she definitely does not
need shoes. So we ordered some boots for her. They will be here hopefully soon. Literally,
I just brought Penny in. Oh, I literally just brought Penny in. Oh my gosh. Summer and grass
changes horses. I just like brought her up here, backed her up, backed her in. I don't even back
up my car, but she's so good. She's so good. I've told you guys this so many times, but every winter
her arthritis is awful. And I always think, Oh, is this going to be it? Like, is this the year?
Because it's just so hard on her. The winter awful. And this year the winter lasted for eight months.
Like it was awful. As soon as she got on the grass, she's a million times better. She just,
the grass. Anyway, it makes me like go down this huge rabbit hole of our, our hay. We get it from
a really great place that has a lot of really nice quality hay. So she's like, well, maybe it's
because the winter is hard on her joints. And yeah, that's the exact reason. But I swear, when
you have good nutrition, nothing bad ever happens to you. Like it's the difference between how kind
some animal people have, like a lot of trouble with their animals through
and a lot of like health issues, like, especially with goats.
Yeah. Never trust a horse enough to go under their stomach.
Never trust a horse.
I feel like I could go under her stomach. I'm not going to cause I don't have a death wish,
but I feel like I could.
Oh, I'm sure you could. I'm, I've kids have gone under Penny's stomach.
I literally had to back this thing up and literally almost ran over the cat. I was careful
and he just still stays there. She looks so good. You guys, she looks so good.
This is the summer Penny, the Penny that gallops across the yard, across the field. She's been
galloping. It's just crazy to me how like in the winter, she's this old girl. And then the summer
comes and she's this amazing girl. We might ride this year. My knee is mostly healed and she's
looking good. You want to ride here? This is what it looks like when she kisses me. Let's see.
It's gross though. Even though I love her. He's gross. You're gross. Not in a mean way,
just in a grass smelling breath way. My girl, like I can't believe the difference
in summer versus winter. Like she just looks like a whole new horse.
All right, we are done Penny Pickle. I gotta go out there and see what Sophie's up to.
Come on. Come on. Come on. You have to go back and be a horse. She's like, no, I want to stay here.
I want to go in the grass with you. Come on. She does not want to go. Come on. She's saying no.
She's literally saying no. I wonder if Sophie would be mad if I took her into the field with me.
She probably would be because she'd be a distraction to lady. Come on. We have to go.
So she's in heat. She's in heat and I, and she's a loving stormy boy right now. Right now. So she's
going to go back. Wait a minute. This is not working out right. Hold on. Hold on. Get over
here. Don't touch my camera. Come on Penny. Come on. Go away. Go away storm. Go. Yes. I know you
want her back, but go away. All right. I do not know how I ended up here. This is a predicament.
The door is open storm. Go, go, let her go. Let her go in here. Go, go, go. She won't come in
at storms here, even though he was just, they were just grooming each other. There we go. Because
she's to see her tail is up. She's like, come smell me.
Hi Gracie. It's almost time to eat. It's almost time. Yes. I don't know. Horses are just so lovely
and I just can't believe the difference. Like when we first got our horses, they were kind of like
rambunctious and like, I don't know. And now they're just like puppies. All of them, except
for honey. Who's young. And maybe that's why, because they're all old now. Still a lot of grass
in this field. They ate it mostly down. Like there's some patches that are big, but I didn't
want them to eat it so low because I wanted to grow back again. It looks like little honey might
be in heat too. I can't believe how long it takes for her to shed out her hair. Everybody else is
completely shed except for her. But what's really great on the farm right now is that Sophie's at
the stage where she just comes out, sets up everything new. Last night, this was a whole
different thing. She did some jumping last night and then. Same areas, just. Oh, you just put the
poles down. Gabby and I both came out last night and we're just sitting here watching her ride.
It was like late. It was late and it was cool and I don't know. It was just lovely.
Lots of walking today. Sophie said that she likes to go back like after she's done some like
challenging lessons or some challenging rides like jumping. She just likes to go out, go back
and just do like walking and just relax and stuff. Change it up so she doesn't always know what to
expect because she's that kind of a horse where she anticipates things and then gets all worked up.
But worked up for her is nothing really.
Listen to me every day. I was down with an illusion like a sparrow with broken wings.
But now I shine with your reflection on me. I'm getting back up on my feet.
That you showed up was written in my palm. You are a statement mixed but like a bomb.
I get to push myself to victory. You make me win. You cut me loose and set me free.
You make me win. You showed me how to spread my wings.
Yes, I'm the winner all the day.
You cut me loose and set me free. You make me win every way.
You showed me how to spread my wings. Yes, I'm the winner all the day.
Yes, I'm the winner.
Watching Toby ride gave me the riding bug. My knee is much better. I feel good. Penny's feeling
good. I'm going to talk to my vet and then I am going to maybe ride my horse this weekend. So
yeah, I'm excited. I can't believe it. I thought I'd never get to ride her again.
I thought do I want to ride lady? I kind of want to ride lady. One thing I actually really like
about getting older is that when I was younger I was always in a rush. Let's go open the fence.
I was always in a rush and like sitting there while Sophie iced her horse's
legs would have been like awful for me. Now I just like it. I just get to hang out.
All right unplug. Unplug it before you get brutally zapped. This is my favorite bench that I haven't
sat on for a long time. He's like what are you doing there missy? Did he be going slow? She's
like yeah well I just have my legs iced. She'd be looking sleek and shiny. All right not so sleek.
Hey. Hey. They're making honey wait.
