No!
It's f***ing empty!
That is f***ing painful bloody hell.
Okay, hello everybody, good morning.
Welcome back to the channel.
Good morning.
This is Life in Taiwan with Xiaofei.
Some guy.
I'm teaching him how to climb mountains today.
We're back at the Guguan Qishong,
No. 4.
I think this is going to be the biggest challenge
I've ever faced in Taiwan.
What do you reckon?
Yeah.
Is it up there?
You think carrying my ass up
is going to be the biggest challenge you've ever faced?
Yes, we are at, what's the name of the mountain?
We're going to be talking a little bit about
challenges and difficulties that we face in Taiwan.
And I think this is going to be one of them.
So, I think that's enough talking.
Let's get on with starting this climb.
We've made it up to the first stop.
No idea how far we are.
But so far, it's just been really steep steps.
If you enjoy seeing me struggle,
which I think a lot of you sick, sick people do,
I think this video should be a must-watch for you.
Just want to bring you along.
Share the experience of my Guguan Qishong.
I am definitely struggling hard.
So far, I think we're about a third of the way through.
And I really wanted to talk to you about challenges in this video.
But this mountain, or this trail,
just doesn't stop going up, up and up.
There's no flat parts.
Very few rest stops.
So, yeah.
I definitely wasn't exaggerating in that title.
This is pretty f***ing bad.
But we're not going to give up.
I've told Xiaofei,
if I try to give up,
he cannot let me give up.
Whenever I face a difficulty or a pressure
or stress or challenge,
I just tell myself,
William is watching me.
And there's no way I can give up.
No f***ing way.
Are you feeling okay?
Yeah, I'm fine.
I really was planning on putting beers in my bag,
but then I forgot.
That would have been epic.
Always video.
No, we just cut it out.
I don't want to say it's ridiculous,
because there's people like
50 or 60 years old
ahead of me, but I feel like
this is almost impossible for me.
It's not even a trail.
It's like genuine
mountain rock climbing.
And I'm sure there are people watching this
that have climbed way more difficult mountains
and difficult challenges laughing at me
or think it's hilarious, but for me today,
this is the biggest mountain in the world.
Holy s***, man.
This is definitely the biggest challenge
I've set myself so far.
And we're not even halfway yet, right?
I don't think so.
No, I don't think we've covered it.
One third.
Taiwanese people are so honest.
We are at 1.5 kilometers.
I heard Alan is going to lose weight.
Yeah.
I heard Alan is going to lose weight.
Alan Jianfei, plus one
in the comments section.
That right behind me
is the two kilometer marker.
Two kilometers in distance.
Meaning just over a kilometer to go.
But a few hundred meters at least
in altitude.
1, 3, 3, 4.
So we've got
elevation 1, 1, 3, 4.
1, 1, 3, 4.
OK, that makes sense.
Special...
What did you call this? Alcohol energy?
Let's see if it works.
Is it working?
Jianfei, how are you feeling?
You look like you just woke up.
Pretty fresh.
I'm going to do it.
If this video ends with me not doing this,
I'll be ashamed of myself.
So...
That is f***ing painful.
Bloody hell.
Crying.
It's OK. It's going to be OK. It's going to go away.
There she went.
Oh, it's deep heat.
Oh, that feels so good.
Turn around.
Bend over.
This is by far
the funniest thing I've ever filmed.
I'm going to f***ing cry, dude.
This is rough.
Really rough.
Just one foot in front of the other.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Come on.
My number one advice
to anybody thinking of starting
a mountain climbing career,
do it with friends.
Do it with friends, makes it much easier.
Don't try and do it alone,
because you'll give up too easy.
Yeah, I think we can say we're friends now,
officially.
3,000 metres in, 500 metres to go.
We've just bumped into a few fans of Xiaofei.
Super excited to see you.
Yeah, they're great.
What did they tell us? They said it was 10 minutes away.
Then they looked me up and down and were like...
差不多.
Amy's given us
the wrap it up sign.
Let's get going,
or it's going to be 30 minutes.
Amy tells us
this is the final leg, the last
100 metres of elevation.
But this looks like the most difficult part.
This looks like an actual climb.
Amy, OK?
OK, last 150.
I am...
I am running on empty.
Ah!
My calf again.
My calf muscle just went again.
Should I call your mommy?
Call mommy.
I'm empty.
This must be the worst thing to watch.
Woo!
Ailun!
加油! 加油! 加油! 加油!
I'm going to cry. I feel so...
You're almost there, man.
Ailun, almost there!
The first time.
That's right.
Is this it?
Yeah.
Yes!
Oh, yes!
That feels good.
Give me a hug, buddy.
Thanks, buddy.
Oh, my goodness.
That was the most difficult thing of everything.
Hi, everybody. I'm Xiaofei.
I was brought onto this project
as an intern. I got pretty lucky
because I know Amy, and Amy
knew the star of the show, Ailun,
and she kind of worked it out for me.
I'm not really getting a salary,
but this way I get some
filming experience, so that's pretty good.
I had
a few main jobs
on this show. So the first one was just
to take footage of Ailun
as he walked through the forest.
And also,
I was told it was really important
to not let him give up.
I was given very explicit
instructions that
if he says he wants to quit, I'm supposed to
convince him
not to quit, or push him somehow,
or smack him, make him angry,
some sort of
things. I found that actually just
giving him candy was
really the most effective way
to get him going again.
And, yeah, I hope
that this shows up on my resume.
Maybe you can get some more
camera work out of it.
And really
enjoy the experience. At first,
Ailun was taking it
pretty easy. He had a negative experience,
I think, on the first
half kilometer of his previous hike,
so he was much smarter about it.
He was going up quite
steady and quite strong.
But I think by the last
500 meters,
he was really starting to feel it
a bit.
But,
I'm sure in editing, they'll
cut all that out, and they'll make it look like
he did it very strongly.
But, yeah, good for him.
You know, he made it. I think we all,
Ailun deserves a hand. And I'm
not just saying it, because he's my boss
on this project.
Maybe subscribe
and comment. And
also, I have a channel too.
And we'll see you next time.
That's great, Xiaofei. Now go get me a
cup of tea. Yes, boss!
